How to buy

  1. Purchase either AppleCare+ product with your new iPhone.
  2. Or buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase:
    • On your device (go to Settings > General > About and choose AppleCare+ Coverage Available)
    • Online (requires you to verify your serial number and run a remote diagnostic)
    • At an Apple Store (inspection of iPhone and proof of purchase are required)

The replacement equipment that Apple provides as part of the repair or replacement service may be new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability. There are no service fees or deductibles for mechanical failures.   2. Local telephone fees may apply. Telephone numbers and hours of operation may vary and are subject to change.
  3. Coverage begins on your AppleCare+ purchase date. Any unused incidents will expire after 12 months of coverage and you will get two more incidents to use within the next 12 months of continued coverage.
  4. Express Replacement Service is not available under the screen replacement or back glass damage service fee.

Theft and loss coverage requires you to have Find My iPhone enabled on your device at the time it is lost or stolen. Find My iPhone should remain enabled and your iPhone should remain associated with your Apple ID throughout the theft or loss claim process. During the theft or loss claims process, you will be asked to erase your missing device, disable it, and transfer ownership before you can be issued a new device.

To ensure that you can sign in and access Find My iPhone, it’s important to remember your Apple ID and password and keep your account information up to date. If you use two-factor authentication for Apple ID, it’s recommended that you add an additional trusted phone number to your account so that you can receive the six-digit verification code required to sign in even if your iPhone is missing.

Question: Q: Apple Care & One To One.

I’m buying my MBA 13″ 128GB SSD 2GB RAM and a SuperDrive on Saturday at the Palm Desert,Ca Apple Store and I’ve thought about also buying Apple Care. Has anyone else here done that? Sine all of us are within our 1 year warranty and everyone is still covered, it might not seem as important today but on day 366, it might.

Also, since I’m new to all things Macintosh, I was considering also purchasing the One To One training. Every time I’ve been to this store, it is nearly full, and there are what appears to be informative training groups huddled together. I’ve seen both iPads and iPhones clutched by the attendees with an Apple Store associate in the center of the huddle talking about various functions of each. Anyone with experience with this training?

Like TonyT1 I also recommend getting AppleCare. You can purchase AppleCare anytime within the first year of ownership. Also if you do a little shopping you can find AppleCare discounted from reputable Apple resellers such as Amazon and LA Computer Company. Amazon is currently selling it for $202 and LA Computer Company for $179!

As far as the One To One training, use the links TonyTI has provided they’re very useful. Most people don’t need the Apple training if they study these links and are somewhat familiar with computers in general. There are many many web sites for people switching from PC’s to a Mac. I’ve found the Apple online tutorials to be invaluable!

Absolutely buy Apple Care. For a desktop computer, I’d say you might not need it, but I’d never buy a laptop without it. These are very well built machines, but they’re still laptops meaning there is a lot of little stuff in very little space. Things can just go wrong, and even if only one little thing goes wrong in those extra two years—like a stuck key or trackpad—the Apple Care will still likely pay for itself (and, as said, you can wait for a year if you don’t want to pay out right then and there).

Also, remember that with that Apple Care you get three years of being able to call Apple, free of charge, with any question you might have on just about anything. So if you’re trying to connect to the internet and can’t, you can get on the phone with someone to find out why and maybe fix it.

As for one-on-one. that’s really up to you. If you want to plunge in that way, go for it. But you might want to play with the computer and attend some of those free group classes on things like iPhoto and iCal first—see just how steep the learning curve really is for you. You might find it easier and more intuitive to learn how to use a Mac than you thought it’d be. If you’re switching from a windows machine, then you might like this book:
