Just…beautiful.

I’m just diving in to this sound calibration realm and was told by the dealer I got my gear from to use this app rather than the mic and Arcam tool. I’m a long time film and video editor and seen a lot of interfaces and clunky attempts at graphical heavy tools like this and sadly, most don’t keep me interested more than a few minutes or so. I may update later but I’ve just gone though a little get-to-know this program and I just say after looking at this and a couple other packages this guy has designed and I know this, he’s a pro! Cheers Sir Vlad!

Awesome App!!

If you implemented a feature to reset peak max and min data logging rather than having to cycle through all the options or restart the app to reset the logging that would be even more awesome!!

Very Buggy

I got this and was able to figure out frequency and DB point I was looking for — but-
*all the links to get help don’t work
*the help page has info for another application- mostly useless
*one screen mode renders 1/2 black screen and no functions, it stops you from doing anything else. I had to hard reboot iPhone to get it to go away.
*none of the recording functions work

This app supports simultaneous display of «audio waveform» and «amplitude spectrum» (size of FFT calculation result for each frequency) for audio signals input from a microphone.
(FFT: Fast Fourier Transform)

[Features]
— Supports simultaneous display of audio waveform / amplitude spectrum.
— Supports orientation both portrait and landscape.
— Selectable configuration of audio waveform / amplitude spectrum display.
— Selectable FFT size.
— Selectable window function (used in amplitude spectrum calculation)
— Displays the peak level and its frequency of the amplitude spectrum.
— Generates the audio signal (4 types of waveform)
— Generates the noise signal (white noise, pink noise)

[Setting items]
screen structure :
Screen configuration can be selected.
— Wave: Display audio waveform only.
— Spectrum: Display amplitude spectrum only.
— Vertical: Display audio waveform / amplitude spectrum vertically.
— Horizon: Display audio waveform / amplitude spectrum horizontally.

FFT size :
Selectable FFT size. (number of samples used when performing FFT)
1024, 2048, 4096, 8192
The smaller the FFT size value, the faster the display updates, but the less accurate each frequency value in the amplitude spectrum.
The larger the FFT size value, the slower the display update, but the more accurate each frequency value in the amplitude spectrum.

Window function :
Selectable window function (multiplication just before FFT) used for amplitude spectrum calculation.
— Hann: Hanning window
— Hamm: Hamming window
— Blkman: Blackman window
— None: No window function

Generates the audio signal :
Generates the audio signal of the selected waveform.
— There are 4 types of waveform. (Sine, Triangle, Squire, Saw)
— It can set the value of the frequency in 20Hz — 20000Hz.

Generates the noise signal :
Generates the selected noise signal.
— There are 2 types of noise. (White noise, pink noise)
— The volume can be adjusted.

[Other]
— It can reduce / enlarge the screen in the Y direction by pinching in / out. (0.5 — 2.0)
-The sampling frequency of this app is 44100 Hz.
-The amplitude spectrum calculation uses the vDSP library.

This app generates the audio signal (Sine, Triangle, Squire, Saw) of 6 channels.

Great App to Analyze a Strange Noise in Home

We had encountered a buzzing noise that came and went. The noise was coming from the ceiling my office like it was originating in attic. Was it a bee hive or hornet infestation, wind causing vibrations in eves or loose roof components or more serious issue some kind of electrical hum or buzz. I thought if only I had a spectrum analyzer I could rule out an electrical issue if the noise was 60 HZ or a 120 Hz harmonic. So I thought my phone has a microphone and it certainly could analyze sound . So I found this App for my iphone.
It showed the primary vibration was 101 HZ so I felt relieved. But what was it? The room next door was a bathroom and the noise was louder but still coming from the ceiling. So then I thought toilets can cause funny noises. I took off the tank lid and waited until the noise was loudest and touched the float arm hitch was connected to the auto shutoff valve . It was vibrating like crazy and the noise went away . But I still could not understand why the noise was coming from above. Then I thought the plumbing stack vent was just like a pipe in a pipe organ. The vibration in the tank made the column of air in the stack vent resonate.
Strangest annoying sound and plumbing issue I have ever heard of in my life. I fixed it by turning the float adjustment screw just a bit.
The technology in a smart phone seems to be unlimited.

A new feature?

I wanna be able to see a spectrum of the output of the device I’m using. Say I want to compare the re-creation of the sample to the actual eq curve of the output from the app I’m using to create the sound. Basically as a reference to see how accurate a re-creation of a sample is. Basically a pre-out spectrum.

Clean Design. but wanted Line In option

It gets four stars because IF you only wanted to use the not so great built-in microphone of your device then it seems to work very well. I was actually willing to pay for a way to unlock a Line-In feature but nothing told me that the feature exists. The fact that the spectrum plot can hold the peaks is a real nice and makes your app more useful. The pop up is super annoying, but being an App developer myself. I understand how selfish people just expect a great feature rich App to be all for FREE (i gave up thinking i could be paid for all my hard work). Just for fun, you can check out my Free iPhone App FlipNshare ProVideo. I did uninstall the app only because i need Line-In feature, please let me know if it’s actually available.
