YouTube, VAG, трансляция экрана смартфона на Android Auto: как это делается

На устройства с Android Auto, как известно, устанавливаются только так называемые «одобренные» приложения. И Google бдительно следит за тем, чтобы юзеры не ставили разные отвлекающие от дороги и небезопасные для вождения проги, в частности плееры, YouTube, некоторые навигаторы и пр.

С другой стороны, спрос рано или поздно рождает приложение. Следовательно, и на Android Auto при желании можно поставить даже «не одобренные» Google проги. Притом даже без root-а.

Способы есть, и об одном из них мы сейчас вкратце расскажем. Итак.

как обойти блокировку Google и установить на Android Auto «не одобренное» приложение

Значит, как вы наверняка знаете, такой фокус с устройствами на Android Auto проделывать можно было и раньше. Но только с разблокированными, то ишь при наличии root-прав. Без них задачка усложнялась радикально. Но то раньше…

А сейчас для этого есть программный инструмент, который называется Android Auto Apps Downloader (сокращенно AAAD), и который как раз и разработан специально для того, чтобы с его помощью можно было ставить на Android Auto разные неофициальные (они же те самые «не одобренные») приложения.

Скачать AAAD можно со странички проекта на GitHub [ССЫЛКА]. Кроме того, есть еще целая ветка на форуме XDA, где обсуждаются особенности и возможности этого инструмента. Плюс, отметим на всякий случай:

Achtung! Мы настоятельно не рекомендуем запускать и пользоваться AAAD и установленными с его помощью приложениями во время управления автомобилем. Отвлекаться от управления опасно для вас и окружающих и прямо запрещено ПДД.

Вдаваться в подробности установки и настройки AAAD считаем излишним, поскольку работает прога предельно просто. Фактически это установщик, который заставляет Android Auto «думать», что ему устанавливают официальное приложение из Play Маркета. Сразу же после установки AAAD выдает список самых популярных приложений — выбираем нужное, подтверждаем установку и дожидаемся завершения. Это всё. Потом AAAD даже уведомит об обновлениях.

Какие приложения из неофициальных можно поставить через AAAD

• Carstream — по сути, это приложение YouTube в версии для Android Auto;

• Fermata Auto — бесплатный аудио и видеоплеер;

• Screen2Auto, AA Mirror, AAStream, AA Mirror Plus — приложения для трансляции изображения с экрана смартфона на экран в машине;

• Performance Monitor — версия приложения для мониторинга VAG (Volkswagen-Audi Group);

• AA Passenger — музыка с сервисов потокового аудио, навигация, трансляция картинок со смартфонов пассажиров;

• Widgets for Android Auto — виджеты со смартфона на экран в авто;

• Nav2Contacts — навигация с адресами.

Ну и в завершение пара важных моментов:

• во-первых, бесплатный позволяет устанавливать и юзать только одно приложение. Если надо/хочется больше, то придется раскошелиться (но разрабы обещают в будущем выложить полнофункциональную версию с открытым исходным кодом);
• во-вторых, AAAD тоже относится к категории «не одобренных», потому учитываем, что блокировать его Google тоже будет.

Let me announce a new major release: 1.9-alpha8

It has two new main features, namely:

• Audio streaming without root, as rooting was rather a major blocker for
  this feature to be useful.

• Hotspot mode. Now the apps don’t rely on Wi-fi Direct only (but it’s still supported).
  They will work also if the passenger’s device is connected to the hotspot started
  on the driver’s device.

With this app you can have two phones: one is the driver’s phone, running Android Auto as usual.
Then you can have another one, e.g. handled by passenger. Passenger can then do 3 things:

• play any music via car speakers (for now this requires root on passenger’s device)
• find some destination in Google Maps or another maps app and send it to Android Auto to navigate there
• display pictures on the Android Auto screen (e.g. display how the hotel you’re driving to looks like)

Open Android Auto app and enable «Unknown sources»:

• In the Android Auto app open the Hamburger menu.
• Open About.
• Tap «About Android Auto» header 10 times, until «Developer mode enabled» toast appears.
• Tap dots on the top right of the screen.
• Select «Developer settings» from the menu and enable «Unknown sources».

If in doubt, see this video.

Download the AA Passenger app from Github or from Play Store, install it on the passenger’s device and run. A nice wizard will appear, guiding you through the next steps.

Non-standard audio streaming

Normally, to stream audio with the AA Passenger app, nothing special is needed. When connected, the app displays an «Audio Streaming» button.

Below are described some ways to stream audio in a non-standard way.

Audio streaming without AA Passenger app (experimental)

Start Hotspot on the driver’s device, then connect to the car and start Android Auto.

Connect with any Android phone to the hotspot.

Cast screen using Cast option in the Settings app or the quick settings bar.

Driver’s device should be visible to Cast as «No-app Car Streaming».

If Cast is not in Settings, use Google Home app.

Do not use the Cast button found in media apps, like Play Music or Youtube. These use a different technology. Use system-wide screen mirroring, even though only audio will be streamed.

Please report your experiences in the XDA thread.

Audio streaming with root

1. If the passenger’s device is rooted, you may install Audio Capture Service on it instead of relying on a trick with Cast.

It’s possible to make a nice and shiny NFC tag and place it in the car, so that the passengers with NFC-capable phones can easily get the AA Passenger app.

If the AA Passenger app is already installed, tapping this tag will open it. Otherwise the website above will be opened.

AA Passenger App is ad-supported.

Pre-release AA 2nd Seat App versions will be free. What about releases? I haven’t decided yet.

I’m also open-sourcing useful reusable components of the app. For now we have:
