Helpful answers

1 Infinite Loop is Apple’s address in Cupertino. The charges would be for music, books, apps — any purchases you are making through the iTunes Store. They will all contain the same address.

Who or what site do I go to to ID what the charges are for? I think I may be scammed.

Here is a link that tells you how to look at your Purchase History on a Mac or computer:

If, once you have had a chance to take a look, you feel that you do have a problem with what is showing there, you can contact iTunes Support at this link:

You should know that I ran disc first aid on everything, then Onyx, then zap the NV ram. That did not help.

What year model?

What macOS version?

Have you installed any third party RAM modules? If so, what was the brand and spec’s?

Try reinstalling the original RAM modules and test it with only the stock RAM modules for awhile.

What if any third party AVware and Cleaning App’s have you installed on the Mac Mini?

None of those are needed with macOS including ONYX and many can cause all sorts of issues including what you are describing.

Try starting up in Safe Mode and run it for awhile to see if it will run without crashing.

If it does not crash, then you most likely have a problem with some third party AV or Cleaning ware, that needs to be removed from the system.

If it still crashes in Safe Mode, them you could have a hardware issue that may be detected by the Apple Diagnostics Test.

1 Infinite Loop

An image of the Apple Campus from Google Maps.

1 Infinite Loop, also known as Apple Campus, was Apple Inc.’s former headquarters in Cupertino, California, USA.

Contents

History

The campus was originally constructed for Apple Computer as a research and development facility by the Sobrato Organization and completed in 1993. After Apple co-founder Steve Jobs returned to the company in 1997, he relocated the headquarters from 20525 Mariani Avenue to 1 Infinite Loop. Though Apple still occupies the campus, the headquarters is now located at Apple Park, which opened in April 2017. [1] [2]

Incidents

  • On March 6, 1998, disgruntled fans and developers gathered at the campus to protest the discontinuation of the Newton platform. [3]
  • On August 12, 2008, a three-alarm fire broke out on the second floor of Valley Green 6 at around 10:00pm and was extinguished by 12:30am. [4] Although no one was injured, the Santa Clara County Fire Department estimated the damage at around $2 million. Apple stated that the building was not a research and development facility. [5]
  • On October 19, 2011, Apple held a staff memorial on the campus to celebrate the life of late co-founder Steve Jobs. Apple retail stores around the world were closed so that employees could watch the event as it was livestreamed to the stores. [6]
  • On April 27, 2016, 25-year-old employee Edward Mackowiak was found dead in a conference room around 8:30am from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An investigation by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office determined that «no foul play and no other individuals were involved». [7][8]

Facilities

Though the Apple campus contains additional buildings on the other side of De Anza Boulevard, «1 Infinite Loop» generally refers to the six main buildings situated within the oval private street of Infinite Loop. Employees identify these buildings as IL1 through IL6. The inside of 1 Infinite Loop is restricted to employees and persons outside of Apple must be accompanied by employees. A large car park is located outside of 1 Infinite Loop. [2]

4 Infinite Loop (IL4) houses the Town Hall conference center, which hosted early Apple Special Events. [9]

Infinite Loop also housed The Company Store, the corporate store where customers could purchase Apple-branded merchandise; employees got a discount. In 2015, it was renovated and reopened as «Apple Infinite Loop» to present the full Apple retail store experience and now also sells the Mac and iOS lines. This store remains the only place within the campus that is open to the public. [10]

Question: Q: Apple logo is orange and infinite loop

I tried factory resetting my phone. I tried to do this with Itunes on my windows computer. But, whenever I tried to reset, restore to an older version, or update, it just stated ‘Error 3194. Unknown Error has occurred’. I didn’t understand what was going on, so I decided to restart my Iphone on the phone itself in settings, Erasing all settings and content. The IPhone restarted, the apple logo was white and the background was black, the usual. But, the apple logo changes into an orange-yellow combination while the black background still remains black.

I couldn’t get passed this loop. I tried plugging it into it’s charger, I tried its recovery state, but it still states ‘Error 3194, Unknown Error has occurred. The phone was jailbroken since a member of my family enjoys doing that, but I can’t get passed this orange apple logo, if anyone can provide any answers, that would be great. Thanks!

Contact the jailbreaker for assistance. Neither Apple nor anyone on the forum can help you as we do not know the characteristics of your device.

Your issue is probably related to the jailbreak. You can try to put your device into DFU mode and remove the jailbreak, but it may not work. The error you see has to do with trying to install the wrong ipsw on the device. You mentioned an older version, that would do it. Also, the jailbreak can affect the modem software version. Google for DFU and try that. Also you may want to check this support document first to ensure your computer is clear of changes that can be made when you jailbreak a phone. If you see Error 3194, Error 17, or ‘This device isn’t eligible for the requested build’ in iTunes — Apple Support

It is possible the DFU restore will restore the phone, but you may not, as a result of the jailbreak. If that is the case, Apple will not support the phone. You may just be out of luck.

Many experienced posters have recommended DFU mode but I’ve been reluctant to follow suit. I’ve so far been unable to locate an Apple document that references DFU and I fear that this might be a dangerous procedure. Can you direct me accordingly?

I don’t know there is an actual Apple document, but there are instructions everywhere. Lawrence posted instructions in another thread earlier. ive set the date to the 1/1/70 what do i do? I’m not aware that it is dangerous, just tricky to do.

A DFU restore will usually recover the phone:

  • Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer if it isn’t there already ( (you must have Windows 7 or later or OS X 10.8.5 or later)
  • Reboot your computer
  • Disable any antivirus and firewalls
  • Launch iTunes
  • Connect the device cable to a USB port on the computer (not to a USB hub), but DO NOT CONNECT TO THE DEVICE YET
  • Press and hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for exactly 10 seconds, until the screen turns black, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button. If an Apple logo appears while holding both buttons you held for too long; start over.
  • While still holding the HOME button connect the other end of the cable to the device
  • You should see a message in iTunes saying a phone in Recovery mode has been detected (it may take up to a minute for the message to appear). When you see that message release the HOME button and the device should restore. When asked DO NOT restore a backup; set up as a new phone.

Try several times if it doesn’t work the first time; getting it into DFU mode is tricky.

I saw your response just after I posted to Meg on the same topic (different thread):

I’ve seen several descriptions like that. It’s just that I need the «warm & fuzzy» of an Apple document saying that it’s a good thing. With all of the flaming going on about unauthorized repairs, does that fit into that category? It seems like it’s a bit more extensive than simply opening the case and looking around.

Feb 13, 2016 1:58 PM

It doesn’t require any opening of the phone, and from what I’ve read, is just a little different method from the restore to factory. Seems it will force a new download and install of the firmware, where a restore to factory looks and if there is a copy of the latest ipsw on your computer, it will use it. I may be a little off on my description, and if so, I apologize, but that is based on my understanding of how it works.

Feb 13, 2016 2:01 PM

I tried your method, and it actually worked! Thank you so much for recommending this!

Feb 13, 2016 2:01 PM

Like I said, I’m kinda in a quandary here. You and many other experienced users almost routinely recommend it (under the correct circumstances) but I was still hoping for the «warm & fuzzy» from Apple.

Oh well, thanks anyway.

Edit — I just saw the post indicating that the DFU worked!

I just copied your instructions. Is it OK if I paste your words into responses when appropriate?
