If all else fails you can try VueScan. There’s a demo version you can download to try before purchase. It’s an excellent app. I use it instead of the apps that came with my scanners.

Is this an issue that Apple will correct; HP was not able to do so? HP Support suggested it might be fixed in maybe 2 weeks?

Oct 31, 2020 6:31 PM

Exact same issue, exact same error number. Using MacBook Pro 2019, Catalina 10.15.7, with HP OfficeJet Pro 8620. Issue just arose over the last week, with same warning also.

My Laser jet pro MFP M127fw, does the exact same. Also had the same warning on my MacBook air. This after I just updated my HP easy scan app through the App store. I deleted the «file» in question, and cleared the trash bin, as the warning messages advised. Only to now be stuck with this problem. My printer also works, scanner suddenly does not.

Can someone please assist?

Today found a Software Update for Catalina 10.15.7 via Command R. After downloading tried the HP Easy Scan once again and received the very same warning: (com.apple.imagecapture error 4294957375.) Last week HP support could not help, so where do I go next? Thanks in advance for your help.

Nov 9, 2019 5:17 AM

iMac running Catalina. This fixed it for me. I first deleted the printer and the Canon utility. Then I downloaded the latest Catalina update and the latest Canon driver (make sure to download scan utility as well). Re-added printer and was able to scan.

For my Cannon MF4770n, I went to Cannon’s product support page (search it on Google) and downloaded the Optional (not the Recommended!) Driver, then install the new driver to my iMac and now it’s working!! I didn’t try it with the Recommended; it might work since it’s a newly published (7/1/2020) driver, but I didn’t want to take a chance since the last person said it didn’t work so I downloaded the Optional instead. Apple’s phone support was not helpful and it took forever to get someone on the phone to help. Hope this is helpful!

Hi guys, I do have the same problem with an HP MFW277. The interesting thing is, that this occurs only, when I connect via WiFi to the printer. (whether it is a MacBook (2016) or a MacBook Pro (2015). The printer is connected via LAN. As long i use the scanner from my wired iMAC it works.

I thought this could be something within the router but seems to be not.

I analysed the Network settings but was not able to find any difference between iMac and MacBook.

Perhaps this rings a bell to anybody of you.

Had to remove my scanner from the list and set it up again, but it seems to be working now.

Big Sur version up to date, however, Apple cannot check HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkgfor malicious software and will not open the file.

I am able to print to the HP8600 Pro through Word, Excel, Mail, etc. I am now trying to scan documents as I did before.

When launching HP Smart I get a few seconds of a blue spinning circle and then white window.

Any thoughts or alternatives to scan if HP products will not work?

@ConnieBiker, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Have you tried any other application to scan and check if that works?

Check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network System preference > Advanced > Configure IPV6 > Automatic

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the MAC

Try scanning using the Image capture app

If the error persists, use the HP Easy Scan app or Hp Smart app to scan as shown in this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “ Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “ Kudos, Thumbs Up » on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Have a great day!

Thank you SO very much for your response!! The scanner used to work so I’m wondering what changed or perhaps I’m doing something differently. I’m prepping for a trip so won’t be able to get through the steps until next week.

Trying for a quick home run (without updating):

HP Easy scan yields this even though it’s on.

HP Smart scans a blank screen even though there’s something on the glass (281 isn’t making any noise so this leads me to think there’s a network issue)

On the printer I’m looking for this:

Setup > Network System preference > Advanced > Configure IPV6 > Automatic

Best I can do this this:

Setup > Network Setup >

I don’t see an Advanced or anything IPV6 related so I’m thinking the firmware is out of date.

I’m using the HP Smart app to install updates and navigate: Printer Settings > Advance Settings > HP Web Services tab

I don’t see the requested «Printer Updates» or «Product Updates»

I’ll work on this more later.

Maybe given what I’m seeing you can hone in on a solution?

Thanks again for walking me through troubleshooting options!

Are you able to print from your MAC?

Did you also check for any pending software updates on your MAC?

As you are not able to scan from any of the scanning application, let us check the hardware functionality first.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Now, check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note : There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.
