##Instructions: This app work on phones with and without flash, so obviously when the device doesn’t have flash the app will turn the screen brightness to it’s maximum.

####-If you have a flash:

-You can turn on and off the flash (when you pause or stop the application it’ll turn off)

-You can turn your screen brightness to it’s maximum. (It’ll glow so hard you’ll became a photosynthetic human being)

####-If you DON’T have a flash:

-You can turn your screen brightness to it’s maximum. (It’ll glow so hard you’ll became a photosynthetic human being)

-If you have your screen brightness to adapt automatically, it won’t work properly

The developer has a list of devices this app won’t work with for some reason in the Play Store listing. Otherwise, it’s a solid flashlight app.

Note about permissions on flashlight apps:

A lot of people may feel wary about every one of these asking for “Camera/Mic”. Unfortunately, this is Google’s fault. They have bundled the microphone and camera permissions into a single permission. A vast majority of camera apps never even try to access the mic but do require the Camera/Mic permission in order to access your device’s LED flash. This is totally unavoidable and you’ll never find a flashlight app without that permission (until you get to Android Marshmallow or higher when the app asks for these things separately).

You shouldn’t worry about microphone permissions. Even if these developers turned the microphone on, none of these apps have the permission to write to storage. Without the write to storage permission, they are unable to save any files at all to your device. That means the application is incapable of recording you.

Step 1: Manifest.xml in the android studio for Flashlight Application:

First of all, you need camera permission in the Manifest.xml file to make a flashlight app. Therefore, we will add some camera permission in our Android studio manifest.XML file. So, the permission codes are given below. Copy and paste these codes under the package name.

Step 2: MainActivity.XML For Flashlight using Android Studio:

Now, you need to open the layout folder and also open the main activity.XML file. Delete all existing code and paste the following code in the main activity.XML file.

Step 3: MainActivity.java Code For Android Flashlight App :

Now, You need to run the app MainActivity Java code. Therefore, you need to copy and paste the following code under your package name in the MainActivity.java file.

Objective

Step 1 Create New Project

Create a new project in Eclipse call FlashLightDemo

Step 2 Add Required Permission

Open your AndroidManifest.xml file and add required permissions.

android.permission.CAMERA: Required to access the camera device
android.hardware.camera: Required to access camera hardware features

Step 3 activity_main.xml

Now open activity_main.xml file located under res >> layout folder and type the following code. This layout file acts as main screen of the application.

Step 4 MainActivity.java file

Open your MainActivity.java file and do the following changes. Here we just declared required variables.

Step 5 Detecting whether device supporting flashlight or not

Detecting whether device supporting flashlight or not. Open MainActivity.java and add the following code. In the following code we are checking availability of the flashlight and if the device doesn’t support it, we’ll show alert dialog and close the application by calling finish() .
