I am having trouble setting up an airport express to extend my wireless network from an airport extreme. It is giving me an error 6753 on my airport express.

The solution to this common problem is: enable IPv6 in your wireless network settings (on your computer with AirPort Utility). You will be able to connect to your device. It is because fresh AirPort Extreme (or Time Capsule) use IPv6, not IPv4.

It took me three hours to figure this out. However it is 100% working solution in my case: no IPv6 — no connection to a clean AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule.

At this point I would recommend at least two things: 1) Perform a «factory default» reset on both base station to be sure they are in their «out-of-the-box» configurations, and 2) Temporarily connect the AirPort Express to one of the available LAN ports on the Extreme during the setup phase. Once the setup is successful, you can remove the Express and place it at the desired location.

I have a similar prob but more basic! Straight out of the box, I get 6753 error when the airport set up is trying to read the new time capsule. this happens with either my new Mac pro I bought 2 months ago or my girfriends old mac book air.

Stumped! I get to the 2nd step in the support article before I’m out of options.

I’m an ex PC user, so maybe I am still adapting to how «easy» this is meant to be and missing something really basic?

Question: Q: Apple Airport Express Error Code -6753

I have just bought my third Airport Express. I have 2 already set up in different rooms and wanted a third for yet another room.

I have a wireless network that I want it to join along with the others.

I cannot connnect to it to configure it. Here are all the ways I have tried.

1. From a Vista laptop using the Utility that came on the disk. The device appears in teh list with the amber dot next to it, but when I try to connect to it I get a pop up that says it will connect to it, and disconnect from my existing network, which is fine. But nothing happens. So no joy.

2. Tried the same from my XP desktop PC that also has a wireless adapter. Still no joy. It detects the new wireless network but cannot connect to it.

3. From my Mac Mini. No joy whatsoever — doesnt even detect the new network created by it.

4. Coonected an ethernet cable, looked up the ip address, then tried to connect to it directly using «Other» on the XP PC. This time it asks for the password, which I enter «public» — then I just get an error code -6753.

Mini, Mac OS X (10.4.11), plus PC with XP and laptop with Vista

Having just set up my first AE yesterday, I’m no expert. But, if my experience was anything to go by, I’d suggest that you have the AE express connected to the router via ethernet cable during set up, as well as have any firewall turned off. Make sure the AE is factory reset just before you start. Also, download 5.3.1 from here rather than use the disk:

I got 6753 a few times myself. I reset my router, restarted my PC, unplugged the cable between AE and router, and reconnected it. After an hour of trying various permutations of the above, it worked. Not sure how. Good luck.

Well its been weeks now of unplugging, downloading etc — all my other AE’s are fine (on 6.3) this one I still cannot connect to. I already had the 5.3.1 utility on my Vista laptop — this could see it, try to connect with it, but then do nothing. I downloaded 5.3.1 for XP — that gave me a DLL error, then I upgraded to SP3, now it runs, but doent even see the new AE. The Mac is still not seeing it at all either. What a load of crap! I cannot be the only person in the world to be having these problems — where is the help from Apple?

Hi:
You said an «amber» light.
Flashing or solid ?
If solid, I believe that the unit is still «thinklng».
If slowly flashing, you have a problem. try a warm start (paperclip reset).
I believe that you need a solid green light icon in the Airport Utility window in order to have a «go».

The password may not be «public».
It depends on what type of network you are setting up.
For examlpe:
I am setting up a connection to a WEP-64 LinkSys 54 G wirless network.
Here, the «password» must match the «encryption» word used for setting up
the LinkSys router, but you must precede the encryption word with a $ to signify hexadecimal. A different form of encryption may
not need the $. Trial & error.
It is a good idea to have a printout of your router configuartion on hand
when you try to setup the Airport Express.

If at all possible, switch your encryption to WPA . it just works better than WEP. If you have XP, you might need a hotfix from Microsoft.

1 Open up your router software: choose WPA PSK.
2 Type in passphrase, copy the key that is generated.
3 If your router gives you an option for AES or TKIP, choose one or the other (or mixed, if you have that).

Do not save yet. Keep the router page open on your desktop.

4 Open up your Airport Express Utility.
5 Enter the new key (not the passphrase) into the Airport Express.
6 Save this.
7 If you have any other devices on your network that require the key, open them and change the key.
8 Now, return to the router/access point page that is open on your desktop.
9 Save.
9 Your wireless network card also has to be changed in order to reflect this.
10 Open up the NIC by right-clicking on the icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop. In Vista, you can also access this through Network->Network Sharing ->Status -> Wireless Properties -> Security. Add your security type, (TKIP or AES) and your key.
11 Turn off your computer.
12 Turn your computer back on.

Also, unplug AE, unplug router, and unplug modem. Plug in modem, plug in router, and plug in AE.

