X apple data detectors

A href?

Быстрый вопрос новичка в PHP. Что делает & в &$data и в чем разница с $data? function prepareMenu(&$data) < $this->db->where(‘parentid’,0) . .

X apple data detectors

Today, I received an email from a trusted source which contains links like «x-apple-data-detectors://1». This is the first time I have seen anything like this. Since it looks like a programming-language command or script statement rather than the usual URL or file path+name, I want to make sure that this is safe to activate.

Attached is a screenshot of the dialog that appears in T-bird (v 31.4.0 running in Win 8.1) when I click on the link described above.

What type of application (i.e., wordprocessor, text editor, picture viewer) should I choose to associate with this command/statement? What will happen and what text/data will I get? What will crash?? I don’t think I need to see the referenced data/text, but it would be helpful to be able to check to make sure. N.B. — I have found anything beginning with the letter «x» gives me terrible headaches, which makes my inquiry, at least to me, rather important.

A Google search didn’t help, returning few links, mostly to Apple web site pages railing against folks stealing their stuff. (Sorry — no pity from me.)

I am well-protected against malware, viruses, etc. by Norton 360 (demonstrated to be quite effective during the last couple of days). Win OS, T-bird, W-Fox, and Norton are all up-to-date.

Chosen solution

X- headers (your not supposed to see headers) are application specific junk, If you look in your mails headers there are probably X-Norton headers. Just as avast puts;

Please do not think having Norton on hand protects you. In most cases these days it simply does not scan mail ( it also does not tell you that) see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#Norton_Security

Question: Q: Data detectors

I run Server on my everyday machine (currently a MacBook Pro) and I don’t have any problems using Data Detectors in Mail.app, therefore I’d have to say they are supported.

Off hand I can’t think what would cause them to not work.

Does the same email sent to a non-Server user work? i.e. are you sure it’s a Server problem and not just an issue where Data Detectors doesn’t recognize the data because it’s not in the format it’s looking for?

We have the same problem: Data detectors seems not to be active on the leopard clients. I have to say that i noticed that these are leopard server based accounts that have the problem. The same email works fine when the clients runs mail from a local machine based account.

I start to think that it may be because these accounts were all migrated (Not upgraded) from 10.4. (WAre your accounts macboyinsf migrated too?) I suspect that there is some setting wrong or missing in client libraries. Does anyone know where/how to start debugging this?

Feb 28, 2008 10:28 PM

Ok so far I found that the data detector does not work if the user account is leopard based. (Home directory on the server) This is independent of: if the user was migrated from 10.4 or newly created on leopard server.

The data detectors work fine is you use a local user with leopard cyrus.

Does anyone have an idea what the next step should be?

Still not working.. odd. If you reading this, experience the same problem or it is working, please report this here. This is what I found:

Local account -> Data Detectors work
Server based account with home directory on the server-> Data Detectors DON’T work
Same account, same client macine, but now as a moble account on the client machine — > Data detectors work.

I tested this on two different servers by 2 different clients with consistent results (one intel client intel server and the other intel client with a G4 server). I reseted the com.apple.mail.plist but that seems to make no difference. I understand that Data Detectors are an integrated part of the mail app.

Same problem here.
I’m using a ‘truly mobile’ server account (as for some reason I can’t get it to create a local account) and Data Detectors don’t work.
Others have local ‘mobile’ accounts syncing with the server and the detectors work fine.

Let me add a «me too» to this forum thread. I have seven computers on our small office network and our Artistic Director who lives on his lap top has the data dectors working fine, but all our network accounts do not work for «data detectors’. If this is a known bug please advise of work around. Not a show stopper but it would be nice to have this feature working.
