How to Unlock Straight Talk iPhone 12, 11, XS MAX, XS, XR, X, SE, SE 2, 8, 7, 6S With UB SIM 14

Plain and simple, this is a step-by-step guide on how to unlock Straight Talk iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XS Max, XR, XS, X, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6S, SE and SE 2 2020 using UB SIM 14. And it also includes workarounds for any challenges you may face.

What’s Straight Talk? It’s a US mobile phone service for those on a budget. The service lets you pick your own network from one of the leading carriers of the nation, i.e. AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, H2O, Cricket or any other GSM carrier in the world. However, if you want to leave Straight Talk, you’ll have to unlock your handset before it can be used with some other carrier. Below is how to unlock your Straight Talk iPhone.

Reasons to Unlock your Straight Talk iPhone

Let’s first discuss the reasons why people wish to unlock their iPhones. First, if you terminate the Straight Talk service, you might want to use the phone on a different network. The process requires making your Straight Talk phone SIM-free. That’s because carriers place a lock on the handsets to ensure customers fulfill their contracts and pay bills before they can switch over to another network.

Another reason to go for a Straight Talk unlock is international roaming. Unlocking the device will give you the freedom to use any local network as you engage in an international commute. If you travel every few months, it would be in your favor to get the device unlocked.

Straight Talk Being Unlocked by Default Is a Myth

When you buy the iPhone from Straight Talk’s shop, it will be locked on the carrier’s network. As a result, you might want to bring an unlocked phone to the provider instead of buying from them directly. Why? Because it’s how you can avoid being stuck with a locked device that is only limited to Straight Talk’s services. If you aren’t sure that Straight Talk is the right carrier for you, you shouldn’t do this.

How to Unlock Straight Talk iPhone 11, 12, X, XS, XS MAX, 8, 7, 6S, SE, & SE 2 with UB SIM 14

For those unfamiliar, UB SIM 14 is the latest innovative hardware unlock for iPhones. You can use it to unlock iPhone 12 Pro Max, 12 Pro, 12, 12 Mini, 11 Pro Max, 11 Pro, 11, XS, XS MAX, SE 2, SE, XR, X, 8 Plus, 8, 7 Plus, 7, 6S Plus, 6s, 5S, 5C, etc. It’s also applicable on iOS 14.2, 14.1, 14.0, 13.6.1, 13.7, and several other iOS variants. Using UB 14 allows you to use the device on any GSM carrier and SIM around the globe. As a bonus, we’re offering a unique UB SIM Version that’s 100% legitimate and has good signals. Want more? UB SIM 14 ensures your cellular data works perfectly after the unlock and you’re able to enjoy 3G, 4G, 5G or LTE speeds on your iPhone (of course, the speed depends on the carrier you use).

Before getting started, ensure that your phone is updated to iOS 14.2, 14.1, 14, or 13.7-13.5. Then go to Settings > General > About and analyze the software. If the device is on an older iOS version, update it before anything else.

Now follow these steps:

1 Remove the SIM tray from your device and put in the SIM you want to use along with UB SIM 14. Check the photos below as it’s going to be different based on the phone’s model.

A) Here’s how to insert UB SIM in iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 11 Pro Max, 11 Pro, 11, XS MAX & XR

B) Here’s how to insert UB SIM in iPhone XS, X, 8, 8+, 7, 7+, 6S+, 6S, 6+, 6, SE & SE 2

2 Wait 10-30 seconds and then you’ll see a UB SIM 14 Menu. When presented with this menu, choose “ICCID mode” and enter the ICCID code as follows: 89014104279605345149

We recommend you to visit the UB SIM 14 page and use the latest up to date ICCID code.

3 When the Setup OK notification appears on the screen, choose Accept. Then wait for the activation steps to complete. While that happens, make sure you’re connected to a WiFi network.

4 Once done, the device will be unlocked and activated. Now you can use your new sim at your heart’s will. Browse the web, make calls, go nuts.

And hey, the SIM configuration remains saved in the UB SIM chip, permanently. There’s no need to repeat the process after you perform a factory reset or reboot the device. However, if you run into any issues, you can contact our customer support team who’s always there to help you out. Enjoy your unlocked device on whatever network you wish to use.