Airport Express to PC — Error 6753

I recently purchased two Airport Expresses for my home, which has a Mac and two PC’s. I set up the network using Airport Utility, and it works fine on my Macbook Pro and our laptop PC. However, on the desktop, I cannot get the internet to work. The computer recognizes the signal and connects to my network, but the actual internet won’t work. I installed AirPort Utility and tried to see what the problem was, but when I press continue, I get «An error occurred while trying to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again Error -6753»

I don’t know what to make of this, and I’d really appreciate some help, because I need internet on this computer.

I’ve owned an Airport Express for several years and have been using it succesfully to stream music from iTunes to my receiver. Recently it stopped working and I tried several times to get it working again. The status light was green, but whenever I tried to use the Airport utility I would get an error 6753 from Airport utility when reading the configuration from the Airport Express.

I am using a Linksys WRT110 wireless router and I couldn’t think of what was wrong, so I did the following which corrected the issue:

1. Downloaded the latest firmware update for the router from the linksys support pages and updated to that version.
2. I did a complete hard reset on the router and re-configured it.
3. When configuring the router’s wireless security I selected AES/TKIP.

The Airport Express works fine and I think it has something to do with the security settings. I remembered that awhile ago I had to reconfigure the router and selected WPA/2 and AES, not the AES/TKIP option. It has been awhile, and I don’t think that I have used the Airport Express since I made that change. All I know is that it now works, so if you are getting the 6753 error message, you might want to check the wireless security settings on your router.

I just solved error 6753 on my machine. Thought I’d shed some light for any future readers.

I’m using windows 7 with an older airport express (firmware 6.3).

After resetting the express (using a pin on the reset button), I could only access it if I manually told my computer to switch networks from my current home network to the airport express network (base station XXXXXX). Afterwards, if I loaded the airport software, I could connect and configure the express.

When I configured the express to join my current home network, I again ran into problems. The software resetted the device, and even though its light was green, the airport software could no longer connect to it.

Even more interestingly, when logged into my home router, I saw that the express wasn’t connected to the network as I expected it should be.

Interestingly enough, I fixed it by changing the channel of my home wireless network. I.e.

(1) Tell my computer to switch back to my proper home network, if it hadn’t already.
(2) Log into my home router (192.168.0.1).
(3) Adjust the router settings by assigning a new channel, keeping everything else the same.

I’m not sure why this solved the problem. I’d guess that the actual channel has nothing to do with it, but changing channels somehow caused the router to reboot, and allowed all devices (including the express) to somehow reconnect properly.

I see the previous post suggests adjusting wireless router settings to change security types. I`m wondering if, in both circumstances, we forced the router to reboot, which really solved the problem.

Question: Q: Error -6753 Can see Express in AirPort Utility, but error trying to access

Purchased both new from Apple Store 8/6/10
MC340LL/A Airport Extreme Sim Dualband
MB321LL/A Airport Express Base Station N

*Goal: To print wirelessly from both Windoze desktop and MacBook to two printers connected via USB hub at the Airport Express on the other side of room.*

Have had the Extreme up and running as my wireless router since purchase. Today, I started working on setting up the Express for wireless printing. Express is less than 12 feet from Extreme and if they had eyeballs they would be able to stare at one another.

Airport Utility would not discover Express when connected across the room. I moved Express to outlet 3 feet from Extreme and connected via Ethernet cable resulting in Airport Utility now recognizing Express «Base Station ec7e47» in the list. Amber light flashing on Express; Amber light beside Express in the Utility list.

Clicking «Continue» or «Manual Setup» results in Error pop-up:
«*+An error occurred while trying to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again. Error -6753. +*»

*Extreme Settings:*
Mode: Create a wireless network
Security: WPA2 Personal
Channel: 149 auto, 6 auto
Clients: 0
Network is set to allow it to be extended
Guest Network enabled, and guest clients allowed to communicate with each other
Mac Address Access Control: Not Enabled

Note, the IP addresses of the two units differ greatly. in case that matters.

I’ve begun searching for this error code on Apple support pages, this discussion forum, as well as via Google and resulting links.

I would greatly appreciate assistance «for dummies» on what steps I should take to get this working. Thanks so much in advance.

Hopefully, you are using a Mac to configure the AirPort Express to eliminate the possibility of the Windows Firewall or anti-virus software on a PC causing issues with communications between devices.

Try a factory default reset on the AirPort Express (AX) as follows:

Power off the AX and let it rest for 5-10 minutes
Hold in the reset button and while you continue to hold the reset button in, plug the AX in to power
Keep holding the reset button until you see the amber light begin to flash more quickly, keep holding another second or two when you see this and then release.

Temporarily, connect an ethernet cable from your Mac to the AX
Open AirPort Utility to see if you can communicate fully with the AX. When you have completed the configuration and updated the AX, you can disconnect the ethernet cable.

Don’t panic when you see the AX «disappear» from AirPort Utility when you click Update. Close AirPort Utility as soon as you see the message that the settings have been saved and disconnect the ethernet cable. It will take the AX 20-25 seconds to restart.

Восстановление iPhone
