Description
«A tranquil and personal journey through a magical, shifting landscape.» — IGN
The First Tree is a third-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his estranged father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in an understanding of death. Along the way, players can uncover artifacts and stories from the son’s life as he becomes intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.
Features:
• Not a «fox simulator,» but an emotional, intimate story by a one-man team with an ending you won’t soon forget.
• Featuring a gorgeous, orchestral soundtrack by acclaimed artists like Message to Bears, Lowercase Noises, and Josh Kramer.
• A short story-driven game (about 2 hours long) with some light puzzle solving, platforming, and no enemies.
What’s New

Interesting game
I haven’t gotten all the way through yet so I have yet to see the entire story but I’ll comment anyways. The controls on the fox and camera are lackluster sadly. There’s no turning animation and the camera’s axis seems to be some kind of orbit rather than a center point. I’d suggest changing this to make the game more engaging. The first ultimate fox simulator by Gluten Free Games and this game uses the same fox model so his game would be a good example to go off with what I’ve suggested. I think those minor tweaks would make the gameplay feel smoother. The story so far is quite enjoyable, but the voice acting feels a little cheesy. It can be hard to write and narrate a story without visuals but I think it would have been possible to make it slightly more down to earth. Still I’ve enjoyed this game so far and look forward to finishing.
Amazing for the team size, but frustrating gameplay and disappointing narrative
While this is a very creative game and highly impressive given the tiny design team, I did not enjoy it. Gameplay quickly became frustrating and unfulfilling — I just wanted to get to the end. Moreover, while the concept was clever, I felt it was poorly executed. It felt immature and a bit, well, cliche. Death and loss are complex subjects worthy of exploitation, but this was just one negative anecdote after another interspersed with frustrating gameplay. It felt like an exercise in angst. Having lost more than my share of loved ones throughout my life, this reminded me most of my thought process and emotions at loosing a parent when 13 — not something I would wish to subject anyone else to for hours!
That said, I want to commend the team for their work, especially given the small team size. It is a brilliant idea, and executed quite well given the resources available.
Beutiful and inspiring!
The story is engaging and frankly beautiful! The only thing I had an issue with was I got a tiny bit lost on some occasions, but I understand that was intentional so I would wander around and find where I need to go. I love how you did this! It adds character to an already jaw dropping story. The controls were a little rough but I figured it out. I also absolutely love that in the mode thingy you have little notes and stories about your adventure beginning development! This was extremely inspirational to me as I am a teen working towards game development with my family. I loved your game and even though this is one of the shortest reviews I’ve wrote, that’s because I have no more to say about this game. My simple review: simply beautiful and inspiring!

«Pepi Tree is a fantastic app that would make a great addition to your collection. It has gorgeous visuals, catchy soundtrack, adorable characters, entertaining activities and high educational value — to
put it simply, all the things you want in your children’s app» — geekswithjuniors.com
«Pepi tree has really hit our taste-buds in good kids apps. The graphics and illustrations are remarkable and fabulous, the activities are age-appropriate, fun and educative» — topbestappsforkids.com
Pepi Tree is an educational game where children explore tree-dwelling animals and their habits in a fun way.
The application has an educational background focusing on a tree as an eco-system or — using simpler words — a home for different animals. Children get to know many facts about them: what they look like, what they eat and how they get their food, where exactly they live — in the branches, on the leaves or under the ground, when they sleep and more.
Encourage your kids playing and getting friends with those lovely tree inhabitants — a little caterpillar, an owl, a spider, the squirrels, a hedgehog and a mole. Each of them lives on a separate «floor» of the tree and represents different tasks to accomplish what makes six different games.
Key Features:
— 6 different games, some with more levels inside;
— 6 original music tracks and sounds you’ll love;
— More than 20 lovely characters;
— Beautiful illustrations and animations;
— Needs no translation;
— No rules, win or lose situations;
— No third-party advertising;
— No in app purchases;
Recommended ages: 3-7
