Speed controls

The app is not bad but the interface is interface is is very cluttered and there is no way to speed up the video. Of the two, I’d forgive the interface issues if I could speed through the video at 1.5 or 2x’s, slowing down for the sections that are new and unfamiliar.

Right now I’m watching the videos in WebPlayer off the developer site and marking them as viewed in the WWDC app, in the hope that someday the dawn will break, the birds will sing, and most significantly of all, the app will allow me to speed up video.

Disappointing and has unacceptable bugs

Would give 0 stars if possible. There is no way on iPad to control playback speed. There are so many videos to watch developers need to be able to easily increase playback speed if desired. Tried downloading video hoping this would allow access to speed control. Still no controls for speed and worse yet there is a bug where you are not able to delete the downloaded video so it will take up large amount of space on device forever. These are basic things and it is unbelievable Apple developers created this app and that these basic things don’t work. Very disappointed. Please at least provide a way to delete a downloaded video. Running iOS 12.3.1 on iPad Pro. Desktop version seems to have speed control but didn’t really want to watch the videos on Mac. Prefer to watch on iPad.

The sign up process is a nightmare

Just to be clear, this review only covers a small portion of the app, (the only portion I have gotten to so far.) I tried initially signing up for the developer program through the app, but the app wouldn’t accept my photo id and it didn’t give me a reason why. I gave up on the app after 10 attempts and in summary, since then, I have talked to a few support agents which who told me that I probably had to just try it again and I have been hitting errors such as “You cannot currently ___, please try again later”. I’m sure if things go right this app is a great experience, but when things go wrong there is no direction on how to fix it. I eventually figured out that my payment method was expired and that was the issue, but that was after spending hours combing forums to try to solve the problem myself.

Watch out for scammers

I got a call from Apple, saying that someone was trying to buy stuff from my bank account. Freaking out, they told me to download this app. I noticed it had a 2 star review. I started to wonder, “wait, y is APPLE calling about suspicious activity. Isn’t my bank supposed to call about suspicious activity? Also, I’ve never had to download an app before, when Apple helped me”. I decided to read the reviews. (Just in case it was legit, I told the woman that it was taking a long time to download, so I could buy time to investigate). I seen a bunch of people saying that this was an app scammers used. I then said to the woman, “Sorry ma’am, but I seen that the reviews were talking about scammers using this app. How do I know ur really apple?” She immediately hung up. I called apple, & my bank, to make sure all my stuff was secure. My bank said everything was ok, & big surprise, Apple said that they had no records saying they called me. About a year ago Apple called me & I asked if they were legit. The person talking to me was super nice, & gave me lots of proof. If u get a call, don’t hesitate to ask, “how do I know this isn’t a scam”. & if things aren’t adding up, hang up, & call the company (to see if they really called u).

Don’t Be Confused

I know it most likely won’t do much, but as a technician that has used TeamViewer as a service for years, I’m leaving this review in hopes that some people will realize this app is legit. Yes, there are malicious individuals that will abuse the features of this app to scam, but this app is designed for people to get assistant with various functions of their device. It is not the banks fault that you handed a random person the key to your home, so please don’t hate the company or the developers all because a malicious third party that is completely unrelated to them tried to scam you. Their product is solid, and does what it says. Like I’ve said, I’ve used TeamViewer for years and never have had an issue. Just don’t give personal information to absolute strangers that you haven’t verified and you’ll be fine. Also, when you search “Apple Support Number” and tap on a number that belongs to apple, in the small box that pops up asking if you want to call them, it will even say “Apple Verified” on iPhones running iOS 13 or later, so I don’t know why people keep saying “I called the first number I saw and got scammed”. Anyways, stay safe, and ALWAYS: 1. Verify 2. Verify 3. And most importantly, Verify.

PayPal Scam

This app was used in a PayPal scam. When I tried to call about an erroneous charge in December from The Best Franchise Store the customer service people had me log into this app to take over my phone and have full view as I logged into my PayPal account. When I started asking questions they got hostile. At this point I knew it was a scam but I kept going to see how they were going to “help” me. They wanted me to open up an app to pay in Bitcoin? I laughed and said I didn’t think so and they hung up on me.
I was scammed out of $229. dollars from The Best Franchise Store that posed as Dyson. Please do not listen to ANY Customer Service agent that asks you to log into this app. It is a Scam.
DEVELOPERS — You clearly see a trend here! 95% of these reviews are telling you that they got scammed using Your App including me. CAN YOU ADDRESS THIS AND OFFER ANY KIND OF SECURITY OR HELP TO INNOCENT CUSTOMERS? All you do is praise the reviews of people saying your app works great. It’s probably coming from the Indian Scammers that you support! This is ridiculous! Please reply and offer any solution and security. Rise up and be accountable.

Always come back 2 LAYOUT

I downloaded Layout very soon after installing INSTAGRAM. I’ve always been satisfied, too! The only addition I’d like is the ability to choose a border clr: Black,White, & Grey would be great! I’ve added approx 3 other collage makers over the last few yrs., & while I might use them a time or two, I always delete them in favor of Layout. I might find a different look, but the APPS lack simplicity, & real choices. They show tons of avail. layouts or backgrounds, but it’s quickly made obvious that u must PURCHASE a yearly sub. to use the app. They should advertise “ForeverFree Trial” bc that’s all you get to do. Nope! Layout is the only collage maker I can’t live without. It’s EZ, it’s full of options, and I’ve never had issues w/glitches! Thanks Layout!

Faulty app?

I loved this app, and I’ve had it forever. I had it on my iphone xs and now my iphone 12 mini BUT for as long as ive had it, my instagram kept crashing, overheating my phone, and draining my battery. As well as i kept getting hacked or having random logins from other countries (mainly russia).

I thought the problem would resolve once i bought a new phone, but it followed me. I couldn’t be on the instagram app for longer than 30 seconds before it crashed. Then today, i was using this layout app to edit something and the layout app CRASHED. it did it several times before it occurred to me that this is the problem.

So I deleted this app, deleted my instagram app, restarted my phone and then re-downloaded instagram (but not this layout app) and now the problem is 100% gone. No more overheating, no more battery drains, no more crashing instagram. Im literally shocked that it took me years to figure this out. Disappointed because the app did what i needed it to, but in the process was disrupting my instagram app.

Needs a fix to let you start over

Let me just say that I have used this all the time, and would give it 5 stars, until an update that broke something.

So one of the more recent updates, not sure which one, made it so that you can’t get back to the starting screen. You have to close the app.

It added extra steps into selecting photos and making your layout. And I’m not really sure why? From a user experience perspective, it makes zero sense— Because not only does it add the extra steps, but there’s no way to clear the selection and start over. You can’t access your photo roll, if you click on recents it only has the things you recently selected. Which I find to be completely unuseful.

It’s the GUI equivalent of a keyboard trap. I was hoping that maybe the logo or something else would let me clear the selection and access my photo roll once more. But there doesn’t appear to be any way to do this. I am super bummed that I have to close the app every time just to get a pop-up to ask if I want to clear my selection and use different photos.

If something was done to address this, I would totally give this 6 stars! I use this app all the time and I’m really disappointed that the functionality has been crippled in this way.

(The reason I’m not sure which update caused this change is because I hadn’t installed any of the updates for a while. But had to recently when I upgraded my phone.)
