Right button mouse android
When using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard, android has some «interesting» defaults for the right click wheel button’s. When you right click, it sends the exit command, so you exit out of steam link.
According to our friends at SO, this is a kernel configuration, so we can only change it ourselves if we have a rooted device, or if Valve overrides these defaults in the steam link app.
+1. Same problem here.
Edit: Turns out this might be an issue specific to Samsung devices.
I’ve got a galaxy tab s6, and the workaround for me is to enable DeX which forces the right mouse button to behave normally in android.
Now if only the trackpad on the official s6 keyboard cover would work.
Right mouse button works in game, for example in Skyrim on Samsung A5 2017.
I’ve just used a Logitech M590 bluetooth mouse on a Samsung A5 2017 with android 8.0 and right click does go back in Steam Link and normal android interface, BUT once in game, likeinside Skyrim it doesn’t do back 🙂 IT WORKS . It just jumps, i bind jump to mouse right click , from quake 2/CS 1.6 days 🙂
Only problem middle mouse button which i always bind to »use» function now exits even game and goes to home screen as android treats middle button as home button, even triggers camera if double clicking middle mouse button. :(((
At least the mouse works normally as in looking around and doesn’t have any weird end of screen nonsense like PUBG on android like the actual game which you have to hold down left click to drag to look around LOL

Right button mouse android
Hello. There are problems with the gameplay on the smartphone when using the mouse:
Left mouse button — works fine.
Right mouse button, a little more about it:
I follow every update of Steam Link for android. When version 1.1.57 came out, the right mouse button worked properly, namely:
On the PC desktop, pressing the Right Mouse Key brought up the Context Menu as it should.
In games, played the role of the function assigned to this button.
What kind of problems is now in the version: 1.1.64:
The right mouse button does not work at all when interacting with a PC and games running on it.
When you press the Right mouse button — the system’s “Back Button” is activated in the smartphone, that is, Steam Link simply closes.
The same thing with the Click on the Wheel. The Home button works and Steam Link closes.
I am using Samsung Galaxy M30 with android 10.

I have an Iconia A500, running with Jelly Bean / rooted, Cyanogenmod 4.1.2 from Randomblame.
So far so good. As most of you know, this device supports bluetooth mice and USB mice. I am using both kinds of mice quite often for working in office tools or for the good old ScummVM games.
Now to my question. Every mouse I use only has the left click function. Right click does the same as left click. Is there a possibility to configure the right button? In Office I would like to get the «long press» instead, in the ScummVM Games I would like to get the «default action», wich is highlighted on touch.
I dont mind if I can configure directly in Android or if I have to use an app. I would be glad for any idea which could help.

thank You already. For my Iconia it’s the same. Just plug in the USB Adapter or connect the Bluetooth device and it’s running with this black arrow. But theoretically it should be possible to get different actions by different buttons. The mice are sending the signals for right and left button (Windows PC detects it). Only Android is just configured to understand them all as «left» (In previous Android Versions the right button often was configured to «back»).
What I need is something, which defines my right button as long press or something else — similar to the Logitech Setpoint software for PC (There you also can set shortcuts, Keyboard Combinations or whatever for nearly every button). I am sure, I am not the first one thinking about this, so isn’t there any app/driver/trick to get this working?

Right button mouse android
Does B button on controller act like ESC key, too?
Dpad on controller works but no joystick?
Seems like your controller is in some kind of lizard mode for android controllers gamepad emulation which causes mice to function like an android mouse and not a windows mouse. I.e. unexpected behaviour when clicking mouse buttons
Try this when you see what is described in op:
- Exit Steam Link App.
- On host pc restart steam and make sure you are running Steam client beta and that Steam is running in large mode and is not minimised.
- Start Steam Link App and go to streamer advanced client settings and enable «start in desktop»
- Start Playing.
Steam Input should now be detecting controller much better and everything just works like expected and as if you were on local steam machine.
Once Big Picture gets launched from Steam Link App using a controller your mouse should work exactly as if it were connected to windows.
Hope that helps.

Could you detail what phone you’re using / what mouse?
This is my point. Steam Link App, Steam Input, Steam apps and Steam clent are all optimised for controllers.
Use a different streamer app like remoter or team viewer to access your host pc without a controller, these apps have much better optimisation for touch controls in windows which will help you out.
Also add a shortcut too task bar for windows osk, which let you have access too a working keyboard in windows.
😁
But if you no have controller then you can not use controller.
Have you tried unplugging and replugging in mouse or mouse dongle after big picture has started?
Or doing this after restarting steam from host pc?
Virtualhere can be used to help you out, which will let your mouse behave like expected in windows desktop . Set your phone up as virtualhere server and host pc as virtualhere client.
Or instead of all that, just invest in the best controller that you can afford. A fifteen dollar controller will work better for you with Steam Link App. I recommend Shield Controller due to how awesomely well Steam Link App supports them.

