INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY error in Android

When I am trying to run an android application which uses Google API I get the following error

[2009-07-11 11:46:43 — FirstMapView] Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY

Can anyone help me solve this error?

To get past INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY error with Google Maps for Android:

Install Google map APIs. This can be done in Eclipse Windows/Android SDK and AVD Manager -> Available Packages -> Third Party Add-ons -> Google Inc. -> Google APIs by Google Inc., Android API X

From command line create new AVD. This can be done by listing targets (android list targets), then android create avd -n new_avd_api_233 -t «Google Inc.:Google APIs:X»

Then create AVD (Android Virtual Device) in Eclipse Windows/Android SDK and AVD Manager -> New. -> (Name: new_avd_X, Target: Google APIs (Google Inc.) — API Level X)

IMPORTANT : You must create your AVD with Target as Google APIs (Google Inc.) otherwise it will again failed.

Create Android Project in Eclipse File/New/Android Project and select Google APIs Build Target.

Run Project as Android Application.

If error persists, then you still have problems, if it works, then this error is forever behind you.

Shared library missing in android.

02-18 00:02:08.432: ERROR/PackageManager(57): Package com.example.brown requires unavailable shared library com.google.android.maps; failing!

I got this exception in logcat.

Can anyone guide me?

As CommonsWare said, your emulator is missing the library. The Google Maps Library’s documentation’s Overview page has info on how to create the right kind of virtual device for the emulator. The gist is:

Launch the AVD Manager by using the android command without any options. If you are developing in Eclipse/ADT, you can also access the tool from Window > Android SDK and AVD Manager.

1. Click the «New» button to begin creating a new AVD.
2. In the dialog that appears, specify a name for the AVD and select the system image target that you want the AVD to use. Select one of the «Google APIs (Google Inc.)» targets, making sure to choose a version whose API Level matches the android:minSdkVersion attribute in your application’s manifest, as described above.
3. Configure the other options and then click «Create AVD».

Once you’ve finished creating the AVD, you can run it from the AVD Manager UI or you can use the emulator’s command-line interface. If you are developing in Eclipse, you can configure a Run Configuration to start the AVD and install your application on it.

INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY error in Android Studio — Java/Kotlin and Visual Studio — Xamarin

I am wanting to debug and install my application on a physical clock.

First I tried to create the application in Xamarin.Android, I finished the application and it worked very well in an emulator, but when I tried to send to the device, the following error appeared:

Then I created an empty project in AndroidStudio, just created the project, did not change any line of code, and tried to run the application on the device, so I got the following error:

Installation failed with message Failed to commit install session 1131471407 >with command cmd package install-commit 1131471407. Error: >INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY: Package couldn’t be installed in >/data/app/br.pinheiros.weardebug7-1: Package br.pinheiros.weardebug7 requires >unavailable shared library com.google.android.wearable; failing!. It is possible that this issue is resolved by uninstalling an existing >version of the apk if it is present, and then re-installing.

I understood that the two solutions are bringing the same error, something with Google Api, I have already changed all the developer settings in Wear.

Android Error on Installation: [INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY]

So this has been bugging me for a while now. It used to work fine when I put it on an actual android device, and only showed the error when I tried to install my app on a emulator but now it is showing up on both the emulator and the actual device. The error is:

INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY

I have a map application. I want to install it on a device having no maps library available. Can’t I burn in along the app.

No, you can’t «burn in along the app», unless you’re a pirate. Google Maps is software that is licensed by device manufacturers or is obtained from the Android Market. If a device does not have it, there is nothing you can do about that fact.

There is an undocumented android:required attribute on the element. However, we have been told it is safe to use, that it being missing from the documentation is merely a documentation bug. You can use android:required=»false» to allow your app to run on a device that lacks Google Maps. This does not magically add Google Maps, though, and so if you try to start a MapActivity , it will crash. But, using Class.forName() , you can see if MapActivity exists, and if it does not, do something else for your maps (e.g., WebView and Web-based Google Maps, OpenStreetMap).
