G Burst Re-release
On 8th January 2014, Marvelous held a livestream on Niconico where they announced a major update to New Wave in the form of Senran Kagura: New Wave G Burst. This update featured an updated UI, changes to certain mechanics, the removal of Normal+, Rare+ and Super Rare+ cards, a brand new rarity called Legend Rare, sixteen additional characters.
Story
The player assumes the role of a ninja instructor whose job is to train and help fellow shinobi with any situation they happen to come across.
Introduction
The game starts off with a brief introduction into the world of shinobi and a tutorial for the player to get acquainted with the mechanics of the game. During the tutorial, the player will receive a starter deck of one the Hanzō shinobi, Chihaya, Kisaragi, and two Ikaruga cards. Once the tutorial is complete, the player will be able to do as they please. Despite this, however, beginners are strongly encouraged to try the story mode of the game.
Gameplay
The game works by collecting cards and creating a deck. The player is allowed to put up to 5 cards in their deck, however, the overall power of the deck is limited but increases as the player levels up by completing missions, battling other players, adding people to your friends list, and by joining a team.
Each card has a given rarity. The higher the rarity of the card the harder it is to obtain and the more powerful the card will be. The rarity of the cards are divided into five categories: Normal, Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, and Legendary Rare.
The cards are also given a color. These colors are red, blue, and yellow. The red cards are referred to as Yang (Light) cards and tend to focus on defense, the blue cards are referred to as Yin (Dark) cards and focus on offense, and the yellow cards are referred to as Sen (Flash) cards and focus on HP.
Story Missions
In story missions the leader of the party is used to fight waves of enemies until a certain progression is reached. As you fight enemies, items and cards will randomly drop. There are four different cards obtainable in each mission.
Once you reach the required progression you can then choose to start the next mission or replay the same mission to collect cards that did not drop. As you progress through the level your stamina meter will decrease (a yellow bar), when it reaches zero you will no longer be able to progress. In order to replenish your stamina you will have to either wait an hour or use sushi which are given as log in bonuses or can be bought.
Once you have completed 3 missions you will have a boss battle, which is similar to a normal battle however only the lead card is used in the battle.
The outcome of the battle will depend on the power of your leader card this includes its rarity and level.
Once you defeat the boss you will move to another stage which will have more difficult enemies and a more difficult boss. This trend will keep continuing as you complete each stage.
If the player collects all the cards in a level they will be rewarded with training points and silver gacha tickets, but if the player clears a chapter with one hundred percent completion they will be rewarded a Rare card.
Card Battles
Card battles involve your deck facing another deck. On the battle page your current level, deck power and number of wins is displayed at the top. The number of battle points (BP) you currently have can also be seen. Below this you are given a list of 5 decks which you can choose to face. Their stats will also be shown. If you do not wish to face any of these 5 then there is a button at the top of the page that will refresh your results.
Once you select the deck you wish to battle and you will be given another screen to confirm your choice. If one or more of your cards has reached limit break you will be given another option below to use it, this will result in a stat change to your deck or the opposing deck in your favor.
The battle is performed automatically. The player can skip the sequence by pressing or clicking the screen. The outcome in basic terms is determined by the power of your deck, the number of cards in your deck, the rarity of the cards. Each time you do a battle you will use up battle points (BP). You are given are allowed a maximum of 3 at one time, you will use one point per battle. When you use up your 3 battle points you will either have to wait a certain amount of time in order to regain a single battle point or use milk bottles and milk cartons, which are given as log in bonuses or can be bought.
Weekly Events
New Wave G Burst features three weekly event types for players to earn new cards, as well as resources to help strengthen their cards and skills.

Story Missions
Story Missions are typically broken into three chapters (ie. 3-1, 3-2, and 3-3) and each of those chapters will have three sections.
There will be an intro cutscene at the beginning of the first chapter, and then a cutscene after the completion of each chapter.
When beginning a one of the three sections of a chapter, you will see a chibi version of the character assigned as your Leader card fighting chibi versions of enemies.
There are three bars at the bottom, for your Stamina, Experience, and Progress. As your character attacks enemies, the Stamina bar will decrease as the Experience and Progress bars increase.
(NOTE: Stamina will not decrease in Story Missions until your Account reaches level 40.)
Regular enemies cannot hurt you, and are basically only there for you to spend your Stamina on to progress. The stronger your character, the faster you will defeat them without spending as much Stamina.
