You can check if a provider is an Independent Repair Provider or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Independent Repair Providers have access to Apple genuine parts and repair resources. Independent Repair Providers do not provide repairs covered by Apple’s warranty or AppleCare plans* but may offer their own repair warranty.

*Unless required by law, repairs made by Independent Repair Providers are not backed by Apple. Any damage that your device may incur by a non-Apple authorized repair provider is not covered by Apple’s Limited Warranty or an AppleCare plan.

How do I get service for my Mac?

To get service for your Mac, you can make a reservation at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. Make sure you know your Apple ID and password before your appointment. Or, if you have a Mac notebook, contact us and we’ll send you a box you can use to send it to an Apple Repair Centre. We’ll return your repaired product to you as quickly as possible. Depending on where you get service, you might be able to check the status of your repair online.

Hardware service may no longer be available for older Macs. Contact your local provider to enquire about available service options.

How much will it cost?

There’s no charge if the issue is covered under warranty, AppleCare+ or consumer law. If your issue isn’t covered, the price depends on the type of repair. Ask your service representative for an estimate.

Battery service

If you’re experiencing an issue with your battery, your Mac notebook may not require a repair. These tips show you how to maximise your battery performance. If you can’t turn on your Mac or if the screen turns black, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Your Mac notebook battery service may be covered by warranty, consumer law or AppleCare+. These prices are for out-of-warranty service. We may need to test your product to determine the final service fee.

Accessories

Apple-branded accessories are covered under the Apple One-Year Limited Warranty. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use. If your accessory’s battery is depleted and your warranty has expired, you can replace the accessory’s battery for a fee.

Is your Mac covered by AppleCare+?

AppleCare+ gives you expert technical support and hardware cover from Apple, including accidental damage protection. Each incident of accidental damage is subject to an excess fee.

If you don’t have AppleCare+, you’ll pay the out-of-warranty fee for that type of repair.

These fees apply in the United Kingdom. All prices are in British pounds sterling (£) and include VAT. AppleCare+ does not cover excessive physical damage, including catastrophic damage due to liquid contact or submersion, or damage caused by the presence of hazardous materials. Devices modified by unauthorised service providers are not eligible for AppleCare+ accidental damage cover unless all original parts are returned to Apple.

Get ready for a service

Before you return your Mac to us, make sure you enable FileVault and back up your data. You may need the backup if your Mac needs to be reformatted during the repair process. Apple isn’t responsible for lost data.

Apple Limited Warranty and proof of purchase

The Apple Limited Warranty covers your Mac and the accessories that come with it against manufacturing defects for one year from the date when you bought your product. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Our warranty doesn’t cover damage caused by accidents or unauthorised modifications. See the warranty for complete details. You can check your cover status online and update your proof-of-purchase information if there’s an error in our records. If our warranty, your AppleCare plan or consumer law don’t cover your repair, you’ll pay out-of-warranty fees.

Consumer law

Your country or region may have consumer protection laws for some repair issues.

Our after-service guarantee

We guarantee our service, including replacement parts, for 90 days or the remaining term of your Apple warranty or AppleCare plan cover, whichever is longer. We offer this whenever you have a device serviced by us or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. This is in addition to your rights provided by consumer law.

What are the service options for my iPad?

Choose the service and repair option that’s best for you.

Mail-in service: Request a box and send your iPad to an Apple Repair Center.

Carry-in service: Set up an appointment at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

How long will it take?

Depending on the type of service, your repair might take up to 5 business days. If your iPad was engraved by Apple, it could take up to 10 business days.

After we receive your iPad, you can check the status of your repair.

How much does it cost?

If your iPad issue is covered under our warranty you won’t pay a fee. If your iPad issue isn’t covered, you’ll pay a fee, which will be either an out-of-warranty fee or an AppleCare+ service fee. See the applicable fees on this page.

Is your iPad covered by AppleCare+?

AppleCare+ gives you expert technical support and hardware coverage from Apple, including accidental damage protection. Each incident of accidental damage is subject to a service fee.

If your battery has an issue that’s covered by the Apple Limited Warranty, AppleCare+, or consumer law, we’ll service your iPad or Apple Pencil at no additional cost. We’ll test your iPad to see if it has a battery issue or a different power issue. If your iPad has a different battery power issue, we’ll give you the repair price after we determine the cause.

Your iPad battery’s performance depends on how you use apps and settings. These tips show you how to maximize the life of your iPad battery.

If your iPad won’t turn on or if the screen turns black, follow these steps and see if the issue gets resolved. Your iPad might not require service.

Screen repair

If your iPad screen breaks accidentally, you have the option to replace your iPad for an out-of-warranty fee. Accidental damage isn’t covered by the Apple warranty. If your screen cracks due to a manufacturing issue, it’s covered by the Apple warranty.

The cost to service an iPad with an accidentally damaged screen depends on your iPad model, any additional damage, and if you have AppleCare+ coverage.

If you have AppleCare+, it includes accidental damage protection. Each incident has a service fee. You can use an incident for screen damage. If you don’t have AppleCare+, the out-of-warranty fee applies.

Apple accessories

The Apple-branded accessories that come in the box with your product, including the cable and power adapter, are covered by the Apple Limited Warranty for accessories, your AppleCare+ plan, and consumer law.

The following Apple accessories for iPad are also covered under AppleCare+ for iPad, including accidental damage. You can use an incident of accidental damage included in AppleCare+ for iPad to cover the damage to these accessories. Or you can pay the out-of-warranty service fee.

What to expect

Before you send your iPad to us, be sure to back up your data and prepare your iPad for replacement. Your replacement device won’t have your data on it, and you’ll need to restore that data from your backup.

After we receive your iPad, we’ll send you information about repair, replacement, and fees. If your iPad needs to be replaced, we’ll ship a replacement to you with factory settings. Your replacement iPad will be new or equivalent to new.

Express Replacement Service

Express Replacement Service is a benefit of your AppleCare plan.