I don’t know what idiot made the decision to make the right trackpad button to work as «back» but he needs to be fired from his job. The transformer already has atleast 2 back buttons, and probably a few shortcuts for back that I don’t know about. Why make the right mouse button also «back»?
The transformer would be a full laptop replacement, if I had a right mouse button like every other computer I’ve ever owned in my entire life. Do I need to write a letter to my congressman or something to make this happen? Hell, I’d be willing to learn to solder and rewire the keyboard just to make it work (not really, once I learn to solder I’ll be moding my electric motorcycle, but that’s not the point). Honestly, if someone makes an app to fix this, I will buy it, then send a nice letter to google/asus telling them to offer that person a job for being smarter than one of their current employees.

Don’t know if its possible to change that. Kinda unfortunate

Could you exagerate or be any more of an asshole at all? Merely because you do not understand why it was made as a back button instead of *whatever you want it to be* does not give you the right to sit there and type a two paragraph rant about how ASUS is full of idiots. Talk about self-entitlement and impatiance.
It does not function as a «right click» (I don’t know how the hell it could) because Android doesn’t have a right click. It simply doesn’t exist. A longpress is a lot different from a right click, and it isn’t possibly/trivial to just map the right click button to be a long press.

hmm. I wonder if it would be possible for 2x or other RDP/vnc clients to «capture» the right-click on the pad and send it as a right-mouse button to windows/linux/etc that actually does make use.
That would be nice rather than me hunting for where the options in windows are without right-click..

Personally, I like the right button being back button! In Andoid, you use the back button alot. If using the trackpad, it makes perfect sense to have teh right button be a back button — otherwise you’d be reaching up all of the time to press the on-screen or on-keyboard back button.
At least that my opinon! Same if using an external mouse. I use the right button constantly.

Far more configurations would be great here.
Under the keyboard/input settings where the mouse control is, and the keyboard ‘do I want auto capitalisation’, having an advanced button that takes you to;
Top Row AndroidControl|Function Keys
Back Button Back|Escape
Right Mouse Back|RightHold
And allow you to select the functionality/remap, without having to mess about with root, would be /really/ useful. We can change the cursor to a pointer/gestures, but can’t remap the right click?
And as an aside, I can’t find through googling, but does anyone know what the 1 and 6 numbers are highlighted?

Long answer: Seeing how the Transformer is the only tablet with a keyboard dock that has a trackpad, the answer is no. Issue is too small for Google to address it and it would only effect 1 device. Asus probably won’t do it either since they didn’t intend for the Transformer to run different OS’s, such as Ubuntu where a right click would be necessary.
Simple and sweet answer: No, if you don’t like it, buy a laptop
EDIT: After reading your original post again, you’re the idiot. Why would a touch screen operation system need a right click? Android’s right click is the long press. Asus decided to make a nice keyboard dock but like I said earlier, it was made for Android, not Ubuntu/Windows/etc.

Very Nice! Thanks for pointing out Remote RDP lite. I also manually typed in a resolution of 1280×753 and it fits the transformer screen perfectly.
In addition to using the right-click as a right-click on the windows RDP, it also tracks your mouse cursor as you move it, not just when you click, so mouse-overs Work. Very Nice!

The Transformer isn’t every other computer now is it? Stop looking at it as a laptop replacement, that’s not what it’s meant for. Tablets are extensions of your phone.
Yes it’s called the Transformer because of the dock, but it transforms into an ANDROID laptop, not another OS. You really think Asus is gonna spend time hardcoding a right click into a OS that is pretty much based around the long press?
Having a right click button doesn’t make Android any more competitive than it already is. You really think someone is going to say «Oh this has a right click but that has a nice flashly OS and it’s made by Apple. » If you really think a right click is going to be a deciding factor for purchasing a tablet, you are just .

Watch as apple comes out with a dock for their tablet saying «It’s magic!! When I plug in the dock it becomes a computer complete with right mouse button support.»
You show me a tablet with dock that will function just like a netbook/laptop and doesn’t have Windows or Apple on it, and I’ll definitely give it a try. If it works well, I’ll buy it.
The transformer is the number one selling Android tablet right now, and I’m pretty sure it’s not because of the tablet. It’s probably because of the full keyboard with track pad. I take that as a pretty clear sign that people are expecting more than just an extension of their phone. They are looking for a tablet that can do more.
Tablet’s are now competing with netbooks, and soon with laptops. There are plenty of threads here about people wanting to use their transformer for school, business, and work. To do these things require functionality. Functionality requires input options that are easy to use. Currently, for anything other movies, music and games, the transformer is a bit of a pain to use. Even browsing the internet isn’t that great. Sure it can do these things, but not gracefully.
Google needs to step up their game. If they didn’t plan to compete with laptops/netbooks, then I’m wrong. But I have a feeling this Android thing is going to go way past phones and extensions of phones, and Google was planning that. These recent updates of adding support for multiple SD cards and screen scaling after the hardware comes out is crap. Think ahead Goggle, and build your OS for the hardware that will come out next year, not what was released last month.
Don’t defend Google because it’s difficult to change their software. Challenge them to make the difficult changes now, so that when we buy new hardware next year, we don’t have to wait for updates to make it functional and user friendly.
