Apple Ending One to One Group Training as of Dec. 17th
Apple announced earlier this year it was phasing out One to One personal training memberships, and as a part of that service’s ending, the company has announced an end to Group Training as of December 17.
Hah-Ha! But seriously, we WILL have to stop meeting like this. Cupertino’s orders…
According to Apple, One to One Group Training will be removed as a service option on Dec. 17, the same day a simplified reservation webpage is expected to launch. AppleInsider reader Daniel noticed the scheduled change on his One to One membership landing page on Monday.
Apple is urging users to download any stored notes they have in the system before the 17th. Members can do so by clicking the “View Profile” link, and selecting “Email Your Notes.”
The One to One training program debuted in 2009, and was a $99 annual membership designed to help customers setup and use their Mac and iOS hardware and software. Program members could attend personal or group sessions at Apple retail stores.
Apple is putting an end to the program in favor of themed group workshops that help Apple users make better use of their Apple computers and devices, as well as associated apps. The free workshops are available to all, and include categories such as Discover, Create, Organize, Accessibility and Business.

Apple’s $99 ‘One to One’ Tutoring Program May Be Coming to an End
Apple may soon end its $99 «One to One» tutoring program for Mac and iOS users, according to a source that has provided MacRumors with reliable information in the past. Our source says Apple is stopping the program to allow retail employees to focus on hosting a greater number of free workshops, which multiple people are able to attend at once.
One to One is a long-running Apple program that allows customers who purchase a Mac to pay an additional $99 for one year of Mac, iPhone, and iPad instruction from Apple retail employees. One to One sessions include 30 or 60 minute Personal Training sessions, 90-minute Group Training sessions, and 90-minute group-based Open Training sessions.
One to One members can get help with a wide variety of topics, like getting started with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and using Apple services like iCloud, and iTunes. Training sessions on Apple apps, including Photos, Mail, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and more, are also included.
One to One will help you do more than you ever thought possible with your Mac. First, we’ll set up your email, transfer your photos, music, and other files, and show you how to keep everything in sync with iCloud. Then, we’ll work with you to create a curriculum tailored to your goals, learning style, and experience level.
Apple is planning to fold its One to One service into free open workshops, amid some larger changes being made to Apple’s teaching methods. In the near future, workshops will be restructured around themes like «Discover» and «Create,» and will be more accessible on Apple’s main website.
Apple plans to honor existing One to One memberships until they expire, but will not sell new memberships to the program going forward. Customers who need assistance will still be able to sign up for dozens of free, open workshops.

After phasing out One to One personal training memberships earlier this year, Apple is slowly winding down services for existing members, recently announcing an end to Group Training and reservation page tweaks.
According to Apple, One to One Group Training will be removed as a service option on Dec. 17, the same day a simplified reservation webpage is expected to launch. AppleInsider reader Daniel noticed the scheduled change on his One to One membership landing page on Monday.
It appears the new reservations system might affect stored notes, as Apple urges users to download said data before the 17th. Members can do so by clicking on the View Profile link and selecting «Email your notes.»
One to One was introduced in 2009 as a $99 annual membership service designed to help customers set up and use Mac and iOS hardware and software. Members were able to attend personal or group sessions, including popular Personal Setup training for new users, at brick-and-mortar Apple Stores.
Apple killed off One to One in September in favor of themed Workshops that help users take full advantage of Apple’s products. Current training categories include Discover, Create, Organize, Accessibility and Business.
Most recently, Apple announced specialized Workshops for 2015’s Hour of Code, offering kids hour-long introductions to computer coding at select Apple Stores. The first sessions ran today and are scheduled to wrap up on Dec. 12.

No. One to Ohe started in 2007. Further, Personal Setup isn’t, and hasn’t even been, tied to the One to One program. Finally, One toOne members gave up to a year left on their lessons.
pacificfilm
well I have three friends, two not very computer savvy, who all bought one to one and two got personal setup within that program. the other launched into Motion. Maybe it varies from store to store, state to state, but your emphatic «no» is a bit off.
latifbp
Personal setup might have been bundled initially but has now long been available to any new customer who purchases an Apple device.
jffdx
The «no » wasn’t emphatic. Just a fact. «Personal setup» is a free service apple offers with all iPhones iPads and Macs. One to one members certainly used sessions for help setting up and for everything else related to apple products.
The he other point that got list in typos or auto correct is that One to One members with existing memberships aren’t being cut off til this time next year.
charlituna
Sounds like folks are getting confused here. There are actually two «Personal Setup» going on. Confusion between the two is Apple’s fault for using the same terms for both. One is the free 5-15 minute, gang around a table thing that you can do when you buy new stuff. The other is the data migration that came with the One to One package that involved you leaving two machines etc. Dumb ass move on Apple’s part to label that «Personal Setup» on their paper work. Also, no One to One isn’t ending on Dec 17. That’s just the last day that anyone with an unclaimed activation code can claim it and start sessions or renew if your expiration was on or before Dec 17th. Sessions for those with active accounts will continue through next year until the memberships drop off.

Report: Apple to End $99 ‘One to One’ Training Program
A report from Monday claims Apple may soon put an end to its $99 “One to One” tutoring program for users of Apple computers and devices.
… according to a source that has provided MacRumors with reliable information in the past. Our source says Apple is stopping the program to allow retail employees to focus on hosting a greater number of free workshops, which multiple people are able to attend at once.
One to One offers customers who purchase a Mac the opportunity to pay an additional $99 for one year of one-on-one Mac, iPhone, and iPad instruction from Apple retail employees. Training can take the form of 30 or 60 minute Personal Training sessions, 90-minute Group Training sessions, or 90-minute group-based Open Training sessions.
Topics for One to One training include getting started with your device, as well as training on iCloud and iTunes, as well as Apple apps such as Photos, iMovie, Mail, and more.
The report says Apple will fold the service into free open workshops, which will be structured around themes such as “Discover,” “Create,” and “Organize.” A recent report noted that Apple will be integrating their appointment scheduling services for in-store workshops and the Genius Bar into its main website.
Apple will honor all existing One to One memberships until they expire, but will not be selling new memberships going forward.
