Artwork requirements

Your artwork is what helps listeners visually identify your podcast and should represent the brand or logo of your show. Creating interesting and compelling artwork can help your show attract new listeners and gain new followers and subscribers. As a general rule, keep artwork simple and legible.

Artwork must be original and can’t contain any of the following:

  • Blurry, misaligned, mismatched, or pixelated images
  • Explicit language
  • Placeholder images
  • Apple Inc., Apple Podcasts, or iTunes Store logos
  • The terms Apple Inc., Apple Podcasts, Apple Music, iTunes Store, or iTunes
  • Visual representation of Apple hardware
  • References to illegal drugs, profanity, or violence
  • Ads, sponsor logos, or marketing copy

Artwork guidelines and templates

Use the templates below as a guide and follow the technical specifications and instructions to create and deliver all assets. Both JPG and PNG are acceptable file types, with the exception of Channel Logo artwork, which must be a transparent PNG.

Shows

Show Cover

A successful Show Cover makes a visual impact and immediately draws in listeners with simplicity and legibility. This artwork is required.

Guidelines

  • Should contain your logo and key art.
  • Avoid putting important artwork elements at the bottom fifth of your image as they may be obscured by play progress, labels, or subscription offerings.

  • Placement: Everywhere
  • Device support: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS
  • Size: Square; 3000 x 3000 pixels. If you’re submitting your show via RSS feed, Apple Podcasts accepts show cover artwork ranging from 1400 x 1400 to 3000 x 3000 pixels. The largest size is preferred.
  • File type: JPEG or PNG

Episodes

While show artwork is a requirement for all podcast submissions, episode artwork is optional and can be added only to shows submitted via an RSS feed. Episode artwork is a great way to attract new listeners. Consider creating unique images for each episode that focus on the talent or topics covered.

Channels

Channel Icon

A Channel Icon is a graphic symbol that represents your channel and is used in large and small sizes throughout the Podcasts app. Think of this as your channel’s profile pic. It is the first thing that a potential listener sees when searching for your channel. Your icon can be imagery, something abstract, or typographically based. This artwork is required.

Guidelines

  • Avoid using small, detailed imagery.
  • Icons should be legible at small sizes.
  • Ensure the icon is centered and keep in mind that it will be cropped into a circle.

Sample and template

A Channel Logo is delivered as a transparent PNG file. It is overlaid on either your Channel Background color selected in Apple Podcasts Connect or your Channel Background art supplied to Apple. To set your Channel Background color, enter a hex value or open the color picker and select the shade you want. A hex value is a six-digit code used to specify a color.

Guidelines

  • Use horizontal logos.
  • Center your logo within the template and do not extend it beyond the template.
  • Lock up primary and secondary logos together in the middle of the template.
  • Maximize the available template space by scaling the logo to the edge of the template.
  • Be mindful of the logo color to ensure it is legible when placed onto the Channel Background. For example, do not use a white logo on a white background.

Promotional Banner

A Promotional Banner represents your subscription offering as an icon in banners, payment pages, and email notifications. This artwork is required.

Guidelines

  • Keep the design simple and legible at small sizes.
  • The design should represent the brand of your subscription offering.

Subscription Primary Promotion art appears when a listener tries to play content that requires a subscription, and on a channel or show pages that have subscription offerings available that a listener has not yet subscribed to.

Apple Podcasts Identity Guidelines

Great podcasts deserve great marketing. The key to a great marketing campaign is clear and effective messaging. To comply with Apple requirements and receive the greatest benefit from your communications, follow these guidelines when promoting Apple Podcasts in marketing communications, including advertising, apps, websites, and printed promotions.

Create a clear and memorable call to action by including the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge in digital and printed marketing materials.

Use the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge when linking to episodes, shows, or channels on Apple Podcasts.

1.1 Badge Artwork

Use only the badge artwork provided by Apple. Never create your own Apple Podcasts badge or change the artwork in any way.

If you create marketing material for the web or onscreen communications, use the high-resolution scalable artwork in SVG format. For printed material, use the badge artwork in EPS format in the color profile (CMYK or RGB) that matches the color profile of your print production mechanical.

1.2 Localized Badges

Apple offers the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge artwork with the words Listen on translated into many languages. The trademark Apple Podcasts always appears in English. Never translate the words Apple Podcasts. Do not create your own translated or localized badge.

1.3 Badge Placement

Use only one Listen on Apple Podcasts badge. Place the badge below or to the right of the images and copy promoting your content. Keep the badge smaller than the other images and main message. Don’t make it the dominant artwork.

If you include the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge along with badges for other services, place the Apple Podcasts badge first in the lineup of badges.

Do not display the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge and the Apple Podcasts icon together.

1.4 Minimum Clear Space

Follow these guidelines for print and digital material: Minimum clear space around the badge should be at least one-tenth the height of the badge. Don’t place photos, typography, or other graphic elements inside the minimum clear space area. Allow more space whenever possible.

1.5 Minimum Size

Minimum badge size is 8 mm for printed materials and 30 pixels for digital use. Don’t make the badge the dominant graphic. The small badge should be 12 pixels high or larger.

On Mobile Devices

If you have advertising with very limited layout space, such as banners for mobile devices, use a badge size that’s clearly readable on these devices. Minimum clear space around the badge should be at least one-tenth the height of the badge.

1.6 Backgrounds

Do not alter the Apple-provided badge artwork in any way. The gray border around the badge is part of the badge artwork and must not be left out.

You can place the badge on these backgrounds:

  • Black or white background
  • Solid-color background
  • Background image that doesn’t affect the readability of the badge

1.7 Avoid Mistakes

Avoid mistakes. Use the artwork exactly as provided by Apple.

  • Do not eliminate the Listen on call-to-action message.
  • Do not modify, angle, animate, rotate, or tilt the badge.
  • Do not apply special effects such as shadows or glows to the badge.
  • Do not alter the artwork in any way.
  • Do not use icons, logos, or graphics from the Apple website or from Apple apps.
  • Do not imitate Apple communications.
  • Do not use the Apple logo alone.

1.8 Examples

Web Page Place the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge directly within or near content related to the podcast. The badge must link to a show on Apple Podcasts.

Social Include the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge in the header of your social pages, so your social media followers know they can find your show on Apple Podcasts.

App Place the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge directly within or near content related to the Podcast. The badge must link to a show on Apple Podcasts.

Print Ad Place the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge adjacent to or immediately following imagery or messaging about your show. You should make clear what content is offered on Apple Podcasts.

The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is a combination of the Apple Podcasts icon with the message Listen on Apple Podcasts set in specially designed type. The lockup does not contain a border, and the elements are not contained inside a shape. Use only the artwork provided by Apple and do not alter the artwork in any way

Use the Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup when linking to episodes, shows, or channels on Apple Podcasts.

A lockup can be used in all marketing communications promoting podcast content on Apple Podcasts. If badges from other podcast services appear on your communication, do not use a lockup. Instead, use the appropriate Apple Podcasts badge.

The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is designed for greater graphic versatility and can be used on layouts where the Listen on Apple Podcasts badge is either crowded by limited layout space or appears visually heavy in the layout. The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is especially suited to banner ads, print ads, and other forms of advertising. Whenever a lockup is used online, you must include a link to Apple Podcasts.

The Listen on Apple Podcasts lockup is a promise to your audience of a high-quality listening experience. Follow these guidelines to make sure you’re using the Apple Podcasts lockup correctly.