Question: Q: Using iPhone 6 (T-Mobile) On Straight Talk

Does anyone know if I could purchase the iPhone 6 (T-Mobile version) to be used for Straight Talk. Is this basically an unlocked phone? I couldn’t really tell by the description and I don’t really want to wait for it to be offered within the Straight Talk plans. I would just get a T-Mobile plan, but their service isn’t the best in the area I live. Thank you in advance.

No one here knows the answer to your question. When they are released then you can ask the various carriers what you can do. You can ask an Apple Store if they are selling unlocked phones. But we can’t give you an answer. We are all users. You are not talking to Apple here.

Sep 10, 2014 4:28 PM

Good to know 🙂 Thanks!

Sep 10, 2014 4:37 PM

Straight Talk uses Verizon’s network for their iPhone plans so you would not be able to use a T-Mobile plan . Phone.

Sep 10, 2014 6:45 PM

I’m using an att iphone on straight talk, so that’s not entirely true.

Sep 10, 2014 7:40 PM

If it is an older iPhone that was activated prior to Straight Talk/Walmart becoming an authorized reseller it did work on one of their plans if you had an unlocked iPhone and you could set your own APN.

Sep 10, 2014 7:54 PM

CCheck out walmart ‘a website. They are already advertising the iphone 6. I bet it will have. Regular launch.

Sep 11, 2014 4:49 AM

If you already have a nano bring your own straight talk sim, you can just pop that in. The Iphone 6 will support both the ATT and Tmobile GSM signals as far as I know.

If you dont have the sim, you can purchase either a Tmobile straight Sim, or ATT for like $7

Sep 12, 2014 6:08 AM

After speaking with the folks at an Apple store and them not knowing if it would work on straight talk, i decided to go to a T-Mobile store and spoke with a rep there. They were not quite sure as well, but the guy did inform me that if you purchased an iPhone 6 from apple and had no contract associated with it, then T-Mobile can give you the code to «unlock» it from them so i can be used with other GSM carriers. This gives me some hope. So I still pre-ordered the phone.

Sep 13, 2014 11:29 AM

There is no «code to unlock» an iPhone. Whoever you talked to didn’t know what they were talking about.

Sep 13, 2014 11:36 AM

YOU don’t know the answer. Doesn’t mean others don’t.

Sep 16, 2014 6:22 PM

Buy the Verizon model outright and you can use it on ST with TM.

Sep 16, 2014 6:22 PM

I was thinking the same thing. I went ahead and ordered the iPhone 6 plus T Mobile GSM version (no contract). I have done this in the past with Straight Talk. I am currently using the iPhone 5 with a T Mobile GSM sim from Straight Talk and it has been working just great for me for almost 2 years now. So, I am thinking the iPhone 6 will work the same way as long as you have the T Mobile GSM NANO sim card from Straight Talk. I am not guaranteeing this will work, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Here is the link from Straight Talk to order the Sim for 7 bucks. http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/shop/sims Just select T Mobile GSM and enter your zip code and it will take you to the purchase page. Be sure to purchase the Nano Sim Card and not the regular sim or the micro sim as the iPhone 6 does not support those.

Sep 17, 2014 6:39 PM

Currently, Apple claims they are not selling an ‘Unlocked’ version of the iphone 6 but I would guess that the TMO version is going to work. I think this version is actually unlocked but Apple calls it the TMO version because it comes with a TMO SIM card in it.

My iPhone 5 from ATT does work on the Straight Talk network because in my region ST is merely reselling the ATT network. Additionally, last month Apple needed to replace my iPhone 5 for a manufacturer defect and they gave me a TMO iPhone 5 as the replacement. This phone is definitely unlocked, as I’ve used it not only on the ST/ATT network here in the US but on TIM’s network with a TIM SIM card in Italy and on Vodafone’s networks with Vodafone SIM cards in both Portugal and Hungary.

In some regions, ST is reselling the VZW network so I would assume in those regions the VZW iPhone 6 is going to work out of the box but again I think the TMO phone should work regardless of the network as it has all frequencies built in.

should work fine as long as it is unlocked. i heard even locked at&t iphones will work with straight talk.

straight talk has a no tablet policy. other then that you are fine. go right ahead.

