Jaws Unleashed

Jaws Unleashed должна была стать чертовски оригинальным и увлекательным проектом. Судите сами — чуть ли не впервые за всю историю создания «игр по фильмам» нам предлагают не дежурный шутер «по мотивам», а единственный в своем роде симулятор акулы! Если в предыдущих Jaws-играх главные роли отводились охотникам на зубастую красавицу, то в новых «Челюстях» дело обстоит с точностью до наоборот. Для полноты картины также стоит отметить, что в ходе разработки игру постоянно сравнивали с Postal 2 (кровь кубометрами, расчлененка тоннами), а главной «фишкой» проекта должна была стать возможность полакомиться человеком, поедая его частями. Лепота! Однако в итоге все вышло в разы прозаичнее.

Иногда движок все-таки выдает приличную картинку.

Главная беда Jaws Unleashed — камера и управление. Придумать приемлемую навигацию акулой — задание не из простых. И, увы, разработчики его провалили. Рассекать морские просторы удобно лишь до той поры, пока мы не решим грызнуть рыбку или там человечка в акваланге. С этого момента камера начинает вытворять такие кульбиты, что порою становится тошно. В то время как мы, высунув язык, пытаемся побороть мышку, наша пища с буддийским спокойствием проплывает мимо. Учитывая, что в игре присутствует параметр «голод» (а еще здоровье, сила, ловкость — даже в таком проекте поселилась частичка RPG), утолять который нужно регулярно, тошно становится вдвойне. Через некоторое время к местной камере все-таки привыкаешь, но неприятный осадок, то и дело всплывающий наружу, останется до финальных титров.

Вторая по значимости проблема Jaws Unleashed — совершенно не впечатляющая расчлененка. Аквалангисты сделаны из пластиковых деталей и наполнены красной краской, рядовые «купающиеся» выглядят немногим лучше, но также неизбежно далеки от того, что нам было обещано.

Правильно, таких вот людей с полигональной недостаточностью нужно уничтожать самыми брутальными способами!

Разумеется, наше брюзжание можно было бы счесть приступом нездорового садизма, если бы не одно маленькое «но» — кроме поедания всего, что движется, в игре банально нечем заняться. Выполнять дополнительные задания неинтересно в силу их примитивности, искать различные бонусы скучно (раздражает стремительно тающая полоска голода), вот и остаются лишь сюжетные миссии. А история тут знатная, заставляющая вспомнить оригинальную кинокартину — белая акула Брюс заплывает в пляжную зону, пробует на зуб отдыхающих и попадается в сети охотников. Оказавшись в закрытом пространстве, зверюга понимает, что жить не может без океанских просторов и, немного поработав хвостом и зубами (кстати, это весь наш арсенал), вырывается наружу. Далее следует череда миссий, состоящих из всевозможных подрывов заводов и лодок. Также присутствуют в заданиях и небольшие головоломки — например, взрыв трех нефтяных башен при помощи канистр с горючим.

Картинка у Jaws Unleashed неоднозначна. С одной стороны — топорные homo sapiens, которыми побрезговал бы и проходной проект трехлетней давности, с другой — великолепно оттекстурированный и анимированный главный герой, резвящийся в красивейшем море. Также игра чертовски кинематографична — присутствуют красивейший бой с касаткой (в финале схватки Брюс перекусывает ее пополам), «затягивание» в воду вертолета и еще несколько эффектных скриптовых роликов, от просмотра которых захватывает дух.

У Jaws Unleashed есть одна очень сильная сторона — это ее оригинальность. Разработчики решились на действительно дерзкий поступок, и это впечатляет. А вот техническая реализация, увы, оказалась слабой. Тем не менее мы рекомендуем игру к просмотру — нечасто выходит такое.
