How does Apple define “support incident?”

Apple defines a support incident as a specific, discrete issue that can be addressed by isolating its origin to a single cause. Apple, in its sole discretion, will determine what constitutes a support incident. A support incident has reached resolution when the customer receives one of the following:

  • Information that resolves the issue
  • Information on how to obtain a software solution that will resolve the issue
  • Notice that the issue is caused by a known, unresolved issue or an incompatibility issue with the supported product
  • Information that identifies the issue as being resolved by upgrading to a newer release of the supported product
  • Notice that the issue has been identified as a hardware equipment issue
  • Information that isolates issue to a third-party product, not supported by Apple

If your answer is marked, you will earn points. A «Helpful» mark next to your reply means that you have earned 5 points. A «Solved» mark next to your reply means that you have earned 10 points. After reaching certain milestones, your status level will increase. These are called «reputation points» because people of high levels are respected and trusted because they have helped out so many people. This is not to say that people with 0 points can’t help you, everyone has to start somewhere . If you have asked a question and someone has answered it, the best way to thank them is to award them points, which can be done by clicking on either of the buttons as pictured above. Also, by marking an answer as correct, it will let others know that the question has been answered, so that they can move on to other threads in their search.

Some users try to award points to themselves. First of all, marking your OWN reply as Helpful or Correct will not earn you any points, and is rejected by the system. It will still be marked as helpful or correct, but will not earn you any points. If someone sees the answer marked as correct, they may think the question has been answered and move on, so you may not get the help you need. Please do not mark your own reply, unless you actually did solve your own question, in which case it may help others with a similar issue find a solution. Another trick is for people to create multiple profiles and have them award points to each other. This is known as «gaming» the points system, and is a great way to get your user account(s) banned from the communities.

HI I have run a Diagnostic (Restart+D) and I get the following message after a while Apple.com/support-2002D. Could you help me to understand what does it mean ? Thanks.

The error code does not give any information online, so one may have to contact an Apple Support specialist or a retail Store genius, about possible hardware issues in that machine. A basic search yields no answers, except I’d found an unanswered inquiry on a third-party site concerning the 2002D error in a MacBook/Air last year.

•Contact Apple Support:

One place a vague reference to an Error 2002 (no D) is in regard to

•Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors:

Where this may have a basis in iTunes would be an inability of the

computer to connect to a server; this may be due to cable defect,

socket defect, or beyond hardware and go into something else.

•Resolve iOS (and Mac) update & restore errors in iTunes:

But there should be little or no reason for a Hardware Test Message

unless the matter concerns a physical connection, or misrepresented

issue posing as one, when detected by the AHT. Or old software.

So I think a diagnostic may help discover if there is a hardware issue

and to what extent it may affect the use of the computer. If you are in

the vicinity of or fair driving distance to an Apple Store with Genius,

you can contact them to set an appointment to have this looked into

and take the computer in for testing. In the US & Canada a diagnostic

is a free service. The retail Apple page has info on how to schedule:

Hopefully you may find a resolution by checking into updates or other

methods suggested the ‘resolve’ links above, because software update

may include drivers for hardware that may cause a reported issue.

What is Family Sharing?

With Family Sharing, you and up to five other family members can share access to amazing Apple services like iCloud+, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, Apple News+, and Apple Arcade. Your group can also share iTunes, Apple Books, and App Store purchases, and a family photo album. You can even help locate each other’s missing devices.

One adult in your household — the family organizer — invites your family members. When family members join, they get instant access to the group’s subscriptions and content that are eligible for sharing. Each family member uses their own account, so everyone’s experience stays personalized and private.

Share purchases, subscriptions, iCloud+, and more

Share purchases from the App Store and more

When you set up purchase sharing, everyone in the family gets access to the apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books that family members buy. The content automatically appears on the Purchased page in the App Store, iTunes Store, Apple Books, or Apple TV app. Some items can’t be shared.

Share Apple subscriptions

Whether it’s music, TV and movies, news, games, or fitness, Apple subscriptions have something for everyone. And with iCloud+, you can share storage and features like iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and HomeKit Secure Video support with your family.

When you use Family Sharing, your whole family can share access to the same Apple subscriptions. With Apple One, you can bundle everything together for one low monthly price. You can also share some other subscriptions that you sign up for in apps from the App Store.

Everyone’s personal files and preferences stay private

When you share iCloud+, family members can’t see each others’ photos, files, or documents. And when you share other subscriptions like Apple Music, Apple Fitness+, or Apple TV+, each person sees their own preferences and recommendations — not the whole family’s.

Want to keep purchases private? You can hide individual items.

If your family includes children

Parents can create Apple IDs for kids under 13* in their family. With an Apple ID, a child can use their own account on their own device — and even make their own purchasing decisions. But with integrated parental control features, parents can still set limits.

Approve what kids buy or download

If you want to see and approve what kids download, set up Ask to Buy. When a child asks to buy apps, movies, or other content, an alert is sent to the family organizer, who can approve or decline it right from their device.

Kids can use Apple Cash

With Apple Cash Family, your child or teen can send or receive money in Messages and make purchases with Apple Pay. Parents can send allowance or spending money directly to children. And parents can see and limit kids’ spending. Family members under 18 can also participate in Apple Card Family.

Limit how much time kids spend on their devices

With Screen Time, you can keep an eye on how much time your kids spend using apps, visiting websites, and on their devices overall. Review your kids’ activity reports and set time limits for specific apps right from your own device. You can also name another family member as a parent/guardian so that you’re always on the same page when it comes to your kids and their screen time.

Kids can stay connected with an Apple Watch

Set up Apple Watch for a school-aged child who doesn’t have their own iPhone. Kids can use their Apple Watch to make phone calls, send messages, and share their location with you. And parents can help kids stay distraction-free during school hours with Schooltime.

Share locations and find devices

To help you stay coordinated, people in your family group can share locations. And you can help other family members find their devices if they are missing.

Keep track of where everybody is

With Family Sharing, you can use the Find My app to share your location automatically with your family. If you need privacy, you can temporarily stop sharing your location. Just turn off Share My Location in the Find My app.

Find a missing device

Your family members’ devices appear in the Find My app. So it’s easier than ever to track down a missing or stolen iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac.
