The Apple Store evokes awe and worship in many Apple product devotees? we??ve all heard the news stories about people camping out in the street to be the first online to buy the new I-pad or whatever the latest it-thing Apple puts out every 6 months. I??m not a hardcore apple fan, but I do use my two I-pods (yes, I??m a singer, and so I have two I-pod nanos, one a bit older than the other, and I alternate between the two when the battery charge dies out on one or the other) each and everyday on my long subway ride and elsewhere (I don??t even know how people ride the subway without an I-pod?). I went to the store once to get my I-pod repaired- it was still under warranty, even though it was used, as it had been bought re-furbished with a warranty. The staff, or Apple ??Geniuses? as they are called were as hip looking as any staff (wait, ??staff?- that??s an unhip word? they??re ??geniuses?, not staff)- ethnically diverse, alternatively tattooed, pierced, or dreadlocked, all some form of a moonlighting artist or theater person, attentive, efficient, knowledgeable about the product(s) and warm.

Many visitors go to check out the design of the building itself- entirely made of four glass walls, with a cool spiral staircase and elevator in the middle that is cylindrical glass tube. The space is warm, open and interactive, full of people checking out the latest apple computers, I-pods and pads, and a host of other gadgets.