Nov 13, 2013 1:51 PM

StraightTalk is a supported CDMA carrier. They do not support any iPhone on their network other than the CDMA iPhones sold specifically for their network.

Nov 13, 2013 1:55 PM

that is a total lie. please delete your post.

straight talk will not work on cdma you have it backwards. straight talk is gsm

you buy the straight talk gsm sim for $6.88 and put it in either an unlocked iphone or a at&t iphone, either will work, and pay $45 a month

and you get unlimited talk and text and 2.5 g of high speed data

Nov 14, 2013 12:08 AM

It’s not a lie, it’s a fact. You don’t know what you’r talking about. Yes. You can buy a GSM SIM from StraightTalk. They no longer support unlocked GSM iPhones on their network. If you want to use StraightTalk and be supported, buy a StraightTalk CDMA iPhone.

Nov 14, 2013 3:11 AM

oh ok i remeber now what sam told me. you cut your sim to nano size and shave it a little, and it will work.

sorry i forgot about that. as long as you cut the sim down and shave it to fit the iphoen 5 , straight talk will work on iphones.

if i am wrong. i apoligize for someoje wasting $6.88 but that is what you get for expeirmenting

someone needs to be the one who tests it. people in mac rumors say that MMS or Visual Voie Mail may not work.

Nov 14, 2013 9:46 AM

What part of, ‘It’s not supported or allowed by StraightTalk’ do you not understand?

Nov 14, 2013 9:44 AM

what part of buy the $6.88 sim and cut it to nano size and at least try it do you not understand. what is straight talk going to do ? kill your iphone like they did with illegal cable descramblers ? big deal, you spend the money and try it out and the rest of the internet learns from you.

Nov 14, 2013 9:50 AM

It’s your money. If you want to do that, go right ahead. You’ve already been told it’s not supported.

Nov 14, 2013 9:52 AM

Why in the world would I want to waste my time or money to test out WallyWorld’s phone service for you?

Just go away, troll. You’re contributing absolutely nothing here.

Nov 14, 2013 9:53 AM

the original poster asked if an unlocked at&t iphone will work with a straight talk sim. it will. with exceptions.

Nov 14, 2013 10:32 AM

Lol i wouldnt just be wasting $6.88 if it doesnt work. I’d be wasting about $650. So idk one person siad it wont work others say it does idk *** to do. I guess ill just call Straight talk and ask them. Thankz for your help though guys I appreshate it.

Nov 18, 2013 7:21 PM

nah you wouldn’t be wasting the $650. you can get a 30 day refund, if the gamble of cutting a sim down to nano size and changing settings does not work. you just get another sim module, like from t-mobile or whoever.

tmobile has this deal where they give u a small amount of minutes but a lot of data. for like $30 a month.

i’ve heard in some t-mobile areas is metropcs compatible, so you can theoritcally metro pcs an iphone, but it would only work in very limited t-mobole gsm areas

there are a lot of at&t mvnos to choose from, gsm wise.. all the verizon mvnos require you to have a cdma device, like pageplus. they have a $10 bring your own device fee

i do not know about different LTE bands though

a lot of mvno companies selling pre paid service for iphones require you to actually buy the iphone from them, like boost mobile i think

Best Way to Unlock a Straight Talk iPhone | Hack, Unlock Code, or IMEI Unlock Method?

There are countless threads about how to unlock Straight Talk phones, and more specifically how to unlock Straight Talk iPhones, on Apple Community, Reddit, Quora, and other forums. After some analysis, I found that there are three main categories of people that want to unlock their Straight Talk iPhone:

  • Those who bought an iPhone directly from Straight Talk (in most cases an iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, or iPhone SE)
  • Those who bought a used iPhone online
  • And to my great surprise, those who bought a Walmart Straight Talk iPhone that was supposed to be unlocked

In this post, we will answer the following questions about Straight Talk iPhone Unlocking:

  • Is it difficult to Unlock a Straight Talk iPhone?
  • Are Straight Talk iPhones factory unlocked?
  • How can I unlock my Straight Talk iPhone?
  • Are there any unlock Straight Talk iPhone hacks?
  • Is there an available IMEI Straight Talk unlocking method?
  • Can I unlock my iPhone through Straight Talk directly?
  • Is there an app/software that can unlock Straight Talk iPhones?
  • Are there any hardware unlocking hacks for Straight Talk iPhones?
  • Can I use a Straight Talk Unlock Code on an iPhone?
  • Can I Unlock my iPhone 12 Pro Max locked on Straight Talk?