For each enemy your character defeats, you will receive either an Experience Scroll, or one of the four cards that can drop in that section. Obtaining all four of the different cards from a section gives you a bonus.
If you run out of Stamina, you will have to stop and wait for it to regenerate on it’s own, or use an Item to recover it.
If your Experience bar fills up, the current section will end to show you your level-up rewards.
The Progress bar for a section must be filled to unlock the next section. If you defeat ten enemies without filling it up, you will have to repeat it until you fill it.
Once all three sections have been cleared, you unlock the Boss fight for that chapter. Bosses can hurt you, but your character gets the first strike. The boss must be defeated to unlock the next Chapter of the Mission.
Before starting a section, there is a checkbox to skip the battle scenes and just give you the results.
Account Level
Your Account Level is raised by gaining Experience from battles. This is separate from an individual Card’s Level (which is raised by spending Training Points).
When your Account Level goes up, this will increase your Maximum Stamina, Maximum Friends, Maximum Deck Score.
Additionally, when leveling up your Stamina and Battle Points will be refilled.
Stamina
Stamina is what is consumed when doing missions. Your stamina will recover by 1 every minute. It is also possible to recover Stamina by using items or leveling up.
Your Maximum Stamina is increased by raising your Account Level or Global Affection Rank in Shinobi Communication.
Training Points
Training Points are consumed when training cards to level them up. Training Points can be obtained by doing missions, winning PVP battles, or selling unwanted cards.
It is possible to hold a maximum of 99,999,999 points. Points over this number will be discarded.
Cards
There are different types of cards. Cards you collect can be strengthened by training. By collecting many different cards you can increase your card capacity.
Cards over your current capacity are stored in the Prize Box for you to claim later, though the Prize Box has a maximum capacity of 999, including any other rewards you may have unlocked in there.
Your Maximum Card Capacity can also be raised by increasing your Global Affection Rank.
Leader
You can set the leader card to any of the cards currently in your main deck. When you preform missions, the shinobi depicted in the leader card will appear during the operation.
Parameters
Each card has various parameters:
- Level: Represents the current level of the card. When you level up HP, Attack, and Defense will increase.
- HP: Represents the physical health of the card. When it reaches zero the card will no longer be able to fight in the current battle.
- ATK: Represents the physical strength of the card. The amount of damage done to to the enemy increases based on how high the cards ATK is.
- DEF: Represents the physical defense of the card. The higher defense of the card, the less damage it will take from enemies.
Rarity
The rarity of the card represents how hard the card is to obtain along with how powerful it is. There are several types of card rarities: N/N+, R/R+, SR/SR+, UR/UR+, and LR.
High Rarity cards also have a higher level cap than lower rarity cards.
Deck Cost
The Cost number represents the cost required to use a card in your battle deck. It is not possible to create a deck that goes beyond your Maximum Deck Score. It should also be noted that higher rarity cards tend to have higher cost values.
Attribute
Each card has one of three attributes: Yang, Yin, and Flash. Cards will earn more EXP when trained with cards of the same attribute.
Cards may have bonuses that buff allies of specific attributes.
Limit Gauge
The Limit Gauge is required to use Limit Break in battle. Limit Break can only be used when the gauge is at MAX. The gauge resets when Limit Break has been used. Limit Break gives your cards a massive power boost in battle and can help earn victory in tough fights.
Limit Break can be used in PVP Battles and some Events.
Ninja Arts
Ninja Arts are special abilities that have a chance to be activated at the start of PVP Battles and some Events.
Ninja Arts have many effects such as increasing attack power or lowering the defense of the enemy. The probability of Ninja Arts being used in battle increases as the Ninja Art level rises.
Deck Skills
Unwanted Cards
Unwanted Cards can be sold for Training Points and other items, used to train other Cards, or combined with duplicates of the same card to increase their power.
Training
Training increases the Experience and Level of a card. As a card’s level increases, so does it’s Health, Attack, and Defense.
When Training a Card, you can either use the various Experience Scrolls or use unwanted Cards.
Rebirth
Battle
Battle is a type of PVP mode where you can pit your team against another player’s team.
It costs 1 Battle Point to participate in a Battle. You can hold a maximum of 3 Battle Points, and they regenerate over time or by the use of items.
Friends
Gacha
Prize Box
Most unlocked Rewards are not directly deposited into your inventory, and must instead be redeemed by going to the Prize Box.
The Prize Box can hold a maximum of 999 items, so don’t let it fill up!
