Upgrade from iDMSS with two bugs

Opening a motion detection push notification finally seeks to the right spot! This was a bug in iDMSS for me. Now two minor bugs: it skips to the right point, but after playing a few seconds says “connection failed” or “out of memory”. If I hit the refresh button it plays fine without the error but sometimes throws the “out of memory” error.

The other issue is that I turned motion detection on for one camera but I am receiving it for all other channels on that NVR now.

Motion detector failure

I put this system at my company which operates from 6 AM to 4:30 PM. The entire reason I got the system was for night time so that I could monitor and get notification if anyone was on my property. In order to set up the evening and night time motion detector you have to go camera by camera through multiple steps just to turn it on and go through the same steps to turn it off the next morning. Otherwise my phone will blow up the entire time my plant is up and running during the day with constant notifications. If anyone wants a system with motion detectors I would absolutely recommend buying somebody else’s system. This was a total failure and I regret! There are cheap systems on the market that you can do this with a switch of a button or you can program the system to do it automatically. Do your homework and spend your money with someone else!

You can be better

Please add a feature that allows your cameras to be open and stay open to how you want them. Instead on me going to different screens to load them. Or having to click on the number of cameras to show. I want to see all NINE cameras when I open my app. The first thing it should open to is my cameras. I should have that option. Also, your notifications system needs to be better. Being able to change the name on the notifications that pop up. Instead of it saying channel 5 I should be able to change it to front door. Not on the camera, but the notifications that you get when the motion go off. That should be able to be changed via the app.

Unable to scroll through playback timeline.

This is pretty important to me. When reviewing footage, I may need to skip ahead to the next recorded event however the skip forward button doesn’t do anything, and if you try to slide the timeline forward or back it just restarts the entire video from the beginning again. The only thing that works is fast forward and rewind, which is slow.

I came from using a Geovision camera and their GV-Eye mobile app. I had no idea how nice I had it. The app would open with a preset live camera view and by double clicking a single camera you could with one button pull up all motion capture events in a list with time stamps — this was so convenient to access and scroll through!

The one significant advantage iDMSS has is the ability to export video. That feature alone is really nice, it would be nice if you could disable the audio in the exported video if needed though.

It would be great if I could actually use any of the facial recognition/detection search capabilities through the app as well. that’s why I bought the cameras in the first place.

Horrible update! Favorites lost; data not transferred

I’ve been using the original “Lite” application for quite some time, and despite the unacceptable learning curve (due to poor documentation and deficient Chinese programming), managed to get it to work quite reasonably for many months.

This latest update is an absolute travesty. Not only did the upgrade result in all my favorites being lost, it keeps prompting me to update to the new “Plus” version, which I did. But none of the settings from the “Lite” version were transferred over! So now I have to suffer through setting up all that complicated nonsense again, using an application that is decidedly worse than the previous iteration.

Why can’t an American company create something on par with this Chinese garbage so we can at least understand how it works? An absolute shame that this Chinese app is all we have available for this purpose.

Password problem

After setting the password, it asks when I connect to the internet and sometimes it doesn’t ask when I don’t connect to the internet. When I enter the app with no internet at the first time, it asks the password. But after immediately removing the recent app and immediately open the app, it doesn’t ask and it only shows the Network error and then skip the asking password step. So, I enter the app with no internet and then reconnect to the internet when I reach inside the app. And if I do like this, the app doesn’t ask the password and I can watch live without typing password. I hope you can get what I meant and recommend you to fix that problem.

When it Works.

This app is spotty at best. The developer can’t seem to keep it bug/glitch free to save their lives. As soon as iPhone software updates, the app is useless and it takes them a long time to catch up. I am glad my main receiver box records endlessly on a loop so I can review any questionable activity but when I want to watch my farm and the animals in a live feed, it never seems to work. Even logging out and back in and at worst, reinstalling the app never works. Honestly, it’s worked MAYBE 1/2 the time we have had it installed (3 years now). I also have the newest iPhone models that are always up to date. Currently running an iPhone XS Max on 12.1 software. The cameras are nice! But they really need to catch up with phone software and pushing it to peoples devises. we PAY for the live feeds!

Review of the last guy’s

First, you shouldn’t even be calling their customer service. Call your installing dealer, or find one that knows what they are doing.

Second, your review is absolutely ridiculous, and you really need to read the user manual of your device sometime. You shouldn’t have to call crying to Support because you are unfamiliar with how to use something, in fact, you shouldn’t even be allowed to. There should be a minimum threshold of understanding for ANY aspect of life before you get to throw your hands up and act like a toddler.

Now, onto the HikV- app, sure it’s not quite as pretty as the Nest App, but hey, glad it’s not a Nest Cam. Hilarious those were hacked last week and they directly denied it while accidentally acknowledging it. 😬

Don’t Use this App or Security Company that does

WE DON’T RECOMMEND ISING THIS APP, NOR A SECURITY COMPANY THAT USSES ONLY THIS APP. This app is horrible!! And We don’t recommend a Security Company that uses this app. HIKVISION customer support is closed on the weekends, so o finally got customer service today Monday. I was out of State during the weekend and was advised by neighbors to look at our cameras. We also received a phone call from a police officer asking us to send footage. How bad did our security company look when HIKVISION app wasn’t working. So HIKVISION just told me that they were running an update all weekend, and In fact it will take about two more days to finish. I can’t believe HIKVISION would do that intense of an System update without advising their customers. And how stupid is it to do on the weekend when they have zero customer support available on the weekend. HIKVISION disrespected every customer on this weekend and several days still during g the week that uses their app. AND THEY DIDN’T SEEM TO CARE.