Unlock your Straight Talk iPhone

There are ways to network unlock a Straight Talk iPhone, but not through hacks and unlock codes. We cover all of them in detail in this post. The fastest and easiest way is to request an unlock from the carrier directly. But if they reject your request, and you want an expert to analyze your Straight Talk iPhone and locate the best unlocking service, then an iPhone IMEI Unlock Check service is your next best option:

The unlock, if successful, will allow you to use your iPhone with any network, no matter where you are in the world.

Is It Difficult to Unlock a Straight Talk iPhone?

A lot of people struggle to unlock their Straight Talk iPhones because there isn’t one ideal solution and existing methods have strict restrictions that require very thorough research. The good news is that you don’t have to be an expert or have over 10 years of experience in iPhone Unlocking (like us). You just need to know what to pay attention to.

If you have a full iPhone IMEI Check report of your iPhone and know how to read it, it is very easy to identify what the problem is and pick the right unlocking method.

If you want to save time, let an iPhone expert do it for you with our iPhone IMEI Unlock Check service.

Are Straight Talk Phones Already Unlocked?

Straight Talk’s policy is to provide new iPhones to their customers for free. Usually, they offer older models such as the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, or iPhone SE.

However, these iPhones are sold as locked iPhones, so you will not be able to use them with other carriers. As a policy, they will remain locked for at least a year from their activation date. At that point, you can request an unlock (but they have many restrictions in their unlock policy).

The main reason people believe that Straight Talk iPhones are sold unlocked is due to false advertising for used Straight Talk iPhones by mostly unofficial sellers and Walmart (according to the complaints we’ve read).

Straight Talk iPhones are never sold unlocked. We have never encountered a case where an out-of-the-box Straight Talk iPhone was unlocked.

5 Methods for Unlocking a Straight Talk iPhone

In general, there are five ways to network unlock an iPhone:

  1. IMEI service (Recommended)
  2. Unlock request through the carrier
  3. Hardware hack like RSIM
  4. Software/app
  5. Unlock code

1. Unlock Straight Talk iPhone with an IMEI Unlock service (Recommended)

An IMEI Unlock service is the only tested and guaranteed way to unlock a Straight Talk iPhone.

How IMEI Unlock Services Work

It’s easy to search for an IMEI Unlock Service in Google and choose one of the suggested suppliers.

They will ask for the IMEI number of your iPhone and an upfront payment. The provider will then submit your IMEI to a server that has access to mobile networks and Apple databases. The server will then change the SIM Lock status from locked to unlocked. You will only have to wait a few days for your order to be processed.

However, many things can go wrong if you aren’t familiar with how IMEI services work and what it takes to guarantee success.

What You Need to Know About IMEI Unlock Services:

  • Which network is locking your iPhone
Since there isn’t a one-size-fits-all service that support all networks, you’ll need to know which network your phone is locked with to determine the service you need.
  • If your iPhone is compatible with available services
You need to know before ordering an IMEI service if your iPhone is compatible with the IMEI Unlock services that are currently available.
  • Your iPhone model
Although the model generally only affects the IMEI Unlock price (it’s more expensive for the latest iPhone models), some models have limitations.
  • If your iPhone is blacklisted
It is still possible to unlock a blacklisted Straight Talk iPhone, but it requires a different service, usually called Premium IMEI service. Ordering a simple Unlock for a blacklisted iPhone will not work and you won’t be refunded.
  • Your iPhone’s financial & contract status
If there’s an outstanding financial balance (unpaid contract bills, pending device installment plan) or if the iPhone is still under an active contract, you will need a special service, usually called Semi-Premium IMEI Unlock. The simple Straight Talk Unlock service will not work in this case.
  • The Apple warranty status
An active Apple warranty or AppleCare+ can relock your device after a successful IMEI Unlock.
  • If your iPhone’s IMEI has been replaced
Unlock services only work with the original IMEI. In many cases, networks or Apple might change the IMEI (hardware replacement, insurance claim). Unlocking an iPhone with a replacement IMEI will not work.
  • When your iPhone was activated
The service you need may depend on when the iPhone was activated with the network.

