I’ve heard some of my friends who don’t want to spend too much for an iPhone say that they would rather buy the iPod Touch since it is cheaper and has practically all of the same features of the iPhone except the phone functionality. The iPod Touch is primarily a media player and can’t make phone calls. But then, as we all know by now, there are already many iPod Touch apps available that will let you make VoIP calls if your iPod Touch has a microphone/headphone. There are also apps that will let you send text messages using your iPod Touch. Even Apple’s Facetime app for iPod Touch makes this all possible.

iPhone vs iPod Touch — Similar Features

When it comes to features, the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th Gen share many things in common. One of these features is the front-facing and back-facing camera. This is actually a big update for the iPod Touch since previous models don’t have any camera. With a front-facing camera, both iOS devices can now make VoIP calls. These can be done either through Apple’s own Facetime app which comes built-in to the iPhone 4’s messaging app and as a separate app for the iPod Touch. When it comes to picture quality, both devices can produce decent photos although the iPhone 4 has a more powerful camera 5MP vs 3.2MP for the back-facing camera.

Another similarity between the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch is of course the iOS apps. Most if not all of the apps available from the App Store support both devices. And as you all know by now, these apps extend the device’s capabilities and features. You can practically find any apps for just about anything. There is always an app for that, right?

Both the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch can also capture HD-quality at 720p resolution videos. Both support Apple’s excellent iMovie app which lets you create short clips in various creative ways.

iPhone vs. iPod Touch — Different Features

Let’s take a look now at the differences between the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch when it comes to their features. First difference is the connectivity feature. The iPhone 4 is your ultimate device for connecting online, any time, anywhere. Thanks to both its 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, you are always sure to be online with your iPhone 4. The iPod Touch 4 on the other hand can only allow you to stay connected online for as long as you are within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Because of this 3G connectivity, the iPhone 4’s GPS feature is a great advantage of the phone over the iPod Touch. As an added feature, the GPS also makes it possible for the iPhone 4 to be used as a compass through a third-party app.

Another difference between the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch has to do with storage. The iPhone 4 is available only in either 16GB or 32GB models while the iPod Touch 4 is available in either 8GB, 32GB or 64GB models. The 64GB iPod Touch is of course geared for users who use their devices for audio and video consumption.

Going now to their design and form factor, the iPhone 4 is slightly taller than the iPod Touch but the iPod Touch is slightly wider. Obviously, the iPod Touch is lighter than the iPhone. But when it comes to dimensions, the iPod Touch is obviously thinner than the iPhone 4.

The answer to the above question is pretty obvious, right? Wrong. I would not declare that the iPhone 4 is a better device than the iPod Touch 4th Gen. Each of these iOS devices are best at what they are supposed to do. The iPhone 4 is a great smartphone, while the iPod Touch 4 is a great media player.

Знаете, когда-то давно, в моём сопливом детстве, мы держали скотину.

На семью из пяти человек, в самом начале зимы мы забивали двух свиней.

Это как минимум 200 кг мяса, не считая голов, ливера и копыт.

Гдет в конце декабря мы резали бычка или тёлку.

Это ещё 150-170 кг чистого мяса.

Жена частенько меня подъёбывает по поводу моего «голодного детства»..

Да, моё детство было голодным, ибо всё детство мы пропадали на улице и из еды был только кусок хлеба, который ты спиздил с кухни пока мать отвернулась и убежал на весь день.

Конечно, можно было зайти домой и тебя бы накормили, но ведь потом тебя на улицу не выпустят..

Ладно, сейчас разговор не об этом..

После разделки туш, оставались три головы, 12 ног, 12 мотолыжек, два свинячих хвостика и один бычий хуй хвост.

В один из дней отец говорил:

— 4iLiSH, сходи в сарай. Наруби там на холодец.

К тёще поедем, холодца сварим, тестя угостим.

Сейчас наверное все яжемамки и яжепапки пизданутся в обморок, да и хуй бы с ними, если честно.

Я, 10-12-ти летний мальчишка, брал топор, нож, шёл в сарай, рубил на части головы, ноги, мотолыжки, укладывал порубленые куски в сумку и мы с отцом ехали к бабушке и деду.

Видя нас на пороге, бабушка всегда расплывалась в самой искренней улыбке.

Дед тоже улыбался.

Пока бабушка поила нас чаем с вареньем, с плюшками-ватрушками, с пирогами и прочими нехитрыми сладостями типа пирожков с морковкой или свёклой, отец с дедом укладывали порубленное мной мясо в охуенно большую кастрюлю и ставили её на печь.

Да, во времена моего детства, газа не было и зимой печь топилась круглосуточно.

— 4iLiSH, — звучал голос отца, — ну что, попил чаю?

Вставай, пошли. Поможем немножко старикам..

Дед с бабушкой сразу же начинали бурдеть на моего отца, типа пусть ребёнок сидит отдыхает. Ничего помогать не нужно, они сами всё сделают и нахуй им именно моя помощь не нужна.

— Ну ты чего к ребёнку пристал?! Тебе сказали уже, не надо ничего, мы сами всё сделаем! Сиди, внучок! Вот, ещё пирожок возьми..

— Нет, ну правда, пошто мальчишку тиранить, пусть с бабкой сидит, сами управимся..

Отец же, не обращая внимания на пламенные речи деда с бабкой просто смотрел на меня.

Я нехотя поднимался из-за стола и под причитания бабушки о том как сильно заебали её внука физическими нагрузками мы выходили из дома во двор.

Там мы втроём, я, мой батя и мой дед, чистили снег.

