  2. In the Sign-In and Security section, choose Apple ID.
  3. Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID.
  4. Choose Change Apple ID.
  5. If you changed your Apple ID to a third-party email address, check your email for a verification code, then enter the code. Learn what to do if you didn’t get the email.

If you can’t change your Apple ID

If you try to change your Apple ID to an @icloud.com email address that was created within the last 30 days, you will be asked to try again later.

If you see a message that the email address you want to use isn’t available or is already in use, check that you or a family member aren’t already using that email address with a different Apple ID. If a family member is using that email address, remove it from their account then try to use it.

In some countries or regions, you can use your phone number as your Apple ID. But if your Apple ID is an email address, you can’t change it to a phone number.

I’ve having the same problem.

Nov 17, 2011 8:42 PM

At least Im not the only one. It is starting to **** me off that it wont verify. I have tried to change the password and nothing. I have sent the verification email over 10 times and most of the time have not received it. This needs to be fixed some how.

Nov 17, 2011 10:21 PM

Geeze, I don’t even get the email to verify my ID. I think I will come back tomorrow. So much for my new birthday toy.

Nov 17, 2011 10:24 PM

I got my 4s phone today but I got the same problem. I have tried 3 different email addresses all them were hard to get the verification eamils. When i got emails, they came the same messages.

Nov 17, 2011 10:59 PM

I already had an apple ID. I just wanted to change it. I did so successfully earlier in the day, and then decided to change it back. Now I get the same message you got. However, I am able to use the ID in itunes and icloud. I am just blocked from managing the account.

Nov 17, 2011 11:05 PM

Dang it, this seems to be universal. Last night I couldn’t even access the Apple ID secure portal and today I can’t verfiy my IDs. I tried 3 different accounts — gmail, hotmail, gmx .

Is this a service fault or am I missing something elementary ?

Nov 17, 2011 11:39 PM

Seems like apple is falling a part. I’m having the same problem. I know lots of people who cant upgrade their itunes due to problems. Their system at apple seems to be a mess. I wish they would actually address these problems and at least say we know and are working on it. I have a brand new ipad sitting in front of me that is a paper weight because I cant verify my account so it wont even let me load free apps. All these discussions have are person after person with the same problems and no fixes. Dont want to be an apple hater but its starting to look that way.

Nov 18, 2011 12:06 AM

I have the same problem 😟

Nov 18, 2011 12:13 AM

So do we just sit and wait ?

Nov 18, 2011 12:17 AM

I don’t know :s , actually i found this discussion they have the same problem and it seems they found the solution but , I don’t understand ;s

their message went like this » I think I figured it out. I had the same issue. I used another email address. Then it asked me to change my email address to match the new password. I said yes. Then I changed the apple id again to my gmail. Then I changed my associated email address to match the gmail. Sounds confusing but it was very quick.»

Nov 18, 2011 12:21 AM

Anytime I try to sign in with the AppleID I created it gives me the same message
