Just place *0# before any message to receive a delivery report.
Eg. *0# Hello, how are you?
— Instead of Hello, how are you?

Guys are you making fun of us?
Of course the SMS delivery notification is a network feature, the same way as 3G, Edge, 4G, MMS etc are carrier services.
However it is needed the relative software from the device to support that.
Carriers support SMS notification and I can use this feature by having a Nokia €1 device from 1994.
But an iPhone, from 2014, worth €600+ do not support that!
Mattyp123, what is your carrier? Because *0# is not for all carriers. Each carrier has its own prefix / end-fix.
So let’s get serious and have some series answers:
Is the SMS delivery notification going to be implemented or not? (SMS, not iMessage. To be clear what the question is)

What kind of delivery report are you trying to get?
The messages app will report Delivered or Read only for messages sent to other iOS devices. Messages sent to non Apple devices will not get such a report.

The question is about SMS delivery reports, & as provided:

Are you kidding?
Using a Nokia phone on the same network with the same SIM you have this function.
Why everyone is saying that is a network feature. is not.

Prove us wrong then by calling your carrier and asking them. Come back in and post what they say.

yes, iphone is tottaly useless phone becouse dont have delivery reports in sms and mms, in all Europe, Asia and Australia we have delivery reports at least 20 years. maybe only in USA dont. It is a GSM standard.
next think why iphone dont have fm radio? why dont have call recording? this is not bussines phone.
Finally why NSA listens our conversations by iphone and watches our naked pictures in apple cloud ?

Totally useless? Seriously? And you need an FM radio on a business phone? Why ever did you buy an iPhone? Surely such a savvy business person as yourself would have researched the purchase ahead of time.
It’s also a safe bet that no one is interested in hacking your nude photos.

If you truly feel the iPhone is worthless, purchase another device that provides the functionality you seek. (I understand some Android devices do but it depends on the carrier; for example Verizon only provides confirmation on some phones and only when sending an SMS to other Verizon customers.)
iPhones are actually worth quite a bit on the used market.

People you are so lame worshipers!
We are talking about a functionality that is supported by most carriers (at least in Europe), devices from 90s support that and you answer is:
«If iPhone is not good enough for you, buy another device»
You are really worshiping Apple and you are blind to understand the meaning of the post!
LOL

As we are just your fellow users, what else would you have us do? Join you in whining and ranting? We can’t change anything for you.

I thought I was posting something in the Official Apple support center.
You cannot (apparently) do anything for that but probably as in any other support community, PMs from the company (aka Apple) will check the requests and probably WILL BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING.
This is how modern Support centers work. This is how companies are having input from their customers.
So if you cannot do anything and you don’t want to «whine» then just don’t spam / troll with answers like «hey buy some other phone».
In other words, if you don’t have a solution to our request for a feature that is present in most of modern devices, just don’t spam / troll by irrelevant and childish responses.
Is that clear enough for you to understand it? Or shall I paint it down?

SMS is a carrier feature, not controlled by the device itself. If the carrier does not support delivery reports for their SMS system, then that feature will be unavailable, regardless of what device you use.
Is that clear enough for you to understand, or shall I paint it down for you?

I thought I was posting something in the Official Apple support center.
This is a user-to-user support forum, which you would know if you had read the Terms of Use when you signed up. Apple doesn’t have much direct posting presence here. If you want to use feedback, use the Feedback link.
If you want to contact Apple directly, use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page. Is that clear enough or do you need more assistance?

SMS delivery report on iOS
I have an iPhone SE with iOS 11.3.1 .
If I send a normal SMS (that is one that does not require internet, the old SMS we had) using iMessage then no delivery report comes. This is not a network issue because Android or non smart phones do get delivery reports.
As far as I have read, there is no way to turn on this feature on iMessage for normal SMS. Is there any other app that I can use to send normal SMS from iPhone that can show delivery reports?
Do note that I am not asking for apps that require data connection. I am just looking for any alternate program for sending network based SMS.
A related question has been asked about four years ago here at How can i get delivery confirmation for sent sms? . However, there no way out could be found.
1 Answer 1
Firstly, you can’t send a normal SMS using iMessage since they are completely different messaging services even if both can be sent from the iPhone Message App. iMesssage only relies on iCloud account and internet access (Wifi is sufficient) while SMS requires a SIM card that is functional and access to your carrier network (and not necessary GPRS, 3G, 4G. ).
Secondly, it is not a network issue or a bug to not receive delivery report for SMS on iPhone as Apple never provided such service (as far as i know). Moreover there is no alternative app to deal with SMS and delivery report on iOS (while it is possible on Android OS). As far as I know alternative SMS apps are not allowed by Apple (only instant messaging apps are allowed, that are apps using a cellular connection i.e. 3G, 4G and so on).
SUMMARY
There is no option to enable SMS delivery report on iPhone and there is no app that can achieve this goal because it is not allowed by Apple.
Note: Back in the days when jailbreak was quite common a solution used to exist but jailbreak is not recommended and may be hard to achieve on recent OS.