Его было не то чтоб дохуя, его было пиздец сколько дохуя.

Высказывания отца, типа:

— Смотри, дед, стареешь.. Внук-то, быстрее тебя лопатой орудует..

Придавали мне сил и я кидал снег как тот роторный снегоуборщик.

Закончив кидать снег, мы шли колоть дрова.

— 4iLiSH, давай мы будем колоть, а ты носи и в сарай их складывай, — предлагали мне.

— Да схера-ли. — возмущался я.

Дед старый, пусть он и носит! Я же сильнее деда, я и буду колоть.

Дед с отцом улыбались и после недолгих попыток уговорить меня на работу полегче, соглашались с тем что я уже взрослый мужик.

Отец колол чурбаки на плахи. Я колол плахи на поленья, дед носил их в сарай.

Иногда мы заходили домой погреться, отдохнуть, покушать или попить чай.

Бабушка тщетно взывала к совести двух здоровых мужиков, которые маленького мальчишку уже совсем заморили.

Отец с дедом улыбались.

— А мы разве его заставляем?

Если устал, так пусть сидит и отдыхает, мы сами доделаем.

Закончив колоть дрова, я еще успевал помочь деду перетаскать их в сарай.

— Помощник. — гладил меня по вспотевшей голове дед, когда мы, уже вечером заходили домой.

А потом мы садились за стол разбирать сварившийся к тому времени холодец.

Мы все вместе отделяли мясо от костей.

Бабушка, отрезав кусок хлеба и отщипнув самый смачный кусочек мяса протягивала мне.

— Держи. Больше всех сегодня работал. Устал?

Я мотал головой и говорил что не устал.

— Повезло тебе, сынок, — говорил дед.

Игрушек, вон, полный магазин..

А мы раньше вот эти кости, от холодца, сушили и потом ими в бабки играли..

Отец разливал из привезённой бутылки в две рюмки и они с дедом долго сидели за столом, обсуждая совершенно неинтересные мне вопросы.

Глаза мои постепенно закрывались и бабушка уводила меня в соседнюю комнату, на диван.

А утром, на столе, стоял холодец.

Не знаю кто как, а я холодец люблю.

Вот и сейчас, закусил рюмаху кусочком холодца, прикрыл на секунду глаза, и на меня нахлынули эти воспоминания.

У меня получилось. В этом году у меня получилось два очень больших дела. Вот конкретно для меня прям гигантских дела. Первое. Я бросил курить. Стаж курения больше 20 лет. Как бросил, спросите вы? Отвечаю. Жалко стало деньги. Сигареты стали стоить все дороже и дороже. Раньше я курил Кент 8, потом Винстон, потом Бонд, Филлипс Моррис, и даже это уже стало дорого. А куда дальше. Вот и решил ну нах. Лучше вообще не буду курить. И не курю уже с 1 сентября. Почему именно с первого. Не знаю так получилось. Не было привязано к магии чисел. А второе дело. Я уехал на работу в Чехию! И теперь буду пытаться наладить жизнь и быт тут. Вот такое замечательное завершение года. Который начинался как урод.

Question: Q: I have an ipod and iphone which should play WAV files. They are never downloaded onto the device as there is an error -won’t play as WAV file! Help!

Help please. Have some WAV files — play fine on computer -Mac — but won’t play on iphone 5 or ipod classic probably 5th gen, which should be able to play WAV files — but they don’t -had to convert to AAC files. What am I doing wrong?

Quite possibly. I have had the experience with files sampled at 48 kHz that played fine in iTunes but would not sync to the iPod.

If that is the problem, use the conversion process to resample them to 44.1 kHz ALAC. This is controlled in Import Settings «Customer Settings,» «Sample Rate.»

If what you are wanting is lossless files, converting the WAVs to Apple Lossless (ALAC) will keep the same quality while reducing the sizes of the files by about half while also ensuring the files will play on all iOS devices.

You’ll need to open iTunes Prefs > General and click the «import settings» button. Change it to Apple Lossless and click OK out of the Prefs. Now you will be able to convert the WAVs to ALAC.

What exactly do you mean by «won’t play»? Do you get an error message? What exactly happens when you try to play it?

When I sync my iPhone or iPod with iTunes the Wav files are not transferred to the device. An error message states that «Some if the items in the iTunes library including » name of song» were not copied because they cannot be played on this device (iPhone/iPod) . It allows me to click a triangle which lists the tracks. They are all Wav files.

I can play them on iTunes but not on device. According to Apple my iPhone 5 and iPod can play Wav files. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I have converted the Wav files to AAC, but surely I should be able to transfer and play as Wav files.

Your help/advice/comments appreciated.

Well, this is weird. but my advice and comments are just to delete the .wav and keep the .aac. .Aac files are smaller anyways, to my knowledge. may as well.

This helped -but I can only see how to convert to AAC files. Also on that list gave option of converting to an iphone/ipod version — but not highlighted so unable to do.

What is the sample rate? According to the tech specs page for the iPhone 5 there are no restrictions on sample rate/bit rate of music files: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP655

Thanks — sample rate for ALAC and Wav is 96.00KHz.

Is this the only reason Wav files won’t play? Will have an experiment!

That could be the problem. But, as I mentioned in a previous post, there’s nothing on the tech specs page for the iPhone or iPod Classic for that matter that says there are any restrictions to the sample/bit rate of the files. So. they should play.

This may or may not be releated, but I know sample rates higher than 48 kHz are not supported for iTunes Match. The tracks will play in iTunes, though. The tracks get tagged as «ineligible» but 48 kHz are supported. It may be the same for other playback devices.
