This apple id valid

Question: Q: This Apple ID is valid but not an iCloud account.

I have an Apple ID. I can use it to sign into www.icloud.comperfectly fine. But when I try to use it to sign in under System Preferences > iCloud on my Mac 10.13.1 I get this error «This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud Account». WHY? I tried to create a new Apple ID from my Mac and I get «This mac can no longer be used to create a new Apple ID. Create a new Apple ID at appleid.apple.com».
WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT?

macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)

Is the ID you are entering your main Apple ID or are you trying to sign in using one of the aliases of your main ID (for example @iCloud.com alias)?

See the steps in this thread iCloud won’t let me sign in

When this pop up window appears

You click on create Apple ID .

Click on drop down arrows of day / month/ year and click on next , fill up your first and last name , enter the password and verify it and click on next , the id will be created on iCloud domain in a scenario when you have not crossed the limits of 3 Apple ID on a single Mac or an iOS device .

You cannot create more than 3 Apple ID on a single machine , that’s the reason your are getting the error and its guiding you go to some web server like gmail and create from appleid.apple.com

Thanks for your response. I’m still lost with this. When I try to create an Apple ID on my mac I get this:

This mac can no longer be used to create a new Apple ID. Create a new apple ID at appleid.apple.com»

Does anyone know why? Again, one would think you cloud goto appleid.apple.com and create an ID there. You know, because thats only what its for. But of course that doesn’t work, because that would make sense.

You have already created three Apple ID on this machine after that if you want to create more Apple IDs , create on other Apple product like an iOS , or a different Mac at appleid.apple.com see this Create and start using an Apple ID — Apple Support , after that the 4th or 5 th ….apple ids can be used in the starting single Mac .

Thanks for reaching out here in the Apple Support Communities. I see that you are getting an alert about your Apple ID only being valid in the Russian Store, but you are in Spain, and nothing has changed to prompt this.

I’m glad to help with this.

If I understand correctly, you have been using an Apple ID that is valid in the Russian Store with no issues for two years, but now it’s not working.

  • Have you changed anything with your location, or cellular settings, or Wi-Fi network?
  • Do you use a VPN to connect to Apple Music?
  • See that your location settings are still set correctly: Change your Apple ID country or region — Apple Support

Did I understand correctly that you advice me to change my apple ID country? Because I have not changed anything with my location, or cellular settings, or Wi-Fi network and I do not use any VPN to connect to Apple Music.

In reading over your original post, it’s not clear if you’ve been using the Russian Store while in Spain, or if the alert about using the Russian Store is in error, because your country/region is set for Spain.

Your internet location is used to determine if your physical location matches the country/region you have specified for your Apple ID.

Your physical location needs to match your billing information/Apple ID information.

  • Go to Settings > Tap your name, then tap iTunes & App Store. Tap your Apple ID, then tap View Apple ID. You might be asked to sign in. Tap Country/Region.

So you do have an account, this is a little odd. I must ask . you are signing into iCloud (in system preferences) using the same login as you do for iCloud.com?

Restart the machine and try again.

Go to www.icloud.com and sign into your account, does that work?

iCloud.com works fine.

If you have not done so already I would restart the machine and try again, but this doesn’t make much sense so a trip to the store is probably needed.

Post back after the trip, my curiosity is high 🙂

It is doing the same to me after changing my password, work on all devices but my computer, this happened recently too and I had to talk to customer support — What a waste of time.

Apr 15, 2013 1:47 PM

After I changed my password i had the same problem. Seems to be solved after the restart. Thanks 🙂

I had the same issue. I restarted my computer and tried to reset the PRAM but still now success. After restarting a second time it worked no problem.

Sep 12, 2013 11:17 AM

I’m having the same problem on my iMac running 10.7. Unofrtunately my iMac cannot run an OS that’s any newer than this. I also have an iPhone 3GS of which I’m using iCloud with no problem. I have an iCloud email address and can login to iCloud.com fine.

I’m getting this same message over and over, no matter how many times I restart my computer. I’ve reset the PRAM, repaired permissions and verified the disk. Not sure what to do 😟

I am trying to set up icloud on my windows platform, windows 8. I am receiving the same message when trying to set up iCloud — this apple id is valid but is not an iCloud account. No kidding, I’m trying to set one up. My only apple product is a very old, non supported ipod touch that I cant set up, either. I have restarted four times.

Feb 20, 2015 11:45 PM

i have also restarted multiple times and uninstalled and reinstalled icloud 3 times. same message

Apr 8, 2015 11:37 AM

It’s useless, nobody going to answer, i have same problem with iCloud and app store too, iTunes works for some reason, as many times i have try to solve login issues with apple accounts. NOTHING. I can’t understand what is wrong with apple accounts.

And yet you provide no information along with the whining. If you have the same problem it is because you are running Windows.

Question: Q: «This Apple ID is only valid for use in the Canadian Store.» — but I’m in Canada!

Thank you for your help! When I click on Country/Region it says I have to cancel my membership to change stores. I don’t want to cancel.

When I click on my payment info it says Country/Region is Canada which is correct. So I don’t know what to do!

Glad to know your iTunes Store is set correctly. Let’s continue addressing why it wont allow you to play music.

If you can’t see iCloud Music Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you still can’t see it after the restart:

Report back with any new information.

Question: Q: This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the UK iTunes Store. You will be switched to that store.

My iPhone 7 plus all of a sudden keeps asking me to sign in to my iCloud repeatedly even after I have signed in. I can no longer connect to my app store and my emails have disappeared from my mail app. When I try connect to the app store I get an error message: This apple ID is only valid for purchases in the UK store — you will be switched to that store and then nothing happens. I have tried everything possible — reset my apple ID, logged out of my apple ID on all devices and logged back in, factory reset my phone, ensured my country/region is set to UK, made sure my billing info is correct, made sure software is up to date but nothing is working. I’ve always been in the UK so I am unsure why everything stopped working so randomly. Has anyone else had this happen before? I was on the phone to apple support for over 1 hour with no luck before I got cut off so thought I would try this before I phone back.

Any help would be appreciated.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.2.2
