Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Opera.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you

Question: Q: My Iphone5 has a black screen and won’t turn on
So after school one day i took my phone out of my pocket and the screen was black, i was pressing the on and off button for the sound and i could hear the noises, so i decided to restart my phone. After waiting for ten minutes i keep on pressing the restart button and it still would not turn on. Once i got home i plugged my phone into the charger thinking that it might turn on. However it just kept on making the noise as if i was pluging and unplugging the charger repeatedly. I keep on restarting the phone and it still has not turned on. It has been two days and the phone has still not turned on. When i plugged my phone into the the computer thinking i could reset my phone into facotry settings, itunes could not recognized my serial number. Now after not charging it for a day it will not charge at all

I had exactly the same problem about 3 hours ago. Here is the way I resolved the problem (by entering DFU Mode):
- Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
- Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
- Then the Apple Logo appears, and everything works as usual

I kept it in the charger until i was ready for school, Still nothing.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone 5. I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on. I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this. I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
- Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
- Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
- Connect the iPhone to the iPhone’s USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
- After at least 30 minutes, if:
- The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
- The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See «iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive» symptom in this article.
- Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
- If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
- If the display turns on, go to step 4.
- If the display remains black, go to next step.
- Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn’t appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
- If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

Question: Q: iPhone 5: Blue Screen and Restarting Issue
I have an iPhone 5 and am running iOS 7.0.04. Just a few days ago my phone has had the following issues:
1) Phone randomly restarts
2) While using the phone, system will crash and the result is the Blue Screen of death. Only way to get out of this crash is to do a manual restart
3) While using phone, screen will start flickering, lines will appear on screen and I will either get a Blue Screen or a White Screen.
I have done the following to date:
1) Backed up Phone and synced/restored from my Computer
2) Erased all settings and restored from iCloud Backup
My phone is out of warranty and I think if I take it back to the Apple Store they will tell me I’m SOL.
Just wanted to know if people think this is a Hardware or Software issue.

Actually, I had a similar problem with my iPhone 5S when I first bought it back in September. The problem though was directly related to issues with the Apple iWorks apps, Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Using those apps under certain circumstances would cause the phone to suddenly revert to the blue screen of death and then restart on it’s own.
It scared the crap out of me when it happened the first few times but I came here to the forum and started searching and discovered that other users were having the identical issue. I honestly can’t remember what the final fix was, but I’m pretty sure that the problem ended when iOS 7.0.2 came out.
That’s not exactly what you are experiencing but it is similar and it turns out that it did appear to be a software issue. Anyway, you may think it’s random, but take special note of what you are doing the next couple of time it happens and you may find that there is some connection to something else that is going on with the phone.

There is one more step to try: restore as a NEW device (not from a backup). If the problem is solved, that means your backup has some sort of corruption in it. If the problem continues, you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar.

Hi, as I said I called someone from apple and my Iphone 5s works fine now, I had a blue screen and it always tried to start but after a while there came a blue screen, if you have the same issue as I had you can try the next thing, it worked for me, what u acctualy reinstall the software on your phone.
- Be sure the phone is turned off.
- Open itunes and take a cable to connect your phone to you mac/pc
- Hold the home botton and connect the phone with your mac. keep pressing the home botton.
- now on you Iphone you will see a itunes logo, and there will open a window on your mac.
- then you simply have to follow these steps and you will reinstall your software again.
at the end you can if you can put everything back on your phone with itunes or icoud, at least as you took a backup from your phone.
if you have the same problem again after these steps, than I might go to an apple store.
I hope I can help someone with this.

Blue screen of death is a terrible thing. So i search many about this for my iPhone. At last, I found this method which can fix this kind of iPhone blue screen caused by iOS system problem or software problem.

Hi! I have exactly the same problem, jackhandy234. I only just experienced it a few days ago as well. I own an iPhone5 with 7.0.4 running on it. I only experienced this after updating it to the current OS.
I’ve already restored my phone as a NEW device twice, and it seems like it is not a software problem. Could it be an issue with the battery? Because admittedly, I have been charging my phone quite a lot.
I am still puzzled if this is a software or a hardware issue, so I know where to take off from here. I have no official Apple service center in my country and I wouldn’t want to have my unit shipped to HK just yet since it will take about 2-3 months.

Im actually having the same problem. I already restarted and i thought that the problemas was fixed but a little while ago the blue screen came out again.. What did they tell you ?
Jan 28, 2014 6:37 PM
I have a white iPhone 5 running on the latest IOS 7.0.4 and I am having a similar problem. I have had my phone for about 6 months now and have had it always well protected in a sturdy case similar to an otter box case. I have had no problems with the phone until 2 nights ago.
While on the messaging app «kik» M y phone froze up, vertical pixalated lines appeared, it faded into a black screen, shut down and automatically turned on again. It repeated this «glitch» while powering back up about 3 times. F inally after having to manually restart it by pressing the power and home button for 5-6 seconds it stop.
After going back to using my phone, not 5 mins past, and it was «glitching» up again. In the past 48 hours it has glitch over 26+ times. Everytime I need to use my phone for more then 5 mins I need to manually reset it.
If you have found a solution to your problem, please post it because it could possibly solve mine.

I took mine into the Genius Bar and they were little help. They pretty much said I was SOL.
The bummer about it is I had an iphone5 that was having issues with the lock button, I took it in right before the warranty was up and they replaced it with this Iphone5 and within a few months I have been having all sorts of issues. Its no longer under the 90 day warranty so they said they won’t fix it. Seems rediculous because the refurbished one they gave me is clearly not refurbished enough.
Excited to find out if you have a fix for this. Thanks!

What amishcake wrote is accurate. Once restored as a new phone do not install apps yet. Use it for an hour and see if anything happens. I just did and so far no more glitch. Now waiting for phone support to call me back but things are looking good with the advice to restore phone as a new user.

This happened to my wife’s 5s the other day. During FaceTime the phone started to lag. I ended the FaceTime call (I was on the other end) and about 2 minutes later she calls me up from the basement saying her phones broke. I run upstairs and see the blue screen followed by white lines. After 3 soft resets I got the 5s to function. 2 days ago were in the car and her phone goes nuts. Within a 2 hour window I must’ve reset the phone 30+ times, seriously. I went to erase and rebuild, but during the process the blue screen reappeared. Finally I rebuilt the phone twice and set up as a new phone both times only to see the blue screen once again. Once it became operational I selected restore from the prior backup just to see what would happen. This time it restored perfectly, no blue screens. Phone was working perfectly for almost 24 hours until 10 minutes ago. The ironic thing is that I updated the iOS about 1 hour prior to the first blue screen issue. Didn’t think it had any relation between the iOS update and blue screen because I updated my 5s on the same day and haven’t had an issue. However this morning when I removed my phone from the charger it immediately turned blue. What are the odds 2 iPhone 5s’s have the same problem after the most recent update? My phone is 6 weeks old and hers is 7 weeks.

My son’s iPhone 5 went to the BSOD after the most recent iOS update. I followed the instructions provided by lukaslaporte and his phone has been «healthy» ever since — knock on wood — thanks for taking the time to post!!

My Iphone 5 has suffered the blue screen of death after the iOS 7.1 update. The screen turns blue and does not restart. the only way it restarts is after the battery has drained completely. Thoroughly disappointed with Apple. never buying apple product again.

Same problem here, Im running the latest version of iOS 7 on my iphone 5S (ipod 5S) bricked lol.