If you are not 100% sure about the status of your iPhone, you will not know which service to use or if your device meets the conditions of the Straight Talk Unlock service.

Straight Talk Unlock IMEI services are not always available. When they are online, they only work for a limited time and for a limited number of IMEIs. Getting an IMEI unlock check will help prevent you from selecting the wrong service and losing precious time and money.

Success Rate of IMEI Unlock Services

Although all suppliers will claim that their IMEI unlock methods never fail, that isn’t the whole truth.

The service they’ve tapped into always starts with a 100% success rate. Unfortunately, this percentage gradually drops until the service is shut down.

Sooner or later, it will reappear and follow the same pattern which is why you need to check if the service is active before making a purchase.

Cost of an IMEI Unlock Service

An IMEI unlock generally costs between $50 and $200. The final price will depend on the status of your device and the availability of the unlock service.

Each company charges differently and it is quite likely that for the same service you will find huge fluctuations in prices between providers.

The big problem right now is that companies are offering Straight Talk IMEI Unlock services for between $20 and $30, but they are just pre-orders because the service isn’t available.

  • If the service is available, the company will ask you for an extra payment to unlock the phone.
  • If it’s not available immediately, they will notify you that another payment will be necessary once the service is activated.

How to Guarantee Results of an IMEI Unlock Service

There are IMEI Unlock suppliers that offer superb services. However, they will not refund you if you purchase the wrong service or a service your iPhone doesn’t meet ALL the conditions for.

The same goes for pre-orders.

Although they are often written somewhere in very fine print, it is very difficult to locate and understand the Terms & Conditions. Also, the final price of the actual unlock service will not be visible to you throughout the ordering process and pre-orders are non-refundable.

Although they only ask for your IMEI, these services do not know the status of your device and which Straight Talk Unlock service you will need.

Fortunately, it is possible to find out the exact status of your iPhone and which service will unlock your Straight Talk iPhone permanently in just a few seconds.
With our iPhone Unlock Check service , not only will you get a full report on your iPhone within a few seconds, but an iPhone expert will suggest all the available Straight Talk IMEI Unlock solutions that will work for your specific device.

2. Request to Unlock Straight Talk iPhone Through The Carrier

Straight Talk, like many other carriers, allows you to request to unlock your iPhone on their website.

Who can request a carrier unlock: Everyone. Even if you aren’t a Straight Talk customer.
Requirements for carrier unlock: Your iPhone must meet all the conditions of the Straight Talk Unlock Policy.
Price of carrier unlock: $0 – $10. There is usually a fee if you aren’t or have never been a Straight Talk customer.
Success rate of carrier unlock requests: 1% – In our 10 years of experience, we have helped more than 2,000 clients make an unlock request to Straight Talk and only 22 iPhones were successfully unlocked. Straight Talk’s unlock policies are extremely strict and will reject most requests.

Straight Talk’s Strict iPhone Unlock Policy

It is a straightforward process to try unlocking your iPhone through Straight Talk’s website. The main issue is their SIM Unlock policy:

  • The iPhone must have been locked by Straight Talk
  • They will unlock phones of current and former Straight Talk customers for free and charge you if you are not a customer
  • The iPhone cannot be blacklisted
  • There must be no outstanding financial balances
  • The iPhone must have been active in their service for at least one year
  • Military personnel must provide additional paperwork
How to Request a Carrier Unlock from Straight Talk

Go to their website to request an unlock and follow these simple steps:

  1. Scroll down to the Serial Number field and fill in your iPhone’s IMEI number
  2. Check the “I’m not a robot” captcha box
  3. Click “Verify Eligibility”

They will then inform you if your device is eligible to be unlocked.

