В Праге откроется первый в Чехии официальный магазин Apple Store

Не исключено, что в скором времени в Чехии, то есть в ее столице, появится первый официальный магазин Apple Store. На своем сайте «яблочная» корпорация выложила вакансию «руководителя Apple Shop в Праге. Поэтому и были сделаны соответствующие выводы.

Больше 12 месяцев назад премьер-министр Чехии Андрей Бабиш выразил мнение о том, что американская компания может открыть первый магазин в Центральной и Восточной Европе именно в Праге. Эта мысль пришла чиновнику в голову после встречи с президентом корпорации Тимом Куком. В январе 2019 год Бабиш встречался с ним в Давосе. Там проходил Всемирный экономический форум. Пока Apple Store представлен лишь в десяти городах Европы. Поэтому премьер-министр Чехии еще в Давосе предложил Куку построить магазин на пражской территории. Но прошло больше года, и упоминание об этом только сейчас взбудоражило общественность. Тогда Бабиш сообщал, что американская корпорация определится с конкретным планом экспансии в Европе в течение одного-двух лет. И вот теперь поклонники «яблочных» гаджетов, видимо, могут серьезно рассчитывать на открытие пражского Apple Store. О чем и говорит размещение соответствующей вакантной позиции. Американцы ищут специалиста, который станет заниматься розничными продажами в столице Чехии. Текст опубликованного объявления связывают именно с физическим магазином, поскольку в нем упоминаются соответствующие требования. Это управление магазином, его развитие, передача уникального опыта покупателям через всех членов команды Apple Store.

Tim Cook talks reveals plans for Prague Apple store in talk with Czech Prime Minister

One of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s meetings at the World Economic Forum on Thursday was with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, who managed to secure a promise of an Apple store in the country’s capital, Prague.

Babis suggested that the ideal place for a store would be the Ministry of Regional Development building in the city’s Old Town Square. The meeting was documented by Babis on Facebook, and by local news site Letemsvetemapplem.eu.

The pair also discussed topics such as artificial intelligence and the economy. Cook noted that there are about 500 researchers in the republic working on AI.

Apple doesn’t have any retail footprint in the country despite the prominence of Prague and the popularity of the country as a tourist destination. Although it was repeatedly bombed by the U.S. in 1945, Prague suffered comparatively little damage in World War II next to other European capitals, leaving much of its historic architecture intact.

The annual World Economic Forum gathering in Davos, Switzerland, offers corporate and political leaders a chance to talk with each other about future plans. Cook has already met people like Dubai’s crown prince, the chancellor of Austria, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

A point of controversy was a group dinner including Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, a far-right politician who has defended torture and the murderous military dictatorships of Brazil and Chile. He has also vocally attacked homosexuality, which could be a problem for Cook.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Meets Czech Prime Minister, Promises New Apple Store in Prague

Apple CEO Tim Cook is in Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum this week, and today he met with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

Babiš shared photos of his meeting with Cook on Facebook (via Letemsvetemapplem.eu), and provided some details on what the two discussed. According to Babiš, the two talked about technology in the Czech Republic, also touching on topics such as AI and the economy.

Cook was «thrilled» that there are 500 researchers working in AI in the Czech Republic, and when Babiš asked about an Apple Store for Prague, Cook said that Apple was indeed prepared to open a new ‌Apple Store‌ in the city.

Babiš said the ideal place for the ‌Apple Store‌ would be the Ministry of Regional Development building in the Old Town Square, but should Apple move forward with plans, it’s not clear where the store would be located. Apple currently has no retail stores in the Czech Republic.

Cook yesterday met with the Crown Prince of Dubai, and earlier in the week, Cook met with the Armenian Prime Minister and had dinner with Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and more.

But in Prague it’s people sight seeing and drinking beer on the old town.

There’s no real retail on old town square beyond cheap cheap holiday gifts.

Old town square would be a terrible place for the Apple store.

It’d be full of people with no intention of buying anything.

Surely a shopping area would be better?

I hope those promises will become reality. I’m not fan of APR shops in Czech Republic, much worse services than Apple Stores and overpriced repairs.

And Babiš 😀 2nd richest Czech citizen / prime minister. not his fan either.

Logistics. You are over a thousand miles from anywhere. A store in Wellington could not be supported efficiently by a central repair depot. And keeping an isolated store fully stocked is expensive, without the ability to share inventory between stores or utilize a central warehouse. I doubt you have the turnover to support this economically.

This is exactly the type of location that Apple picks in many cities. Look at Placa de Catalunya in Barcelona, the Amsterdam store, or the old Louvre store in Paris. All areas with heavy foot traffic and lots of tourists, but not really traditional shopping areas.

Putting Apple Stores in these places they capture well-heeled tourists who probably have time on their hands. Even if they don’t buy anything on the spot, they’re being exposed to the brand and might think about Apple when they get home.

But in Prague it’s people sight seeing and drinking beer on the old town.

There’s no real retail on old town square beyond cheap cheap holiday gifts.
