Can I bring my current phone number over to Mint Mobile?

To transfer your current phone number to Mint, simply select the option ‘Transfer My Number’ during activation. We suggest prepping before activation as you’ll need some information from your old carrier:

-Your account number from your former carrier. Your account number can be found on your billing statement, or you can hit up your provider’s customer service department.
– The corresponding password, pass code or PIN code number.
– The billing address associated with the account.

Unfortunately, once a plan is activated we can’t transfer your number to your current Mint account. So make sure you do it at activation.

Note: Usually the transfer process is pretty quick, but sometimes it may take up to 48 hours to complete and landlines can take up to 5 business days. If you have any questions regarding your transfer, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat. Once the number has been successfully transferred, we will we send you an SMS and confirmation email.

FYI, Mint does not charge a fee for transferring your number, but your less-cool, old school carrier might.

Can I get a new phone number with Mint Mobile?

Yes, you can request a new number during the SIM card activation process. You will need to enter your ZIP code and choose the option, “Get a new number.” A new number will auto generate based on the ZIP code and availability in your particular area code.
Any resemblance your new number bears to the geographical coordinates of the Lost City of Atlantis is purely coincidental.

How do I know how much data I need each month?

Option 1: Check out how much you’re using right now! Log into your current account and look for the section on your monthly data usage.

Option 2: You can go to your phone’s settings (Settings > Cellular Data for iPhone, or for Android Settings Menu > Data Usage > Select Dates for Android). Do a little hunting around and see what you use.

Option 3: We got you. For a rough idea of how much data you need to check out our handy blog.

Can I bring my own device?

Does a fox sleep in the woods? With our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program, you can easily get Mint Mobile on your current device. Just switch out the SIM card and presto!
Compatible BYOP devices include:

– Most phones with a SIM card
You may need to hit up your carrier to unlock your phone (and major Mint savings).
If you’re still not sure if your phone will work with Mint Mobile, visit willmyphonework.net. Once there, enter your phone’s brand and model, U.S. for country and, under “Carrier,” choose our partner company, Ultra Mobile. (This, however, does not guarantee if the device is unlocked or that the phone will work with our service).

Do you have stores?

Nope. We’re digital only—no expensive real estate to maintain or rent to pay, baby. That’s one big reason we can keep our costs down and pass the savings on to you.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t ask for help if you need it. Our customer care humans are available 7 days a week 5AM-7PM PST at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.

I’ve ordered, when will my SIM be delivered?

We offer different shipping options depending on how urgently you need your new phone service. Choose between 2-3 day shipping (for FREE), overnight or if you are in a rush we have same day delivery (CA ZIP codes only).

Any orders placed after 2pm CT will be processed and shipped the following business day. Unfortunately, we do not process and ship orders on Sunday or public holidays. Even foxes need a rest sometimes.

Once your order has been shipped we will send you a tracking number, which you can monitor obsessively by clicking the link in the email!

How do I know if I have coverage in my area?

Check our coverage map to verify service in your area. The icons in green will show the expected coverage in that location (outdoors, indoor residential, etc.) for certain device types. Enter multiple addresses/ZIP codes to check all the areas where you live work and play.

Please be aware that outside factors like terrain, building structures, weather, and other conditions may also interfere with the actual service available.

Any doubts then you can test us out with our Starter Kit, available exclusively through the Mint Mobile app. You’ll get a 7-day trial to test where you live, work and play. When you love us then you can purchase a full plan directly from the app.

How do I insert a SIM Card?

Depends on your device’s make and model. All plans come with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes mini, micro and nano sizes to fit your phone. Just punch the size that will fit your phone and use the handy sim ejector tool that we gave you to pop out the SIM tray.

Not sure where your SIM card is located? Check your phone manual or just ask Google for the location of the SIM card in your phone and which size you’ll need.

If you need help inserting the SIM, the Mint Fox will talk you through it step-by-step in this instructional video.

Why did I get a second SIM kit with my Mint order?

