Venus with the Apple

All the gods of Classical Greek mythology were invited to a party, except for Eris, the goddess of strife. She had her revenge by throwing a golden apple with the inscription “To the fairest goddess” in among the party guests. But who the fairest of the goddesses was could not be agreed on. Therefore the choice was given to the earthly son of a king, Paris. The choice was between Juno, Minerva and Venus, and it was the latter, goddess of beauty and love, who won and received the apple.
The sculpture, realized by Bertel Thorvaldsen between 1813 and 1816, depicts Venus after the beauty contest. With one hand she grips the clothes on the tree stump to put them back on. With the other she holds the token of beauty up to her admiring gaze.

I made this statue from a free 3D model I found on the Internet. I reduced significantly the number of faces (3 000 000 to 9 900), built an UV map, normal map and textures.

The statue can be placed on large slots (so you can place it on pedestals).

Two Neoclassical Paintings

I made these two neoclassical paintings to use them in our Sims’ house 🙂

  • The Origin of Painting or Dibutades Drawing
The myth tells that the daughter of Butades, a Corinthian potter, smitten with love for a youth, drew upon the wall the outline of his shadow, and that upon this outline her father modelled a face of the youth in clay, which he baked along with the clay tiles which it was his trade to make.
Made by the French painter Jean-Baptiste Regnault in 1786, this painting is currently used as an overdoor at the Salon des Nobles, at the Palace of Versailles.
  • The Origin of Sculpture or Pygmalion in Love With His Statue
In Greek mythology Pygmalion is a legendary figure of Cyprus, who was a king and a sculptor. He is most familiar from Ovid’s narrative poem Metamorphoses, in which Pygmalion was a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he had carved and which changed to a woman under Aphrodite’s blessing.
Made by the French painter Jean-Baptiste Regnault in 1785, this painting is currently used as an overdoor at the Salon des Nobles, at the Palace of Versailles.
