Don’t restore the backup because you are restoring exactly what you don’t want. Once you remove the unwanted message you need to create a new backup to replace the old one. If the message persists then contact the organization that manages it and ask they remove it from their managed devices list.

I can’t get a backup without the message. It’s either all or nothing, there’s no way to remove the message and the company says they’ve removed the phone. I know there are no profiles on the device. I’ve had this problem since iOS 10 and it’s still there on iOS 11.0.3

What happens if you restore the device as new?

If the above doesn t work for you, then :

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and leave

one end of the cable connected to your computer’s USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

let the device charge for at least ten minutes, and then start with step 2 again.

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the «Connect to iTunes» screen.

Question: Q: No “profiles and device management” option

I do not see a “profiles and device management” option under Settings>General so I can’t verify trust to the app. I am running iOS 12.1.4. Anyone else have this issue? Help!

No, it is my personal phone. I cannot figure out how to trust an app. It used to be trusted and worked fine, but then I had to reset my settings (in order to fix a different issue) and now cannot get the app to be trusted again.

Supervision gives schools and businesses greater control over the iOS devices they own. With supervision, your administrator can apply extra restrictions like turning off AirDrop or preventing access to the App Store. Check to see if your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is supervised

Find out what your administrator is supervising

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is supervised, it means that the organization which owns your device has the ability to install a profile to control what features your device has access to.

Tap Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management. If there is a profile installed, tap on it to see what type of changes are made. To learn more about the features changed for your specific organization, ask your administrator whether these settings are enforced.

If your administrator is monitoring your location

You might see a message in your settings that your business or school can monitor your Internet traffic and locate your device. The only time your administrator can view the location of your phone is if they put your device into Managed Lost Mode.

When this mode is turned on, it reveals the location of the device to the administrator. If your administrator puts your device into Managed Lost Mode, your device locks and you will see a message on the lock screen. Your organization can’t track the location of the device without locking it and showing a notification.

I upgraded my iPhone 6S to iOS 9.3 today and now there appears a message on my lock screen

This iPhone is managed by your organization.

Of course, I already knew that — it’s a company phone! I don’t want to see this message on my lock screen every day, how can I acknowledge the message and disable it?

Removing the management profile

Someone else mentioned how to remove the management profile from the phone. That has some potential issues:

  • Your boss may not want you to remove the profile, which may lead to undesired consequences like being fired
  • You may lose access to any resources the profile allows you to access
  • You may start sending things unprotected directly over the Internet rather than through the VPN your profile sets up for you

Why the message probably can’t be removed

As far as leaving the profile there, it’s very likely that you can’t remove the message because a lot of people are used to their personal iPhones being secure and private and they need to be informed when their privacy may be at stake because they may be being watched.

If they’re issued a work phone, they may incorrectly assume that the security and privacy are just as good as their own iPhone.

If they let an untrustworthy acquaintance use their personal iPhone, they may have no idea that it’s even possible for the acquaintance to take a few minutes to begin managing the phone and to then spy on them later.

Imagine if the boss or the untrustworthy acquaintance could just turn off the warning right after beginning to manage the phone. The user of the phone would then be kept in the dark about potential spying.

There’s no easy way for an iPhone to distinguish between a spy disabling the message and the user disabling the message, so there’s no easy way to allow for what you want while still ensuring users receive that vital information.

According to the 9-to-5-Mac Blog, the message is simply is alerting you that your iPhone has a profile installed using the MDM program. These are files inside your phone called .mobileconfig. I’ve linked above to a cached version of this blog, from Google.

These are mostly used to control which preferences and applications you have enabled by default, although there are nearly unlimited advanced uses. For example your company could easily erase or lock your phone, if desired. For readers’ future reference, you can also create your own profiles or use 3rd party profiles, not just get one from a company.

Depending on the settings of the profile you may be able to remove the profile without your company’s consent, although that might not make them happy:

Go into Settings and look at the settings for Profiles. You can remove the profile from there, if your company is not blocking you from removing profiles. This may not only make the message go away, but also modify the look and feel of your phone, as well as, remove things you need, like automatic access to company VPNs or wi-fi networks.

There may be a setting within the MDM from your company, that with their admin tools (even just a simple tweak in Profile Manager) where they can disable this message that you don’t like; I would say just ask about it. The blog above speculates that this feature has been added because soon there may be more ways implemented for companies to track employees using their managed iphones, in addition to the many already-possible ways to track people using iPhones or other cell phones, such as using GPS.

Question: Q: iphone managed by Eturi

I cant seem to completely delete Ourpact from our phones. Here are the steps I took: I deleted the apps (Ourpact and Ourpact Jr) and then removed the profile (in settings) from each phone. I then restarted the phones. The problem is that each phone still says that it is being “supervised and monitored by Eturi” and we are still not able to have full access of the phone. I have spent more than 2 hours trying to remove it…and have even tried restoring a back up and have had no luck. Please help.

No. Both of my kids phones have school email and personal email. Your question has me concerned, however. To sign up for Ourpact with premium you have to do pairings, etc from the parent phone and computer to the kids phones. I deleted everything I could see from each device when I decided to not use it but the message remains of Eturi only on the kids phones. Now I am wondering if its a bigger problem than that?

Any how, the answer to your question is no. Just school and personal.

It is the school mail accounts that are causing this, it is most likely an Exchange account and it installs the profile on the iPhone. To permanently remove it you will have to remove the school email accounts from each phone.

I will try it, but we have never had this problem of «supervised and managed by Eturi» until I downloaded and set up the Ourpact parental control app this morning on our phones (which is made by the Eturi Corp) and then tried to delete/remove it all.

No, don’t have any kids to supervise. Did you download the full app with in-app purchases or the Jr edition? I also noticed that they stated you needed to turn off any Apple restrictions that were already set up, did you do this? Also, check to see in Restrictions if the app turned off the ability for you to make changes.

I followed these steps from apple:

Delete both the app and its configuration profile

To delete an app and its configuration profile, follow these steps.

  1. Delete the App.
    • Tap and hold on the app until it jiggles.
    • Then tap in the upper-left corner of the app to delete it. If you see a message that says, «Deleting [app name] will also delete all of its data,» tap Delete.
  2. Delete the configuration profile that came with the app.
    • Go to Settings > General > Profile, tap on the app’s configuration profile.
    • Then tap Delete Profile. If asked, enter your device passcode, then tap Delete.
  3. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Reinstall the app and try it in reverse, delete the configuration profile first then the app.
