Move from Android to iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Ready to transfer to iOS? Download the Move to iOS app to get help switching from your Android device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If you can’t use the Google Play Store, learn how to download Move to iOS.
Before you begin
- On your Android device, make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on.
- Plug your new iOS device and your Android device into power.
- Make sure that the content you’re moving, including what’s on your external Micro SD card, will fit on your new iOS device
- If you want to transfer your Chrome bookmarks, update to the latest version of Chrome on your Android device.
Tap Move Data from Android
While you set up your new iOS device, look for the Apps & Data screen. Then tap Move Data from Android. (If you already finished setup, you need to erase your iOS device and start over. If you don’t want to erase, just transfer your content manually.)
Open the Move to iOS app
On your Android device, open the Move to iOS app. If you don’t have the Move to iOS app, you can tap the QR code button on your new iOS device and scan the QR code using the camera on your Android device to open the Google Play Store. Tap Continue, and read the terms and conditions that appear. To continue, tap Agree.
Wait for a code
On your iOS device, tap Continue when you see the Move from Android screen. Then wait for a ten-digit or six-digit code to appear. If your Android device shows an alert that you have a weak internet connection, you can ignore the alert.
Use the code
Enter the code on your Android device.
Connect to a temporary Wi-Fi network
Your iOS device will create a temporary Wi-Fi network. When asked, tap Connect to join that network on your Android device. Then wait for the Transfer Data screen to appear.
Choose your content and wait
On your Android device, select the content that you want to transfer and tap Continue. Then—even if your Android device shows that the process is complete—leave both devices alone until the loading bar that appears on your iOS device finishes. The whole transfer can take a while, depending on how much content you’re moving.
Here’s what gets transferred: contacts, message history, camera photos and videos, photo albums, files and folders, accessibility settings, display settings, web bookmarks, mail accounts, and calendars. If they’re available on both Google Play and the App Store, some of your free apps will also transfer. After the transfer completes, you can download any free apps that were matched from the App Store.
Set up your iOS device
After the loading bar finishes on your iOS device, tap Done on your Android device. Then tap Continue on your iOS device and follow the onscreen steps to finish setup for your iOS device.
Finish up
Make sure that all of your content transferred. Music, books, and PDFs need to be moved over manually.
Need to get the apps that were on your Android device? Go to the App Store on your iOS device to download them.
If you need help with the transfer
- Make sure that you leave both devices alone until the transfer finishes. For example, on your Android device, the Move to iOS app should stay onscreen the whole time. If you use another app or get a phone call on your Android before the transfer finishes, your content won’t transfer.
- On your Android device, turn off apps or settings that might affect your Wi-Fi connection, like the Sprint Connections Optimizer or the Smart Network Switch. Then find Wi-Fi in Settings, touch and hold each known network, and forget the network. Then try the transfer again.
- Restart both of your devices and try again.
- On your Android device, turn off your cellular data connection. Then try the transfer again.
If you need help after the transfer
- Get help if Messages doesn’t work as expected after you transfer your content.
- If you don’t see apps from your Android device on your new iOS device, find and download them in the App Store on your new device.
- You might find that only some content transferred and your iOS device ran out of space, or your iOS device might appear full even though the transfer didn’t finish. If so, erase your iOS device and start the transfer again. Make sure that your Android content doesn’t exceed the available space on your iOS device.

Description
Onion Browser is the original free and open-source Tor-powered web browser for iOS. Onion Browser helps you access the internet with more safety and privacy, and no extra cost to you.
“The best Tor-related offering on iOS right now is Onion Browser” — The Daily Dot, October 14, 2015.
Featured in: The New York Times, The Guardian, Salon, TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Boing Boing, Lifehacker, Macworld, The Daily Dot, & others.
FEATURES:
• Browse the internet over Tor:
— Protect your privacy from website tracking
— Secure your traffic from insecure wireless networks and ISPs
— Support for HTTPS Everywhere, an automatic switch to HTTPS enabled websites
— Access .onion sites that are only accessible over Tor.
• Fight online tracking: block scripts and automatically clear cookies and tabs, based on your preferences.
• And more privacy-enhancing features!
DISCLAIMERS:
— Web browsing is much slower than through a normal web browser or a VPN because your traffic is encrypted and relayed through the Tor network.
— Multimedia often bypass Tor and compromise your privacy; video files and video streams are blocked by default and are not supported by Onion Browser.
— Onion Browser might not work on networks with advanced network restrictions. If the app does not connect, try using bridges (or a different type of bridge), force-quit, and then restart the app.
— Use of Onion Browser is at your own risk; remember that sensitive data does not always belong on a mobile device.
** Onion Browser is free and open-source software. You can read more about Onion Browser and how to support development of Tor on iOS by visiting onionbrowser.com **
What’s New
— Finally added Greek to app translation. Not complete, yet, but mostly.
— Actively migrate v2 onion default bookmarks to v3.
— Added feedback, when bridge settings were changed during startup.

