Overall, the value of exported apples increased by an average 1.1% for all exporting countries since 2016 when worldwide shipments of apples were valued at $7.2 billion.
From 2019 to 2020, globally exported apples appreciated by 4.3% from 2019 to 2020.
The 5 biggest exporters (China, Italy, United States, New Zealand, Chile) generated 60.5% of international sales of apples during 2020.
Among continents, European countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported fresh apples during 2020 with shipments valued at $2.8 billion or 38.7% of the worldwide total. In second place were Asian exporters at 26.1% while 12.1% of international apples sold originated from North America.
Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean accounted for another 9.3% worth, trailed by Oceania at 8.1% mostly New Zealand, then apple suppliers in Africa at 5.6%.
