Для большинства пользователей плюс от появления USB Type-C в смартфонах всего один: кабель для зарядки не нужно подносить к глазам, чтобы посмотреть, какой стороной вставить в разъем устройства. В темноте эта процедура еще неудобнее — нужно тыкать металлическим коннектором наугад. Как итог — небольшие царапины вокруг гнезда зарядки.
USB Type-C решает проблему: разворачивать кабель не придется, главное — попасть. Второй плюс в сравнении с типичным microUSB — устойчивость: как правило, Type-C держится в гнезде плотнее, чем кабели предыдущих поколений.
Но дальше все еще интереснее. Для начала нужно отделить USB Type-C от USB 3.1: первое — обычный разъем, а второе — стандарт, но они идут параллельным курсом. Номинально USB 3.1 поддерживает скорость 10 Гбит/секунду и напряжение 20В (100W). Отсюда вывод: скоро при помощи миниатюрного USB Type-C кабеля можно будет заряжать ноутбуки (мощность — до 60W): долой огромные кабели с блоками питания.
Такое решение уже реализовано в 12-дюймовом Apple MacBook. Там разъем Type-C — единственный: Apple хотела продемонстрировать универсальность этой технологии, поэтому отказалась от остальных гнезд. USB Type-C и правда достаточно, чтобы подключать мониторы, периферию, заряжать другие гаджеты и подпитывать энергией само устройство. Стоит признать: «на бумаге» Type-C близок к тому, чтобы стать единым разъемом для всех технических приборов. По крайней мере, мощности хватит.
Однако все не так просто: есть версия, что по некоторым параметрам современные гаджеты сами еще не доросли до USB Type-C и USB 3.1. Например, мобильный процессор Snapdragon 820 (самый актуальный для первой половины 2016 года) тянет только USB 3.0 (до 500 Мбайт в секунду), но не 3.1. Иногда от Type-C отказываются целые компании. Samsung Galaxy S7 мог получить этот разъем, но не получил по трем причинам. Во-первых, руководители корейской корпорации посчитали, что рынок не готов к таким изменениям — все привыкли к microUSB. Во-вторых, у Samsung и так есть быстрая зарядка. В-третьих, шлем виртуальной реальности Gear VR имеет разъем microUSB. По слухам, Type-C появится в Galaxy Note 7, который будет анонсирован уже через месяц.
Apple тоже не спешит отказываться от lightning в пользу Type-C, но в конце 2015 года проскочила информация о том, что в Купертино тестируют iPhone с сенсорной клавишей Home и другим разъемом. Соответственно, в теории американцы готовы подчиниться общему тренду, но в 2016 году массового перехода на Type-C точно не произойдет. Скорее всего, революция отложена на 2017-й.

Huawei Nexus 6P
