Ten apple on top

Перевод Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss

I printed out an apple template and gave Little Sis red, yellow, and green tape .

Tearing the tape was a bit hard for her, so I helped tear the tape in different sizes and Little Sis covered the apple. Another option would be to have your child use scissors to cut the tape him/herself. OR, instead of tape, you could do this with pieces of torn paper.

Ten Apples Up on Top Activities: COUNTING APPLES

After reading the book , we practiced counting to ten with 10 «apples»

For a competitive twist, add a die and grab 10 more blocks for another player. Take turns rolling a die and adding that many apple blocks to a tower. First to 10, wins!

Or, work on number recognition and sequencing skills by writing numbers 1-10 with a dry erase marker on the blocks. Then your child can make a tower of ten apples on top in number order.

So, we have three animals, a lion, a tiger, and a dog, who are having a competition to see how many apples that they can balance on their heads. Well, as you can probably guess, they manage to get to ten, but they don’t seem to push it any further than that. Well, I guess it might have something to do with annoying the people around them, because all of a sudden we have a bear with a mop chasing them out of the house, and some birds who are attempting to get a free meal.

Well, this is your typical, and rather enjoyable, Dr Suess book. Yeah, it is nonsense, but he was the master of the nonsense rhyme, but not only that, but once again he shows his ability to create a beautiful poem, and one that can be appreciated by children. The rhyming is done in a way that doesn’t make it sound corny, and the meter is nothing short of perfect. In fact, I wonder whether he should be included in the list of all-time great English poets.

Actually, that makes me wonder whether I would actually get away with reading Dr Suess for poetry class in High School. I remember doing poetry back then, but for some reason, we always seem to go for the major poets like Shelly and Blake, among others. However, Dr Suess barely gets a mention, and honestly, he really should be up there among them. In fact, if you grab one of those compilations of poetry books you barely see him get a mention.

Honestly, this is another reason why I would love to go back in time and redo year 12, if only to write essays on Dr Suess poems, and of course do art as well, just so that I could push the limits by presenting a signed urinal as my final project. . more

This early reader is filled with rollicking fun, repeated rhymes and wonderful animals. It will delight the eyes and ears of little ones and tickle the tongues of early readers. My grandson pronounced it one of his favorites as he practiced his early reading skills and fluency.

Although I was a huge Dr. Seuss fan as a child, I missed Ten Apples Up on Top until my son started reading it. I probably missed it because he originally published it under his Theo LeSieg pseudonym. My son first discovered the edited board book version and the graduated to the full version in first grade. He in turn read it to his sister so now both children love it.

Ten Apples Up on Top is the story of three rollerskating friends, a lion, a dog and a tiger and their competition to see who can balance to most apples up on top. As they add more apples their rollerskating adventures become sillier and more extreme, highlighting the absurdity of balancing apples on one’s head.

What I love abut Ten Apples Up on Top is that it’s fun to read aloud but easy enough for early readers to handle by themselves. That means we can either join together on the couch for family story time or Sean or Harriet can read the book to themselves. Sometimes they even read it to me. . more

I had never read this as a child and was pleased to find it.

We first used it as an early reader, but it works great as a read-aloud for little guys too. The words are fairly easy and mainly phonetic or sight words. It’s fun and has a good rhythm as well.

This book would also work well for math — counting as apples are added and taken away, as additional people join, etc. I had never read this as a child and was pleased to find it.

This Dr. Seuss book is part of a series that’s designed to help kids to learn to read, but that also means that it’s pretty basic and doesn’t have much for an adult to take away from it. So yeah.

Expert comic escalation; lush, vivid and absolutely gorgeous midcentury modern aesthetics; and one especially perfect rhyming stanza*. 10/10 apples up on top, would read again/will have no choice but to read again, and again.

* It is:
«They will get them
if we let them.
Come! We can not
let them get them.»

Dr. Seuss never fails. This as a great counting book, but done in a silly and fun way. It introduces rhyming words and repetitive phrases. As usual, it offers amusing illustrations.

Ten apples up on top 5-6

I like this book very much as it is very simple with very nice colors. This book is teaching the children the numbers 1 to 10 in a very simple and interesting way which is very good for children who just started to learn the math concepts. This book teaches children how to challenge themselves also, when those animals are trying to put the apples on their head without giving up trying. I like also the rhythmic and the sequence of this story too such as “Apples apples up o Ten apples up on top 5-6

Learning experience:
1-I can bring apples to the classroom and let the children pick any number they like to write it down on a piece of paper and then let them pick the apples based on what they wrote on their paper for example if one child wrote 4 apples on his paper he or she can pick 4 apples and so on

2-Print a boy or a girl shape and the apples of your choice. Write the alphabetical on the apples. Cut them out and laminate the pieces. Let the children put the boy or the girl on the floor and then have them put the apples on the head in alphabetical order

About Dr. Seuss

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born 2 March 1904 in Springfield, MA. He graduated Dartmouth College in 1925, and proceeded on to Oxford University with the intent of acquiring a doctorate in literature. He graduated Dartmouth College in 1925, and proceeded on to Oxford University with the intent of acquiring a doctorate in literature. At Oxford he met Helen Palmer, who he wed in 1927. He returned from Europe in 1927, and began working for a magazine called Judge, the leading humor magazine in America at the time, submitting both cartoons and humorous articles for them. Additionally, he was submitting cartoons to Life, Vanity Fair and Liberty. In some of his works, he’d made reference to an insecticide called Flit. These references gained notice, and led to a contract to draw comic ads for Flit. This association lasted 17 years, gained him national exposure, and coined the catchphrase «Quick, Henry, the Flit!»

In 1936 on the way to a vaction in Europe, listening to the rhythm of the ship’s engines, he came up with And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, which was then promptly rejected by the first 43 publishers he showed it to. Eventually in 1937 a friend published the book for him, and it went on to at least moderate success.

During WW II, Geisel joined the army and was sent to Hollywood. Captain Geisel would write for Frank Capra’s Signal Corps Unit (for which he won the Legion of Merit) and do documentaries (he won Oscar’s for Hitler Lives and Design for Death). He also created a cartoon called Gerald McBoing-Boing which also won him an Oscar.

In May of 1954, Life published a report concerning illiteracy among school children. The report said, among other things, that children were having trouble to read because their books were boring. This inspired Geisel’s publisher, and prompted him to send Geisel a list of 400 words he felt were important, asked him to cut the list to 250 words (the publishers idea of how many words at one time a first grader could absorb), and write a book. Nine months later, Geisel, using 220 of the words given to him published The Cat in the Hat, which went on to instant success.

In 1960 Bennett Cerf bet Geisel $50 that he couldn’t write an entire book using only fifty words. The result was Green Eggs and Ham. Cerf never paid the $50 from the bet.

Helen Palmer Geisel died in 1967. Theodor Geisel married Audrey Stone Diamond in 1968. Theodor Seuss Geisel died 24 September 1991.
