Could this helpful guide be any better?

Only if they keep going back in time and adding older sets! This guide not only allows you to find those pesky instructions your kids have misplaced, but organizes them by family type (City, Star Wars, DC, Marvel, etc) and by year released.

Devs: Please add a feature to favorite the current sets your kids are working on. As the family collection gets larger, digging through the sets could be helped by making a setting where the sets the kids are currently working on filter tot he top. Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep adding to this from a historical aspect. The kids have lost some of their instructions from several years ago and they are right outside where this app goes back to. I also have sets from my childhood (not going to indicate the year other than to say I had Space and City sets) and I would love to see those instructions on here. I think parents looking for these sets would be willing to pay to unlock older sets. Maybe a small one time fee would help fund adding these older sets in!

Thanks for the great feedback! 💖 If you want to keep track of your sets, just click on the little plus symbol before opening the instructions. It will add them to your profile for easy access. As for adding more sets: Our team’s always working on that. 😁 Have a look on LEGO.build/BI-Apple for instructions you can’t find, as we have older sets there. Happy building! ✨ — Gabriela, LEGO® Customer Service

Cool, but

I got this app because I am missing a couple instruction manuals for my Lego sets, but I noticed that you don’t have some of the older Disney princess or Lego friends sets. Such as raves castle with her three brothers or Rapunzel‘s tower the one with the older style molds and stuff I don’t remember the name for the redheaded girl of Lego friends but her old lemonade stand is missing. Also the Lego friends Olivia set with that rescue she had the Chamaeleon in that little tiger is like a rafting rescue or something also the Lego friends Olivia set with that rescue she had the Chamaeleon and that little tiger is like a rafting rescue or something. Then there was Stephanie‘s car from the original Lego friends and Stephanie‘s airplane seaplane I think it was. I would really love to have the instructions for those because my books are all broken and old. But otherwise this app is great because I can put the Instructions on my phone.

Great. but.

This is a great app for anyone that wants to log their Lego sets and have a digital copy of instructions “just in case”. If I have one complaint it’s that older sets are not included. I’ve been collecting for DECADES (yeah, I’m OLD!) and I have sets that are not included in the app, that have instructions that are not looking so great after being moved around a bit. I also have some UCS sets that I just don’t want to handle the instructions more than I have to, of course these big sets were not known as UCS back then, “just big and expensive”!
I am in NO WAY bashing this app, it’s great! I’m hoping the development team on the app will continue to dig into the Lego archives and upload the instructions from sets from the very first day Lego made products. It would be great to have instructions to those old, never to be seen on the shelves again sets, so we old folks could recreate the sets from our childhood. I mean imagine what kind of business would be driven to the Lego online store of people needing to buy the bricks to recreate the castles from our youth.
Here’s hoping they listen and add those older sets. PLEASE.

Ratings and Reviews

Great for prototypes and freehand, but making a board would be nice.

(UPDATE) as I’ve been using it I’ve realized there are some very weird user experience interactions in this app. I work at a UX agency, and I have to say with the invision app I’m always finding interactions where I have to stop and think “how the heck do they call this a good user experience.” For being a UX focused company, I’m disappointed in them.

At this point I’ve come to expect that I can do everything on my iPad Pro that I can do on my laptop, however with the invision app that isn’t the case yet.

They’ve made great strides with the recent edition of freehand, but now I would very much like to make my own boards from my iPad whenever inspiration strikes, rather than it being a desktop only feature.

Developer Response ,

Hi there! We wanted to let you know that we have introduced Freehand in the latest build which will enable you to whiteboard with your Apple Pencil. Thanks for your patience and feedback!

Poor Execution on a Good Idea

I desperately wanted to like InVision, but currently, the experience on my iPad Pro may be one of the worst, inconsistent, and buggy apps in its class. It’s clear that the team has only given the mobile experience a passing consideration as many features, and especially the Freehand section, are so riddled with bugs that it’s almost unusable.

For example, trying to change the shape tool in Freehand sometimes offers up the expected menu for another choice, but more often than not, it won’t. Instead, it will end up “selecting” the option below it as if I were trying to copy and paste the icon. Even once I get it to select what I’m looking for, it frequently fails to actually draw anything as if another action is being performed. The only way to “fix” any of these compounding issues is to completely exit the document and come back in to work for a few minutes more and repeat the process.

Part of what makes this so frustrating is the amount of potential here. This very well could have been my highlight discovery as in concept, it’s almost everything I could have asked for, but the execution is so bad, I’m considering abandoning the desktop experience as well. How the app ever saw the light of day in this state is beyond my understanding.

App crashes when accessing every single prototype

The app is useless except for viewing comments. The app crashes after viewing any of my teams various prototypes after about 30 seconds. This happens every single time, for every single prototype. These crashes defeat the entire purpose of downloading and using the application.

The UX of the app doesn’t matter if the app crashes every time you try to view a profile. Useless! InVision really needs to pay more attention to squashing bugs, not only on this application, but on the web based application as well on desktop. I’ve sent their support team multiple problems/tickets when trying to expand groups in a prototype and not being able to expand or collapse groups of mock-ups. They offered no support and told me they would tell the product team. Here it is a year later and it’s still a huge issue with both myself using it, as well as my entire UX team of 18 team members. Not good!

Very disappointed in InVision’s quality. It could be great if only a few bugs were taken care. Without fixes, the bugs completely cripple the experience and usage on mobile and desktop.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, sorry to hear about your issue. Could you please contact me (brendanquinn@invisionapp.com) so we can investigate further? We will look into these crashes for you asap and get them resolved. Hope to hear from you and thank you for your patience.
