Hi, folks. Pretty newb to the whole networking of Kodi thang, but a bud helped me set-up stuff so I could route my external HDs through my desktop (Win 7), and access them via my android devices, but everything went to poot last eve. I’ve two android boxes and one tablet, and now none of them will connect to said PC. They all seem to see it fine, but can’t access anything from it. It’s all set to non-password, read-write ok, and it was working grand until just yesterday. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this. Cheers.

Edit: I’ve likely left out somethings that might help anyone help me with this, so just remind me if you can.

First, what version of Kodi do you have installed?

Second, without a Debug log (wiki) it’s going to be hard for anyone to determine what’s wrong.

My apologies for not mentioning what I was running on the android devices, but both Kodi 16.1 and SPMC 16.5.5 on all devices. Neither would connect on any device, but my IT guy chimed in eventually and had me try this, and everything is working fine. At least for now. Har!

Meant to come back and post this last night but sleep caught the best of me first. Thanks for responding, folks.

All any log has shown, and I’m a long way from being able to read one, but all I saw was the same thing presented in Kodi when I tried to access WORKGROUP via SMB, Connection Timed Out.

If you want a debug log, sure you do!, I’ll install Kodi on it again and get it for you.

That’s common issue with SMB, I had the same issue before and had to fix it on my network side, can’t remember what I had to do though. You should be able to manually add the share, just add it as

smb://MyBookLive/your_share_folder or smb://ip_address/your_share_folder

I can’t remember if the MyBook NASs include it, since mines boxed up, ( or they removed it like they did with MyCloud NASs), but if you can I would suggest using NFS over SMB.

Yes the second fix works for all Android devices:

All good WORK AROUNDS. Yes I did end up using NFS but I still can’t smb into a zbox I have sharing a movie folder. Like I say Jarvis did, Krypton don’t. Seems like if it worked on one it should still work on the other since no changes have been made to my shared folders, network or nuttin’ else but a Kodi update.

So I just keep using whatever will work.

Also just remembered I saw another work around involving advancedsettings.xml and path substitution?

Well, I did try it with RC4 and can say that I get a WORKGROUP connection time out, so there is probably some issue with populating the workgroup in Krypton. I know that there have been others that have reported issues with SMB.

But for your zbox, you should still be able to manually add it, that part is still working for me. Just select Videos/ Files/Add videos, then Browse, select Add network location, Protocol = SMB, Server name = ipaddress of your zbox, then Share folder = your_share_folder_name. If there’s no username or password just leave blank.

Once you click Ok, then it should show up in your share path list and you can add it.

Kodi 19 не работает LAN (smb)

На новой версии Kodi 19 и выше не работает доступ к папкам расшаренным на компе, по протоколу smb

Решение проблемы:
в настройках служб выбираем 1 версию протокола
Далее вовремя подключение к папки я задало логин и пароль «1»

Здравствуйте. Имеются два роутера d-link и asus. Изначально интернет подключен кабелем в d-link.

Не работает LAN
Есть 2 роутера: Asus DSL-N10 B1 и Zyxel P660HTW2 EE и 2 компьютера. 1 компьютер стабильно работает.

После обновления Kodi до версии 19 (Matrix) андроид плеер (Xiaomi Mi Box TV3) перестал видеть сетевые папки по SMB (комп с Windows XP (до обновления всё работало, Kodi видел сетевые диски на компе)). Сейчас захожу в раздел Видео — Файлы — Добавить Видео — SMB : и там пусто, добавлять нечего.
В Настройках — Службы — Клиент SMB: указал минимальную версию 1.

К сожалению, не помогло(((

Прошу помочь: как сделать так, чтоб Kodi видел снова расшаренные файлы на компе под Windows XP?

Пробовал смотреть сетевые файлы через плеер VLC. VLC видит комп и сетевые папки, но тормозит при открытии папок радикально, папки может открывать по 10 — 20 минут. Но, главное, сеть работает, VLC видит папки компа.

How to connect to our SAMBA network from KODI 19

With the release of KODI 19 several problems have arisen and some users have chosen to go back and continue with version 18, but for those who want to jump to 19 and use SAMBA we will explain how to configure it.

With the version change to KODI 19 the use of SAMBA networks has been modified to make these connections more secure, something that especially in its Android version implies the need to configure them differently if we had them without password use or in outdated versions. We can go back to using this widespread file sharing system in a simple way by following a few simple steps explained below.

CONFIGURE WINDOWS FOR SAMBA IN KODI 19

The first thing we are going to do is to configure our Windows system so that we can access from KODI to the local files of our PC, it is only necessary to follow some simple indications.

First we are going to create a local user in Windows
Press the Windows + R keys to launch the Run window.
– Execute the command “netplwiz“.
– In the User Accounts menu, click on “Add“.
The User Account creation window will appear:
– Click on “Sign in without Microsoft account“.
– Click on “Local account“.
In the Add a user menu we fill in the data of the account to be created, for example:
– Username “kodi”
– Password “abc” (cannot be left blank)
– Start password “a”.
– Click Next and then OK
In the User accounts menu we can already see the new user created, click OK and close.

CONNECT KODI 19 WITH OUR PC BY SAMBA

To connect KODI 19 via SAMBA network as the most effective method we need to use the IP of the PC where we have the local files, configuring the system is very simple and does not vary almost from the normal process.

Before configuring KODI we need to know the IP of our server PC.
Press the Windows + R keys to launch the Run window.
– Run the “cmd” command
– Type the command “ipconfig” and press enter.
– The IP address will be shown and we write it down, normally 192.168.0.XX.
Run KODI and configure the access to our SAMBA network.
– Inside KODI go to Videos > Files > Add Videos
– Click on Browse > Add Network Location
We fill in the data with the IP of our PC and the user data created earlier
– Server name = 192.168.0.XX (the IP of our PC)
– Username = kodi
– Password = abc
– Click OK
Select the new SAMBA connection created and click OK > OK > OK in the menus.
We will have already created within Videos > Media Source our SAMBA connection.
Keep pressed a button in the folder that interests us and add it to Favorites to go directly by that category.
