Разработчик приложения с поминутными прогнозами погоды Dark Sky стал частью Apple. Об этом компания сообщила в своём блоге.

На сайте Dark Sky уже переименована в Dark Sky by Apple. Страница компании удалена из Google Play, в App Store в качестве разработчика указана Apple.

«Нашей целью всегда было предоставление точной информации о погоде. Нет лучшего места для достижения этих целей, чем в Apple», — рассказали в Dark Sky.

С момента запуска кампании на Kickstarter в 2011 году Dark Sky удивляла пользователей точными до минуты прогнозами погоды, пишет CNN. Приложение использовало искусственный интеллект для анализа радиолокационных данных Национального управления по исследованию океана и атмосферы США.

К 2015 году Dark Sky, по её сведениям, давала 8 млн прогнозов в день. По данным на 31 марта, у Android-приложения было более 1 млн загрузок. Условия сделки не разглашаются, отмечает CNN.

После сделки с Аpple сервисы Dark Sky станут недоступны, за исключением Dark Sky для iOS — им можно будет пользоваться платно. Android-версия и приложение Wear OS будут работать до 1 июля 2020 года. Тем, у кого подписка оформлена на более долгий срок, вернут остаток денег. API компании будет доступно до конца 2021 года, рассказали в Dark Sky. Также до 1 июля будет работать сайт с прогнозами.

Приложение помогает смотреть прогноз погоды и скорость ветра для полёта квадрокоптера. Но (!).
— дизайн нинтерфейса на уровне 2000 года 😔😭😔😭
— в строке ввода адреса нет возможности посмотреть адрес полностью — половина адреса скрывается за тремя точками. А когда нажимаешь на строку адреса — адрес пропадает 😕
— также в интерфейсе половина текста (русский язык), которая не помещается на экран сокращается тремя точками. 😔
— плохо работает горизонтальный режим
— проблема выбора радиуса в настройках: на пример ползунком можно выбрать радиус 0,2. А если через клавиатуру ставить радиус 0,2 — программа ругается 😔
— стоимость приложения 1650₽ (российских рублей) в год — вы серьезно? В платном приложении доступен только прогноз на 7 дней вперёд и добавление избранных мест. 😭😔 Я как раз хотел приобрести это приложение для просмотра прогноза на 7 дней вперёд, даже аккаунт создал на вашем сайте UAVForecast.com. НО(!). иметь в приложении за 1650 российских рублей в год только прогноз на 7 дней — это очень дорого. Давайте поможем друг другу и найдём компромисс в стоимости приложения?

I won’t copy the app description, will just tell you that all it promise to do, it do and in an excellent manner.
Even, this app shows more info and is much more accurate than lot’s of special weather apps.
