Warm Spicy Apple & Carrot Drink
There is a tiny shop just a few minutes from our apartment that we – just for fun – always have fantasized about owning. It has the perfect location. A sunny corner right in a central part of the town. We often said that if it would be for sale we would buy it and start a small smoothie & soup bar. Early this summer, that shop went up for sale! It would be so fun to tell you that we bought it and are opening up Green Kitchen Smoothies, Juices & Soups … but we didn’t buy it.
You know how it is with dreams, they are so great in your head, but not as great when you start doing the math. The place was really expensive + a million other different reasons. Anyway, it was a fun dream to have. The place is sold now and a cheese shop has just opened up. Meanwhile we have a dozen new ideas and dreams. Most of them will probably end up like our smoothie & soup cafe, but one day at least one will become real. You just wait.
Since the juice season is pretty short here in Sweden we had this idea to serve warm juice drinks during the winter in our cafe. This sweet and spice-infused warm apple juice mixed with freshly squeezed carrot juice would definitely have been on our menu.
Warm Spicy Apple & Carrot Drink
2 large glasses
We don’t boil the carrot juice since we prefer this drink with a fresh twist. It also looks prettier that way. You can of course heat both juices together if you prefer it steaming hot and slightly sweeter. .
2 cups apple juice, around 6 apples
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anises
2 allspice seeds
1/2 tsp cardamom seeds
1 sprig fresh rosemary
2 carrots
1 inch (2,5 cm) fresh ginger or more to taste
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
Juice the apples in a juice machine. Place the juice in saucepan together with all the spices, cover with a lid. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat and let steep, covered for 5-10 minutes, then strain in a fine sieve. Juice the carrots and ginger in the juice machine. Pour the warm apple juice in the glasses, add the freshly juiced carrot juice and stir with a spoon to combine. Sprinkle some ground cinnamon and nutmeg on top before serving.
Ps. If you are up for it you can also turn it into a winter punch, by simply adding 1 part rhum to 3 parts juice.

Spring has finally arrived on East Coast. Whooo…! Time for some detox, yoga, and vitamin D from the sun… When it comes to detox, I love my weekly detox bath with Epsom salt, baking soda, coconut oil and essential oils. But now he’s fully onboard with me in juicing all combinations of delicious fruits and veggies 🙂 Super progress… I’m very proud of him. As if that weren’t miracle enough, wait to see how our 22 month old son is also addicted to juicing. The moment he hears the juicer turn on he drops whatever he’s doing and runs to the kitchen screaming in joy (I kid you not). So, I have to put the tool-step (aka, step stool) next to the counter and have him make his own juice. Here is the video:
I make all combinations of juices, but the staples that I always have at home are carrots, apples, oranges, spinach and beets. Obviously, you can use any combination of veggies you want.
I always put carrots and apples in and then add other veggies and fruit depending on supplies and moods :). Carrots and apples are full of nutrients. I only buy organic versions. Every time I try a non-organic apple I seem to have an allergic reaction. My face, around my lips, gets red and my whole mouth itches me. I know that I’m very sensitive to pesticides. My body simply rejects these terrible substances. I wash my organic apples and carrots and chop them in pieces without peeling as the most nutrients are in the skin. While contingent on the juicer, as well as the veggies and fruits, typically about 4 carrots and 1 apple yield 1 cup of fresh juice. Carrot cucumber and apple juice
Carrot juice on its own is amazing, but this one with apple, cucumber and ginger, well, it fascinates me. In this post I’ll tell you how to prepare this carrot juice, which is a fresh, healthy juice full of flavor and vitamins, among other nutrients for our body.
Why you will love this carrot juice with apples
This carrot juice recipe is super easy to make, and you can make it in a blender or in a juicer (affiliate link) . The amazing thing about this recipe is that all the ingredients are nutritious amazingness and full of good stuff for us.
Apart from being wonderful, this juice is fresh, delicious, and super easy to make, with millions of healthy properties. Starting with the properties of carrots, which not only promote eye health but are linked to lower cholesterol levels and increased gut health.
Carrot juice ingredients
- Carrots, look for carrots that are fresh and bright in color.
- Cucumber, Any type of cucumber works well, seedless or with seeds, for juicing. If you buy organic, it is not necessary to peel them.
- Ginger, add as much as you like, remember though that it is very strong and contains multitudes of nutrients and superpowers. They do not require peeling if you wash them well enough.
- Apples, use red, green, yellow or whatever you have at home. When using apples to make juice, you can always use apples that are a little old and have bruises.
- Lime, if you use organic lemons, you can throw them in whole, including the peel.
HOW TO MAKE THE CARROT, CUCUMBER, GINGER AND APPLE JUICE?
- It is important to wash everything before juicing. Personally, I don’t peel organic fruits and vegetables, only conventional ones.
- After washing, I cut the fruits and vegetables into big pieces.
- Juicer (affiliate link) . The next step is to pass everything through the juicer (affiliate link) . If you want to separate the carrot pulp, pass the carrots through the juicer (affiliate link) first, and then the rest of the ingredients.
- Blender. If you make the juice in the blender, put all the ingredients in the blender glass with a little water, just enough to run the motor well. When everything is perfectly blended, pass the juice through a fine strainer, or a bag used to make almond milk.
- Use this recipe as a guide, use what you have at home, and if you don’t have cucumbers or apples, don’t fret.
HOW TO drink CARROT JUICE?
- Upon waking up. It is incredible to fill your body up with vitamins and minerals just after rising from bed.
- Midmorning. I like to drink it in the middle of the morning, super cold as if it were a cocktail or a non-alcoholic drink. I prepare it in a glass, with lots of ice, and lemon. Of course, apart from it being delicious, it is incredible to have something that you know is great for your body.
Can leftover carrot juice be saved?
Any juice will always be better freshly made, but if you need to store it, put it in the refrigerator in a tightly covered jar. It normally lasts three to four days.

- You can use it to make bread or carrot cake
- Cookies are also great after juicing
- You can also use it to make soup, like this red lentil detox soup.
- You can also make seed cookies or seed and nut bread.
