If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen
If you lose your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch or think it might be stolen, use Find My and protect your data.
Look for your device on a map
To find your device, sign in to iCloud.com/find. Or use the Find My app on another Apple device that you own.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn’t appear in the list of devices, Find My was not turned on. But you can still protect your account if Find My was not turned on.
Mark as Lost
When you mark your device as lost, you remotely lock it with a passcode, keeping your information secure. This also disables Apple Pay on the missing device. And you can display a custom message with your contact information on the missing device.
Report your missing device to local law enforcement
Law enforcement might request the serial number of your device.
File a Theft and Loss claim
If your missing iPhone is covered by AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, file a claim for an iPhone replacement.
Remotely erase your device
After you erase a device, you can’t track its location, so make sure that you no longer need to search for the device. If you have AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, do not erase your iPhone until your claim has been approved.
Contact your wireless carrier
If the missing device is an iPhone or an iPad with cellular, report your missing device to your wireless carrier. Ask the carrier to disable your account to prevent calls, texts, and data use. And if your device is covered under your wireless carrier plan, file a claim.
Remove your missing device from your account
If you have AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, do not remove your lost iPhone from your account until your claim has been approved.
Go to appleid.apple.com to remove the missing device from your list of trusted devices.
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss is not available in all countries and regions.

Version update 7.1.0 addresses issues for users with multiple Apple Watches and fixes a rare issue on iPhone where turning Bluetooth off and then back on from Settings app would prevent the Bluetooth connection from starting.

Love it, but.
I have been waiting for an App like this one since the first Apple Watch. I was super excited when I found it and immediately got the paid version. Only problem (a big one for me) is that every time I restart my iPhone or my watch, the app does not start automatically and I don’t always remember to manually turn it on. So I’m still forgetting my iPhone at home or in the car. Disappointing but I’m sure developers will do something about that.
Update: one year later last week I downloaded this app again and it finally works well, the down fall is that it’s draining my battery! 🙄
Developer Response ,
Thanks for the feedback. We are aware of this limitation and will continue to try to find a solution that will allow Phone Buddy to re-start without user input after a system shutdown. At this time we don’t have technical path forward to achieve this result but we are always trying new things and with each new OS updates Apple provides new functionality that may enable this use case sometime down the line. Thanks again for the feedback and we’d love to get this working sometime soon.
Was good, now it’s AWFUL!
I’ve had this app for several version of the iPhone and Apple Watch and the first iterations of this app worked fine, without false alarms but after recently updating this app and being pleasantly surprised by all the great additions to the functionality of this app I was impressed. THAT WAS SHORT LIVED. This app is horrendous with false alarms, no matter how much I tinker with the distance and time setting it’s constantly going off. With me working in the medical field with patient care, it’s very rude and startling to patients and family members having loud and obnoxious fire alarm sounding alerts randomly blaring out of your phone and watch, even when both your phone and watch are on your person. I’ve even went as far as completely shutting down the application when I need it the most but the application is still making my phone alarm randomly. I’m super disappointed in this application now and I feel I have no choice but to remove it completely from my phone.
Developer Response ,
Hello RawDawgRagland, I’m very sorry to learn about your experience using Phone Buddy. There are settings I’d recommend that may mediate some of the issues, for example, you can disable the «Loud Alarm» setting so Phone Buddy uses default notification sounds or vibration when posting alerts. We have also updated a few advanced settings that may help reduce false alerts due to temporary interruptions, such as the Sure Alert setting on the Phone Lost Alert custom settings page on Apple Watch. By the way, Bluetooth shares a spectrum with many wireless devices and as such environmental interference makes 100% accuracy difficult. If you’ve introduced a new wireless device in home or car and that correlates with the decreasing quality of service please let me know. We are happy to chat further at support@fre-studios.com.
Too often receive lost phone alert with phone next to watch
I did all I could with configuration- set distance far and increased time. I also set to not alert on home WiFi. No joy. I still get random alerts for no apparent reason. I guess I need to be a big boy and remember my phone because this app gives too many false alerts to be useful. 🙁
The developer suggested that I may be having problems in my environment with distance and simply use lost phone alerts instead. I had the issue with the phone and watch being within inches of each other. Unless my body generates a field that could through their process off, I don’t see what environment is interfering; it’s not like there are walls to go through or metal objects in the way. This issue didn’t just happen at home. BTW — iPhone 12 Pro and Watch Series 6, so this isn’t an issue with older hardware. Downgraded the review to 1; reminds me a bit of the iPhone — you’re not holding it right but worse.
