Best Verizon phones Android Central 2021
Big Red may charge an arm and a leg for its service, but the best Android phones on its network don’t all have to be unattainably expensive. So whether you’re after the top-of-the-line Galaxy S21 Ultra or you’d rather save some money and pick up something like the Galaxy A42 5G, there are plenty of great options for one of the nation’s top-rated carriers. Here are our top picks when it comes to the best Verizon phones on the market right now.
Best overall : Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G — Smartphone
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung’s ultimate mobile experience, cramming powerful specs and a 6.8-inch 120Hz display into a modern design. It also has an enormously capable camera system with a 108MP primary sensor and up to 100X zoom, plus 8K video capture. You get a massive 5000mAh battery and 5G support, and the S21 Ultra even supports the S Pen stylus.
Compact folding design : Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 — Smartphone
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 from Samsung is a cool phone with a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display that can fold in half to fit in your pocket comfortably. Even with its compact folded size, it’s still powerful with a Snapdragon 888, 8GB of RAM, and dual outside cameras. This phone is even IPX8 rated for water resistance, meaning you don’t need to worry if you get caught in the rain. Top specs and beautiful design make the Z Flip 3 a fantastic foldable flagship.
Best value flagship : Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G UW — Smartphone
The S20 FE is one of the best values in the high-end space, offering a flagship-tier Snapdragon 865 processor and a large, 120Hz flat display. You get Samsung’s One UI 3.1 software overlay on top of Android 11, and the S20 FE is available in a wide range of eye-catching colors. It’s already a great value at its usual price, but thanks to current Verizon promotions, the S20 FE is an unbeatable deal.
Best value with a stylus : Moto G Stylus — Smartphone
The Moto G Stylus is a solid budget phone that makes control easier for those who want an alternative input option. The included stylus isn’t smart and doesn’t offer any significant benefits beyond a finer point, but it is attached to a solid budget phone. The 6.4-inch display is driven by a Snapdragon 665 CPU and powered by a large 4,000mAh battery.
A budget 5G phone : Samsung Galaxy A42 5G — Smartphone
Faster wireless with 5G has made it to cheap phones, and with the network’s footprint rapidly increasing, it really is time to make sure your phone supports the new tech. The Galaxy A42 5G comes with a Snapdragon 750G with 4GB of RAM and a huge 5,000mAh battery. Samsung has included one of its beautiful AMOLED displays and a 48MP main camera for a solid budget camera experience.
A cheaper 5G flagship : Samsung Galaxy S21 5G — Smartphone
The Samsung Galaxy S21 5G is a very fast phone with a Snapdragon 888 and full support for Verizon’s 5G network. The gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display measures 6.8 inches and is a great companion to one of the best cameras you can get at this price. A 4,000mAh battery gives you all-day battery life, and since this is one of Samsung’s leading flagship phones, you can be sure you’ll get prompt security updates.

If you’re looking for the best combination of fast performance, superb cameras, and all-day battery life, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the phone to beat. It packs all of the best specs you can ask for and includes everything from 5G support to reverse wireless charging, water resistance, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 100X telephoto camera. Its 6.8-inch display is surprisingly easy to manage thanks to ultra-tight bezels, and the 108MP main sensor takes stunningly good photos.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 takes the greatest hits of the S21 and packs them into a stunning folding form factor. This phone has one of the fastest CPUs you can put in a phone, the Snapdragon 888, and 5G support on Verizon’s current and upcoming sub-6 5G as well as mmWave networks. If your family has signed up for one of the best cell phone plans on Verizon and you want something unique, the Z Flip 3 is the right choice.

1. Samsung Galaxy S21 series
Samsung kickstarts every year with its most popular smartphone line-up, and 2021 was no exception. Samsung’s flagship trifecta was announced at their Unpacked event, revealing a trio of what are all but guaranteed to be among the most popular handsets for a while. These are the Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra
The base Samsung Galaxy S21 is the most affordable of the three, followed by the S21 Plus, and the priciest one is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Aside from the display and battery sizes, though, differences between the former two are kept to a minimum, which means the experience should be very similar across the board.
The S21 Ultra is the one that stands out the most, thanks to its more impressive camera set-up and S Pen support. However, all come with an impressive Snapdragon 888 and all the high-end specs you’ve come to expect from a modern flagship handset.

2. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series
The Samsung Galaxy S series may be more popular, but more demanding Samsung fans will prefer the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 smartphones. These come with more powerful specs and an S Pen stylus that will turn your device into a productivity machine.
We have two versions of the Note 20: the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The most notable differences between the two phones are display, construction, and cameras. The Ultra model has a larger display with a higher resolution and refresh rate, better rear cameras, and a larger battery. It also comes with more RAM and a microSD card slot.
It feels more premium in hand, thanks to its glass and metal construction. The rear panel of the regular Note 20, on the other hand, is made of what Samsung calls glasstic — a plastic material with a glass-like paint job. These are still among the best Verizon prepaid phones, so go get them!

No matter how much we love Android, it’s tough to deny that the iPhone 12 and its siblings are some of the best phones you can get right now. From the powerful A14 Bionic chipsets to the clever camera array, there’s a lot to like coming out of Cupertino. Sure, you’ll pay the Apple tax, but these are some of the best Verizon prepaid phones you can find.
Apple’s flagship line has swelled to four devices for the first time — adding the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 Mini to the mix. It matches the rest in terms of CPU and a pair of 12MP shooters, but the battery is a bit smaller to match the pocket-sized footprint. You’ll find a glossy glass finish on both the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, though the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro opt for a frosted glass finish, and they jump to 6GB of RAM.
Overall, the blend of hardware and software makes Apple’s iPhone 12 line the best yet.

4. Google Pixel 5
The Pixel line-up has been known for sporting the best specs, including the latest processor and all the features you need. Google took a different approach with the Pixel 5 by cutting corners and making the phone more affordable.
The most notable difference is that this phone doesn’t come with the latest and greatest Snapdragon chipset available. Instead, the search giant has opted to go with the Snapdragon 765G, which still performs very well. In our tests, we found that this chipset is comparable to the Snapdragon 845.
Other specs are as good as you would expect. You get 8GB of RAM, a large OLED display, and a nice 4,080mAh battery. You also get a fantastic camera that can capture great images in all sorts of lighting conditions. Then there’s also the software experience, which is one of the reasons people love Pixel phones. It’s definitely one of the best Verizon prepaid phones and also has an amazing camera.
Unfortunately, the Pixel 5 is temporarily out of stock at Verizon, but we will update this list with a purchase option as soon as it comes back in stock.
