We are launching brand spanking fresh. All new features. New team members. New everything and we have made sure that everything that we are releasing has been polished to our best.

A lot went into this version of Paranoid Android, specially on the CAF side (OnePlus / Non-nexus devices). We ship with custom in-house kernels tweaked to provide the best power-battery combo, new functionalities and designs for hardware-specific options like the alert slider and advanced controls just for OnePlus devices — so feel pretty.

The main features and enhancements that you will probably end up noticing are our custom Quick Settings tile reordering functionality, floating window support, immersive mode, the new on-the-spot interface and CM Theme Engine. There’s much more to come, so sit tight!

As we’re getting back into the thread game, keeping up with threads and updating them as per changelogs can be too hectic given our schedule. However, very detailed changelogs always go up on our Google+ page, follow us for constant updates!

We highly recommend you to follow these instructions very carefully. Users usually tend to skip a few steps and eventually fall in trouble. Are you with me? Good. Let’s get this train going.

Just a few things to keep in mind first —
If you’re coming from another ROM / Stock, your system data (not internal storage) will have to be wiped. This includes apps, accounts, messages, call logs etc.
There’s been some users complaining about different GAPPS variants messing up installs and causing a ton of issues. Upon investigating it seems OpenGapps Mini/Nano and Banks GAPPS work best.
Understand that Paranoid Android is a custom ROM and it might lead to addiction as it’s relatively good. We shouldn’t be accused of anything just incase your cat starts drinking wine. Things get a little woozy in the Paranoid World.
Some brain might be involved if things go wrong. Not a lot though, as much to solve what’s 1+1.
Okay let’s get to the main bit —
Once you have all the required files — boot into recovery and wipe the bananas out of your device. Get into the wipe menu and wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache (basically everything except Internal Storage).
Once wiped, get into the «Install from zip» menu and select the ROM zip. (pa_bacon_6.x. ). Once added to the install queue, TWRP will ask you if you want to add more zips into the queue — Click on «add more zips» and select the GAPPS package.
Swipe the bar on the bottom to flash/install zips. Once both zips are done installing — Reboot into system and set-up your device, do not do anything else.
Once you’re done setting up your device — well that’s when you’re done. One thing though — Make sure you DO NOT INSTALL any other zip in the same queue as the ROM & GAPPS. Meaning, do not flash anything like a kernel or a root package while installing the ROM. We recommend you do that AFTER you’re done setting up your device.

If you were already encrypted, it asks for a password (pattern or pin), provide and if it goes
through, great!
If you’re stuck, ONLY then read on…
a. If in case TWRP doesn’t accept your password and says ‘Can’t Mount Storage’, you will
have to use FASTBOOT from a PC to go further from here.
b. Assuming you have FASTBOOT working and it recognizes your device, the following need
to be done:
1. fastboot format userdata
2. fastboot format cache
3. fastboot format system
4. fastboot erase recovery
5. fastboot erase boot
6. fastboot reboot
7. fastboot flash recovery
13. Reboot phone into Recovery
14. In TWRP, Wipe – Format Data (Use Make f2fs).
15.Flash AOSPA zip
16. Flash Gapps zip
17.. Flash SuperSu (optional)***
18. Reboot System

Works fine here, maybe you flashed incompatible gapps?

I am on CM13. and my phone is encrypted. I successfully flashed PA 7.3.1 but upon reboot, android would not start as it asked for the encryption password. I entered it correctly but it gave me an error saying that «the password is correct but the data is corrupt and I need to do a factory reset».

Went back to TWRP and restored my backup. Any thoughts how to get past this?

Paranoid Android releases Android 10 custom ROMs for some ASUS, OnePlus, and Xiaomi phones

LineageOS may be the most popular custom ROM out there, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t also other popular aftermarket builds. Custom ROMs like Pixel Experience, OmniROM, Resurrection Remix, and Paranoid Android also have a large number of fans. Each of these custom ROMs offer their own take on what the Android experience should be like. Paranoid Android was known for its style and innovative features back in the day, and even if they aren’t as large as they used to be after their original members were scouted by Nextbit (and later Razer), their remaining team members are still releasing new builds from time to time. After releasing a few beta builds based on Android 10 back in October, the Paranoid Android team has now announced the first stable releases for a handful of devices including the Essential Phone and a few others from ASUS, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.

Over on the team’s blog, they announced Paranoid Android Quartz 1, the first Android 10 stable build available now on our forums for several devices. This is also the team’s first stable release since their Android Nougat-based builds. For this initial stable release, the team has added the following features:

Paranoid Android Quartz 1 Feature List

  • Included GAPPS inside the zips.
  • April 2020 Security Patch Level.
  • OTA support (with deltas).
  • Adaptive Playback.
  • Screen stabilization (Gimbal mode).
  • SafetyNet (most devices).
  • Built-in screen recorder.
  • FOD support (Fingerprint On Display).
  • Pulse notifications.
  • ParanoidDoze: extended AOD support
  • Off-screen gestures.
  • Gestures support.
  • Vibration adapted UI.
  • Extended vibration system (OnePlus devices).
  • Alert Slider UI (OnePlus devices).
  • OTS: On The Spot, introduce user hint prompt system, uses a snackbar design to prompt the user for changes.
  • Pocket Mode, introduces a mode that will detect whenever your device is on the pocket and prevent it from waking.
  • Fast Charging indicator (includes OnePlus devices).
  • Quick Settings Pull Down with one finger.
  • Extended Restart.
  • Introduced Settings reset for PA features under Settings → System → Reset Options.
  • Double tap to sleep on keyguard (lockscreen) and launcher.
  • Volume Long Press to Skip Tracks.
  • Volume panel on left for devices with left volume buttons.
  • Adjusted statusbar notifications per device.
  • Navigation bar customization.
  • Improved lockscreen security
  • Caffeine tile (thanks LineageOS).
  • Extended screenshot support (thanks Pixel Experience).
  • Per-app cellular data, vpn and wifi restrictions.
  • Three finger swipe down for screenshots.
  • Pop-Up camera support.
  • Based off CAF LA.UM.8.2.r1-04200-sdm660.0 tag.

The wallpapers were designed by Hampus Olsson, who is also the wallpaper designer for OnePlus. He has released the wallpapers for everyone to enjoy in his Abstruct app.