has some issues
duckduckgo only works with javascript on and every search has to be done via the address bar otherwise there’s a «forbidden» message. previously duckduckgo worked without javascript. many sites look like web 1.0 sites without styles when loading without javascript. def a different experience than on the desktop tor version. it used to work much better with an ugly UI. I would take the ugly UI over this new fancy UI, since it worked better.
3June2020 *UPDATE*
On the last update, the onion site for duckduckgo stopped loading days after the update. I found on the settings a duckduckgo lite. After using that, it’s much better plus no javascript works on this setting. Sometimes it does hang or doesn’t load, but it is a huge improvement
Best iOS alternative
Onion Browser has been the best Tor Browser alternative for iOS. From what I have seen, it behaves the same way that the PC Tor Browser does, offering many of the same features, security and anonymity. Of the many Tor browsers for iOS I have tried, Onion Browser tales the cake. Knowing that The Tor Project endorses Onion Browser is a huge step forward for Tor use on iOS and mobile platforms I general. Until The Tor Project is able to develop and release the real Tor Browser for iOS and mobile, Onion Browser certainly does the trick. These days, in an extremely mobile world, Tor on mobile is much more important than Tor on a computer, and I believe that most people believe the same. Literally the only issue I have with this browser, is the fact that if the app spends longer than a few seconds in the background, it will lose its connection to the Tor Network, forcing us to force quit the app and re-launch it. I understand the limitations and the technical stuff with iOS, and that is the reason for this, but if there were a workaround that could be implemented, that would be fantastic. Because of the app losing its Tor connection, and requiring a force quit to reconnect, it causes me to lose anything and everything I am doing online, which is a real set back. Other than that, it is the best Tor Browser I have used.
JAVA SCRIPT does not fully turn off
You can NOT fully disable Java Script on this browser. If you value your security when using the darknet and/or your work requires full anonymity, do not do your work through this app. Use the official Tor browser on desktop.
I’ve reached out to the official Tor Project about this and they have advised people to stop using this app until the issue is patched because it places people’s anonymity and online security at risk.
It’s been a month that, when visiting security conscious onion websites, I get an alert from the website warning me that Java Script is still on. I’ve disabled java script within the browser manually as well as set the browser to its most secure state (which is supposed to disable java script) but multiple onion websites still detect that it’s not off and warn me. Some websites won’t even allow entrance if your java script it not fully disabled so I can’t even visit websites that are crucial to my college research.
Without this browser being able to disable java script entirely, it totally defeats the purpose and is useless to anyone who values their safety and security on the darknet.
I’ve left a review of this issue in the past but it’s been deleted for some reason. This java script not disabling has been going on for at least a month and there’s been no update to fix it or a comment to at least acknowledge it.

Too many steps to use phone as second authentication factor
Pros: can use iPhone’s security chip as authentication hardware key
Cons: I have to open my gmail app, tap the yes button and then type in my iPhone lock key.
Why can’t they simply tap into iPhone’s Face ID to skip all these steps? I might as well type in my google password to login. Yes, it’s more secure. But it does not save me the trouble of having to type in password (in this case my iPhone lock key).
Blocked Security Feature
I’ve enabled this 2-step verification from Google after purchased Google one subscription to ensure it will be more secured. But, the smart lock has stopped working today to verify my login request from other device so I had to log off from this smart lock app since I cannot login to “Google Account” page to disable this feature.
Once I log off from this Smart Lock, then it doesn’t allow me to login again stating that you have enabled “Advanced Protection” turned on so you can’t sign in right now. Well, this is that stupid app suppose to protect my access if log off from this application how else am I suppose to login and authenticate.
It’s a classic dead lock error which google doesn’t fix it and they sent an email about someone from google support will contact in 3-5 business days.
This is atrocious! Why the heck we should purchase a “Google One” and lock our own accounts just because this app doesn’t work in iOS.
Great update — my iPhone is a security key
This is a great update. I like the new design and how the functionality of the app is clearer now.
The best thing about this is that now I can use my iPhone as a security key. This is a huge step forward to make it easier for people to protect their accounts. I’ll still keep my hardware keys as a backup.
App Privacy
The developer, Google LLC , indicated that the app’s privacy practices may include handling of data as described below. For more information, see the developer’s privacy policy.
