Apple Crisp

Crunchy, crispy apple crisp recipe! This is the easiest of the apple desserts. Just bake sliced tart apples topped with a streusel oat topping, with plenty of brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Serve with ice cream!

This apple crisp recipe comes from my friend Sue Jackson of Littleton, Massachusetts. She introduced it to me years ago and it has since become a favorite.

Easy Apple Crisp Recipe

One of the reasons I love this recipe is how easy it is to make. It’s as no-fuss as you can get.

  • To make it, you just layer sliced peeled apples that have been tossed with lemon juice and vanilla in a baking pan.
  • Then top the apples with a mixture of brown sugar, butter, cinnamon and oats
  • Bake!

Crunchy Apple Crisp Topping

It’s the crunchy topping that makes the apple crisp «crisp.» The brown sugar, oatmeal, and butter topping mixture caramelizes while it bakes, giving you a blanked of crispy, caramel-y wonderfulness over the baked apple slices.

Leftover Apple Crisp for Breakfast

Just like a slice of apple pie makes the best breakfast, so does this apple crisp! Make extra for leftovers, and serve a spoonful on top of a bowl of yogurt.

Apple crisp (яблочный крисп)

Ингредиенты

  • -на форму диаметром около 30см —
  • 4-5 средних яблочек
  • 6 ст.л. сахара
  • 1/2 ст. муки
  • 3/4 ст. овсяных хлопьев
  • 1/2 ст. масла (примерно 115 гр. )
  • 1/2 ст. воды
  • объем ст. 200 мл.

Пошаговый рецепт приготовления

яблоки очистить (хотя я не чищу), удалить серединку, мелко порезать. выложить в форму. можно сбрызнуть лимонным соком.

в миске смешать сахар, муку, овсянку и подтаявшее масло. мять руками до состояния крошки. масса может быть немного липкой.

крошку распределить поверх яблок.

воду равномерно разбрызгать поверх крошки.

поставить в предварительно разогретую до 190*С духовку примерно на 30мин (пока яблоки не испекутся)

подавать в теплом виде. сверху очень рекомендую мороженое. можно взбитые сливки. сойдет и сметанка.

представьте: нижний слой нежные теплые печеные яблочки, затем хрустящие крошки, а сверху прохладное мороженое. ммм. не пожалеете!

1) прежде всего должна сказать, что это не торжественный десерт. это быстрый, обыденный (хотя и безумно вкусный) десерт к ужину. 2) дочь моя кашу-овсянку ненавидит, но в этом виде овсянку лопает и добавки требует. на моё коварное замечание ответила, что мука с молоком тоже гадость, а вот блинчики-совсем другое дело. 3) если яблоки сладкие, то сахара поменьше наверное надо. хотя без него тоже нельзя. 4) если удваиваете рецепт, то воду удваивать не надо. 5) можно добавить специи. в частности корицу. 5,5) я иногда заменяю муку перемолотой овсянкой (главное фото). с ней крошка мельче и ровнее ложится. с мукой крошка более крупная и липкая (первое доп. фото) 6) никто это ровными треугольничками не режет обычно большой ложкой выкладывают в пиалку (или типа того) и сверху «топпинг» по вкусу (второе доп. фото). 7) apple crisp и apple crumbl отличаются тем, что первый едят в америке, а второй — в англии. хотя может меня и обманули поправьте, если что.. как совершенно верно заметила ирусик, можно делать крисп с любыми другими фруктами/ягодами

  • All-purpose flour
  • Old fashioned rolled oats
  • Light brown sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Unsalted butter
  • Granny Smith apples
  • Lemon
  • Vanilla extract

How to Make Apple Crisp

  • Adjust oven rack and preheat oven. Butter baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl whisk together 1/2 cup flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, baking powder, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp salt.
  • Rub butter into dry mixture with fingertips until it comes together into small crumbles. Refrigerate.
  • In a bowl whisk together melted butter and flour until well blended, then mix in water, lemon juice and vanilla. Stir in 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and pinch of salt.
  • Toss apples with butter mixture in a bowl then pour into prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with crumble apple crisp topping.
  • Bake in preheated oven until top is golden brown and apples are tender.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

What Are the Best Apples for Apple Crisp?

I prefer using a sturdy cooking apple that’s slightly tart, like Granny Smiths. Other apples would work, like braeburn or golden delicious, but sugar amounts and bake times might need to be adjusted.

Your apples should also be room temperature (this ensures that they bake evenly in the oven).

What Should I Serve on Top?

The best way to serve this always with vanilla ice cream. Then for an added bonus if you have time make some homemade salted caramel sauce.

Tips for the Best Apple Crisp

  • Be sure to slice your apples thinly so they become fully tender. No one wants a crunchy apple in their apple crisp.
  • Stick with granny smith apples for consistent results.
  • If you only have salted butter on hand, reduce the salt in the topping to 1/8 tsp and omit the salt in the filling.
  • Serve this homemade apple crisp freshly baked and warm. It will be okay for a couple of days, but the topping does start to soften up so I like it best fresh.

Crisps, cobblers, crumbles—there’s a lot of confusion in the fruit dessert with a sweet topping world. The apple crisp might be the best of the category: sweet and tender apples topped with a crispy, buttery combination of oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter. It’s warm and lightly spiced, making it perfect for fall.

First, make the simple topping using a food processor or by hand. Peel and slice the apples and toss them in a little cinnamon and brown sugar before topping with the oatmeal mixture and baking. Any good baking apples will work for this recipe. If you’d like a tarter crisp, use a tart apple like Granny Smith. For a sweeter crisp, use a variety like Braeburn, Pink Lady, or Fuji.
