A Very Quality App
I very much enjoy using iTunes Store app. One thing I would add to it as far as music is concerned, though, would be an option to look for items by artist, because the way it is now, you can look for items either by song or album name only, which means that getting to the overall oeuvre of the particular artist has to be done around. Being able to look by artist directly would make getting to the particular artist’s oeuvre more convenient.
Missing worldwide iTunes content
Personally I’d always prefer to have the original language as primary and the dub as an option extra so any Pokémon should be Japanese audio and English subtitles or English dubbed but the dubbed version is an extra not the Japanese version like studio ghibli films
Also why isn’t my anime all in anime half of the dragon ball movies are in action/adventure while the others are in anime
I’d use action/adventure as a # search term to locate movies but put them in the correct categories I’ve got Christmas movies not in holiday movies either do better with categories or let us switch them like movies anywhere is doing with my lists even movies pre set up can be changed to be in other lists
I get everything possible from iTunes but it’s still possible to improve it the library tab is not working on the app that looks like the iTunes app on other devices
I have an Apple TV 4 and 4K and the 4 doesn’t update the newest purchases on the app but it’s reflected on the movies tab where you can buy stuff the 4K works better on the app but it’s still better on the stores section and can lag before it updates or can freeze up until you back out on the main screen
Would love to have complete access to iTunes Store worldwide where content is available as it should be with foreign language content as default language version and the English language version should be as an option
Flustered
I’ve lost music that I purchased, one was a full album for whatever reason. With no customer service dept. there’s no way to get that back, plus it was years ago.
Just now purchasing a song I double clicked buy, and no movement as far as downloading to start. Checked my library to see if it started loading, nothing. Clicked back into the iTunes Store and had to double click again. Now I feel like I might have to purchases.
Also when buying singles from an upcoming album, once the album releases the two don’t sync, so I can’t listen to albums in full in sequence order because I have to pull out of that album and select the single of the same artist and album separately. Small inconveniences such as these are frustrating yet I’m still buying music (vinyls and iTunes) instead of streaming

Little lost gem!
I used this app years ago and even forgot I had it installed. And then came on a use case I’ve wanted for years — and this does it! Beautifully.
Among other things, I use Remote to control the music playing on my main Mac through AirPlay to my main entertainment system. Now I can listen to the same stream in the office, family room, and outside and am free to roam about the yard without worrying about WiFi dropping out. And I still have complete control over what is playing (and volume and more) from my iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch! Can’t wait to pair some friends phones so my Mac can serve as a jukebox at the next party! I’ve always wanted to do that!
The only thing I wish it did that it doesn’t do is allow me to Add to my library! (I think I get why and it’s not too much to go over to Music and do it and then come back.)
Well done Apple.
Edited, working fantastically
After this latest update and MacOS update, working swimmingly. I love that my whole house AirPlay Setup works as designed once again!
Old rating: Had I known about the iTunes remote breaking when this Catalina upgrade came about, it would have been a deal breaker. I’ve had this app for years and used it regularly to stream music to all my airplay speakers. Worked wonderfully.
I put Catalina on my mac, and it’s broken. Apple would be wise to fix, with all the issues with the iOS and macOS, which they absurdly and uncharacteristically botched, and the anger in the community over this among other “losses”, which outweigh the “enhancements”. Apple, you were better than this.
Missing key feature
This is one of the most used apps I have on my IOS devices, using it to control a headless Mac mini music server. There are no iTunes alternatives available I’m aware off, as such it is important to me that it continues to remain relevant. For the most part it works flawlessly with a local music library, what it doesn’t do is quite astonishing, it doesn’t allow selecting music from Apple Music. If I choose an album or song in Apple Music using Remote Desktop from a Mac and then start iTunes Remote on iPad it appears in now playing and functions normally so it seems feasible. Please Apple update this app with Apple Music functionality, don’t make me email Tim Cook over such an obvious shortcoming.
Updated: Apple is rolling out lossless HiRez Apple Music soon, yet this their only remote app for controlling the Music App still cannot see any of the Apple Music streaming stuff. While Roon and Audirvana’s remote apps can do just that with their apps controlling HiRez streaming services like Qobuz and Tidal.

I like it, but I gotta say something…
Apple… let me preface this by saying you all make a great everything. But as with all things there’s room for improvement. One suggestion I have for Apple Music is the ability to link two songs for shuffle. A lot of albums have songs that not only run into each other, but are necessary to play together. So when using your playlist on shuffle, some song transitions have no continuity and the flow is disturbed. Giving the end user the ability to decide whether or not they’d like to songs to play sequentially during shuffle would be a hit. Just make it to where two songs can be tied together. Once tied they will play together unless/until the user decides to disconnect them. I think it’ll be swell. Thanks my dudes. 🤙
Fine I guess
Let’s start with the positives. The playlists are really great! And the browse tab is a good place to discover what’s popular and find a few new things too. But, there are a few things that ruin the experience.
It’s been at least two years at this point, from iOS 13 to iOS 15, where whenever I add a song to a playlist it’s a 50/50 shot it actually gets added or not. This is definitely a bug related to iCloud Music Library that needs to get worked out. Also, when queueing songs by selecting Play Next, there’s a 20% chance they don’t actually play next and are added a few songs down on the queue. And lastly, I wish I could delete songs from my library without also removing them from my playlists.
Other than that, the songs that are suggested are generally songs I like, and every so often I Shazam a song that isn’t available on Apple Music but that isn’t a big deal. Good music suggestions, but the app itself needs some work.
Decent but behind the times
Has all the music you could want, a slick design, and basic features but it still feels like Apple Music is just checking the boxes for a basic music player. There are no real stand-out features separating it from the competition. Using it day-to-day it is easy to see the glaring flaws that keep it in second place.
There is a song queueing system, but it isn’t practical in use. The way it is handed by competitors and by the Mac music app, where there is a play next and a play later and both are played before the rest of the playlist, is the ideal way to handle this feature. And when you do add music to up next or the library there’s a huge obstructive pop-up for each and every song.
Dolby Atmos is also overly hyped and mostly just a gimmick that does not improve the vast majority of songs. They sound better on stereo since that is how they were originally mixed. Maybe this will change in the future when songs are truly mixed in Amos, but for now the feature stays off for me.
The real redeeming quality of Apple Music is its integration with iOS. It’s great to use with the Apple Watch and during workouts. The live album artwork is also gorgeous, but it doesn’t show up in the library tab!
TL;DR: Apple Music mostly checks boxes. There are the beginnings of what could be stand-out features, but most of the implementation is lackluster.