When you order a Mint plan, we give you a second SIM kit – the Share the Love Kit. This is to pass on to a friend who is overpaying on wireless and should be on Mint. Friends help friends save. The kit includes a 7 day free trial of Mint with 250 minutes of talk, 250 texts and 250MB of data. When your friend loves us and purchase a full plan, you will get renewal credit for your next plan and your friend will get $15 of credit to use on their next plan renewal. Sweet, right?

Should I cancel my existing service before I transfer my number to Mint Mobile?

No! Your service must be active with your original carrier in order for them to release your number. Otherwise you could create a rupture in the space-time continuum and everyone will suddenly be walking around in platform shoes and polyester jumpsuits.

What is Mint Mobile’s 7-Day Money Back Guarantee refund policy?

All of our full plans and Starter Kits feature a 7-Day Money Back Guarantee for all purchases made on mintmobile.com or using the app. You can cancel your service for any reason within 7 days of activation and we will refund you 100% of the purchase price, including any fees and taxes. Shipping is not refunded.

Do all plans include Mobile Hotspot?

Reminder: Mobile hotspot is limited to 5GB for Unlimited plans.

I purchased a 3-month plan at an introductory price. What will the cost of my plan be when I renew?

After you have tried our service and know what data plan is right for you, then you can choose the length of plan depending on how clever you want to get; 3, 6 or 12 months.

Mint Tip: You can lock in our introductory 3-month pricing by renewing for 12 months.

Log into your account at mintmobile.com/login anytime to view our available plans and pricing.

Is the 5G • 4G LTE data per month or across all the months in my plan?

Per month, baby! So stream away—it comes back. For example, if you buy a 12 month, 15GB plan, you will get 15GB of high-speed 5G • 4G LTE data to use each month for 12 months. Any unused data does not roll over, though. It resets at the end of your data cycle.

I’ve finished my 5G • 4G LTE data before the end of my cycle, can I buy more?

Hungry for data? Why wait? You can purchase more data three ways:

i. Add more 5G • 4G LTE data through the Mint Mobile app by selecting “Buy more data” in the menu

iii. Message UPDATA to 6700 and follow the instructions. You will need to have money in your Mint Mobile wallet to make this purchase.

Is my phone compatible with eSIM?

You can check your phones eSIM compatibility on http://mintmobile.com/esim. Please not the device must be unlocked.

What is an eSIM and how do I get one?

If you are new to Mint, and have an unlocked, eligible device you can choose eSIM at time of purchase.

How much data do I get in my plan?

When you hit your data limit, we don’t cut you off, we just slow it down. If you need more data, then you can do a one-time data purchase in your account. Or if you find you are hitting the limit each month, simply upgrade your plan to the next data level at any time.

I need more 5G • 4G LTE data each month, can I change my plan?

Yep. You can upgrade your 5G • 4G LTE data size mid-cycle by paying the difference between your current plan and the upgraded plan. You are also able to set the change to occur when your current plan ends. You cannot switch down data mid-cycle, though.

My service is not working, how can I resolve?

True story: the most common fix for issues with data connection, text messages and domestic and international calling is simply turning your phone off and then back on.

You can also try removing and reinserting your Mint Mobile SIM Card. This essentially re-registers your phone in the mobile network. This will help you with problems related to data connection, text messages and domestic and international calling.

If you continue to experience issues, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.

How do I set up my voicemail?

On iPhones: Your voicemails won’t immediately appear in your Visual Voicemail screen, even if you currently have messages in your inbox. They will appear once you get a new message, so we recommend you leave yourself a voicemail message after updating your Carrier Settings. Tell yourself how stoked you are about your new savings!

On Androids: To access your voicemail, press and hold the number 1 on your phone’s keypad, or dial 805-637-7456. To reset your voicemail password, type #PWD# on your keypad and hit “Send.” To record a greeting that doesn’t make you want to cringe, you’re on your own. Certain Android users can leverage native visual voicemail on their device.

For non-native-VVM Android devices, we recommend you download a third-party app.

If you have any questions our team of customer care humans can help you out.
