Сюжет

@Shawn Mercado So she screamed a blast of microwave radiation at the two, actually that does make sense for the bubbling and popping. So was it the same thing, when she walked down the hallway and popped those soldiers with a scream?

Some sort of radiation blast from her face/eyes. It is weird that she never uses it again and they never talk about it.

Not all soldiers were disintegrated as evidenced by the two she first killed. Maybe her scream works like a pineapple grenade. If the blast doesn’t kill you, the shrapnel (the vibrations) will.

To be far, they just took the Child with no context and then attacked mother. That’s kinda strange.

I like the little detail of how fast Marcus reacts to hearing a Necromancer (and how fast he ran away) considering his past. Obviously not an instinct Mithriac would have developed even knowing what they sound like and how dangerous they are.

The point is that as a former atheist child soldier Caleb has combat experience against necromancers, while the Mithraic forces do not.

@nfaguade Yes. That’s the real world. This is a fictional universe that is presumably set in the next century.
That radiation blast Mother can shoot, seems extremely lethal and also quite portable. I don’t see why they couldn’t try and apply it to handheld devices: a radiation beam than one-shots people, no matter where you hit them, seems much more powerful than an ordinary bullet.

@Shaggy Goatboy Very few thing can beat a simple kinetic weapon. Currently we have warheads, but most conflicts are still fought with «primitive» (by comparison) rifles.

Sorry, but that doesn’t make any sense.
The Mithriacs might have followed instructions but they STILL built the Necromancers from scratch: it’s not like they already had all the components ready, and they just stuck them together.
They had to figure out every single component from the ground up: bioengineering, gravitational manipulation, radiation, neural pathways etc. You can’t possibly create something as advanced as a Necromancers WITHOUT having a grasp of its technology.
In fact, you can tell Mithriacs have clearly gained tremendous technological advancement from their book: they have spaceships with their own gravity, FTL travel, advanced nanochips, and even preserved human embryos.
You’re telling me they can build ALL that? But not improve on their guns?
