Delicious Apple Sour Cream Slice Recipe

W e go mad when Wendy’s Kitchen Table is in the house and that’s because she shares the best old fashioned recipes. Today we are featuring her Apple and Sour Cream Slice from scratch.

It’s another legendary recipe and you won’t want to miss it. It’s a taste sensation and will win hearts and kitchen kudos every single time.

Apple And Sour Cream Slice Ingredients

So, let’s look at what you are going to need. The first ingredients are for the base and the second is for the topping.

  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 125g (1 cup) melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Apple And Sour Cream Slice Topping

  • 400g (140z) can apple pieces or freshly stewed apple
  • 300g (10.5oz) sour cream
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon icing sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon sugar

Apple And Sour Cream Slice Instructions

Preheat oven to 180˚C (356F) /160˚C (320F) fan-forced.

Grease and line a slice tin with baking paper.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Combine the melted butter and vanilla essence in a bowl and add to dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Press the mixture evenly over the base of the tin. Cook for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Spread apple evenly over the base.

In a small bowl mix sour cream, egg yolks, icing sugar, and ground cinnamon. Spread evenly over apple and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Cook for further 20 minutes, or until sour cream has set. Cool in pan. Cut into squares to serve.

Originally posted November 4, 2010 – I recently got together with a few friends for a few hours of pie crust testing. When I took my crust home, I knew exactly what pie I wanted to make! Over the last few years, I’ve made this pie at least once or twice a year. It is my very favorite pie, and even though I love trying new recipes, this Sour Cream Apple Pie recipe is at the top of my favorites list. We are heading strong into apple season, and I think this apple pie is the perfect way to welcome in the apples!

After my Cafe Zupas post yesterday, I had to come back and re-post my favorite Apple Pie recipe!! I’ve actually been making this sour cream apple pie for years – and if you know me, you know that if I make a recipe more than once, it’s a winner! This is by far my favorite apple pie. I actually had a neighbor bring by a bag of apples from her tree, and this is the first thing that came to my mind.

Don’t be turned away by the sour cream in this recipe. It just makes the filling nice and creamy. It really is what makes this pie the best!

I’m a sucker for a crumb topping, and it’s usually the more the better for me. I’ve actually doubled the topping from the original recipe, and I think it’s the perfect amount of crumble. And don’t let the sour cream part scare you away – it definitely adds to the pie!

fridge bag №16: couscous, sour cream, apple, onion and garlic(sliced), smoked fig

freezer package №16: mix of turkey and rabbit ground meat (фарш из филе кролика и бедра индейки)

* **pot**

* **water**

* **board**

* **bowl**

* **water**

* **oil**

* **salt**

* **pepper**

Pour out couscous (кускус) and **0,25 teaspoon of salt and pepper** to pot

Add **2/3 glass (140 ml) of boiling water**

Set aside to rest for **5 minutes**

Meanwhile wash and cut apple in slices.

Heat **1 tablespoon of vegetable oil** in a large pan over **high heat**

Pour out mix of turkey and rabbit ground meat (фарш из филе кролика и бедра индейки) and **0,25 teaspoon of salt and pepper** in a bowl.

Stir well and divide in 4 equal parts

Shape 4 round patties and put them to pan

Cook for **2 minutes** on one side and turn

Add **apple slices**, onion and garlic (лук с чесноком) и **1/4 glass (45 ml) of warm water** to pan. Stir well

Turn the heat to **medium high**

Cover. Leave for **3,5 minutes**

Turn off the heat and set aside

Divide patties and apple slices between plates, add the remaining sauce to couscous. Stir well and serve.

Combine in a small bowl sour cream (cметана) and smoked fig (копченый инжир)

Pour over on plates

Adjust cooking time according to your kitchen equipment

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup (75g) self-raising flour
  2. ½ cup (75g) plain flour
  3. 2/3 cup (150g) caster sugar
  4. 2 tsp Queen Natural Vanilla Extract
  5. 1 egg
  6. 100g butter, melted
  7. ¼ cup (60ml) milk

Topping

  1. 200g sour cream
  2. 400g tinned sliced apple
  3. 1 tsp Queen Vanilla Bean Paste
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 2-3 tsp Cinnamon, for sprinkling

Method — Base

Step 1

Preheat oven to 160C (fan forced). Line a 19cm x 29cm lamington tray with baking paper.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine flours, sugar, vanilla extract, egg, butter and milk. Stir to combine. Bake for 10 minutes. The cake won’t be fully cooked at this stage.

Method — Topping

Step 1

While cake is cooking, combine sour cream, apples, vanilla paste and eggs in a bowl and stir to combine. Spoon evenly over cake mixture and return to the oven for 20-25 minutes.

Step 2

Sprinkle cinnamon over top of cooked cake and allow to cool before refrigerating for 2 hours until cold.