  • If your iPhone is eligible, they will ask for your email and phone number to finalize the unlock process.
  • If your iPhone isn’t eligible, they will not disclose the reason and redirect you to a page about their unlocking policies that looks like this

Despite having submitted your unlock request on the Straight Talk website, this is actually TracFone’s policy because Straight Talk is now owned by TracFone Wireless.

TracFone also bought NeT10 Wireless, Total Wireless, Telcel, SIMPLE Mobile, and SafeLink Wireless Connection so all of these networks now share TracFone’s SIM unlocking policies.

3. Use a Hardware Method to Unlock Straight Talk iPhone

There are countless hardware unlock products out there known as “card stickers”. We decided to test them out ourselves by trying to unlock a Straight Talk iPhone 6. Here are the results:

Who can use a hardware unlock method: The package says everyone, but…
Requirements for hardware unlock method: Each one of them works on a specific iPhone model, iOS version and mobile network.

Price of a hardware unlock hack: $10 – $40
Success Rate of a hardware unlock hack: 0%
There are seven of these hardware unlock hacks for iPhone: RSIM, GPP SIM, Turbo SIM, Heicard, XSIM, Gevey, and UnlockMySIM. All of them have received a lot of negative criticism for many different reasons:

  • Did not work in all iOS and iPhone models
  • Was not a permanent iPhone Unlock solution
  • iOS can’t be updated after unlock
  • Hardware Unlock SIM Card was defective
  • Voids Apple warranty
  • Damages or even destroys iPhone
  • Increased sudden call drops
  • Leads to weak service signal

In our tests, we found that the bad reviews are true. Of the seven hacks, two of them were defective and none of them managed to unlock the iPhone.

How to Use a Hardware Method to Unlock a Straight Talk iPhone

These unlock Straight Talk phone hacks almost look like any normal SIM card which is why many people refer to them as “SIM Interposers”.

Squeeze the SIM Interposer with the SIM card you want to use inside the iPhone’s SIM slot. Then, go to the iPhone’s settings and change them according to the instructions included with the box you purchased.

4. Use Software/app to Unlock Straight Talk iPhone

This method is no longer available. Any kind of current unlock software is a scam, not just for Straight Talk but for any network.

Downloading any online Unlock Straight Talk iPhone software is dangerous. The ones that cost a few dollars aren’t going to work. The ones that are free are usually trying to steal your personal data and credit or debit card information.

This method used to unlock iPhone models up to the iPhone 4s with iOS 6.1.6. No device today has software versions that old so all software unlock methods (Ultrasn0w & Cydia) no longer work.

Be extremely wary of sites that still suggest this method and stay away from any kind of iPhone unlock software.

5. Use Unlock Code to Unlock Straight Talk iPhone

Many, if not all networks, including Straight Talk, use this method to provide SIM Unlock (for free or a small fee) as long as the phone meets all the requirements of the unlock policy.

There are also third-party services that have somehow gained access to these codes or found a way to generate them for themselves by imitating the algorithm used by each network.

However, the unlock code method is ONLY for ANDROID phones.

The problem is that you will find many companies offering them for iPhones for between $10 and $60.

Although there is no way they will work on iPhones, no company is going to give you your money back.

Stay away from any kind of iPhone Unlock code solutions.

Which Method Should I use to Unlock my Straight Talk iPhone?

Of the 5 different Straight Talk Unlock options above, only two may actually work. So here’s what we recommend:

  1. First, go to the Straight Talk website and request a SIM unlock. They will probably refuse but you have nothing to lose.
  2. Then try an IMEI Unlock service, but first, check if your Straight Talk iPhone is eligible for an IMEI Unlock.

Before choosing an IMEI Straight Talk iPhone Unlock online supplier, make sure the device is eligible by verifying:

  1. The exact IMEI status of a device
  2. If the iPhone is supported by the IMEI Network Unlock service you need
  3. If the service is currently available
  4. That you are getting the right service at the right price and not a pre-order
  5. That you can get your money back if anything goes wrong

You can easily achieve all of the above with an iPhone IMEI Unlock Check . After all, this is what all IMEI Unlock suppliers actually do before submitting your IMEI number to a server.
